Wow! 7 months that's hell of a long sleep, even for a grizzly :P Rimmz has it right. Only Rare points need to be spent on either Spawn (for the hell of it) or a Force Multiplier like the Hellcannon or Warshrine. Everything else needs to go to combat winning units. |

A Slaaneshi Giant seems like a good way of winning combats if the opponent isn't expecting it. |

if you are still looking for which to add and you haven't consider this: once you get into the 2000+ points, are you gonna upgrade to Kholek? of so, start off with the Shaggoth.... otherwise, stick with the Giant. |

I take a Shaggoth out of principle, such a cool model has to be on the table. A display shelf or cabinet doesn't do it justice. The Shaggoth along with "Boobworm" and Diskrider was the reason I started WoC in the first place. In the new 8th Ed game I find that WoC have so many good units that I can afford to spend 285 pts. on an "overcosted" unit and still be very compeditive. The Shaggoth doesn't even really get shot at, most opponents shoot at my Marauder blocks or my Chaos Knights instead. I recently bought (and painted) a Hellcannon and depending on how many (or how little) points I play I will most likely play some games without my Shaggoth. What I won't do is use a Giant unless they get a new model or i find a way to make a conversion. Based on price and stats a Giant is better but their model is so ugly that im willing to do without them. Lastly slamming into something well armoured with 5 S8 attacks is just so fun. I am also clearly using a very "fluffy" choice while doing so. Who/what else has str 7+ and is concidered "fluffy"? |

That's the kind of thinking I can never disagree with :) "Cool Model Factor" wins every time. I could only add that the CMF needs to have a list tailored to get the most effectiveness possible in such an army build. |

This is exactly what I am debating right now also. Building a Kholek/Throgg army with Trolls and big gribblies. I'm thinking one of each until one comes out as a sure fire favorite. I have the models to do it so why not! After a few games I will return with any findings. Especially in this brave new world we have in 8th. |
