Hey guys, Painted this guy up a couple months back but I don't think I ever posted any pics of him up on any of the forums. I made the whips out of twisted wire because the flimsy resin ones that came with the model absolutely refused to hold their shape and were determined to be straight as poker sticks now matter how many times I gave them the hot water treatment. These whips are much more durable too. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image And the "Booty Shot"........... lol..... Posted Image |

I agree: you managed to meet the epicness required of him. Which is something of a feat. The only FW model I like more is the Keeper, too bad they're mediocre. |

Dear End Times Very effective. I have to confess that the veins are my favourite feature of the work that you have done, the whole creature is excellent but the way that you have done the veins works, in my opinion, really well. As I am also one who believes in feedback the only area that I might place a suggestion would be the base. The lone skull dosen't carry much weight and, frankly, I would expect see a giant hoof print. However, that is just window dressing and so you can certainly feel a sense of satisfaction in what you have achieved. Edmund |

Hey Edmund, Thanks for the feedback. The lone skull is a little silly indeed, but in my defense that is the way the base comes from forgeworld! lol. Other than the static grass and foliage, that base is one big chunk of resin that comes with the model. Adding skulls would be simple I suppose, but doing a hoofprint would be challenging to make it look right since I'd have to carve away at the resin. Glad you like the veins, they were quite simple to do really. |

Dear End Times Re the base, I see, didn't realise. Re foot prints etc, if you have ever looked at a cow or horse print the ground is always disturbed at the edge above the soil level as the beast sinks down, if you know what I mean. So a simple but effective tactic that I use is blue tack - shape into approximate shape and whalla - no need to carve into plastic (or resin). Blue tack is a lot cheaper then greensuff too - however, you will always need to put over two undercoats as when the paint compleatly drys it will stretch the blue tack a little. Edmund |

The bone axe was basecoated graveyard earth, then painted bleached bone while leavin some areas the original base colour. I think I then used watered down bleached bone to go over the areas I'd left graveyard earth (creases and the like). Finally some very careful applications of GW's Gryphonne Sepia wash were put on. Gw washes rock, seriously. Not sure why so many people bash 'em. |
