As bad as the Tongue/Puppet combo was last edition in this edition it is even worse, with the table having results the puppet can't change and the change of the wizard dying being even less. Plus the chances of failing to cast are a lot less also.

Enchanted Shield is 15pts because that is what is in the army book. The updated RBRB costs are only so that future army books don't have to list all 50+ items.

OK so essentially I can scrap one of my lvl 1 sorcerers then.

But I see talk about this combo all over the place, perhaps people are not getting the new rules right?

Me Myself have not seen the rulebook more than the rumor thread on warseer.

Otherwise what do you think of the composition Godless, 2 Hellcannons good?

I am thinking of switching one of the knight units for warriors, either HW+SH Tzeentch or Halberd + shield / Khorne.

A BSB is alot more useful in this edition as well as you can re-roll any leadership test. So if you pull out one of your wizards you might want to squeeze in a bsb.

Its generally talk from people who don't play WOC and overestimate the effects of the puppet. Don't get me wrong, puppet was a must-take item in 7th (I was never conviced by the black tongue- 50 points to GUARANTEE 67-95 points to your opponent and maybe hurt one of their casters). Risk and reward wise it might have been worth it against some armies (VC springs to mind) but generally not great.

In 8th although the miscast table is more likely to damage troops it is FAR LESS LIKELY to kill an enemy caster compared to 7th.

Puppet is still a good item in 8th but not a must-take like before, I've stated why I think so here:
