Hey everyone, With 8th edition nearly here I was tinkering around at my list and hoping for the best. This is what I'm thinking! Exalted Hero +MoN +Filth Mace +Bronze Armour Chaos Warriors x18 +MoN +Shield/Halberd +Full Command Chaos Warriors x18 +MoN +Shield/Halberd +Full Command Chaos Marauders x25 +Full Command +Shield/Light Armour Chaos Marauders x25 +Full Command +Shield/Light Armour Chaos Warhounds x5 Chaos Warhounds x5 Chaos Warshrine +MoN Footsloggin' (hopefully arse-kickin') army. If needed I could likely drop the exalted and take a sorceror to get a magic phase. There's about 28 points left, so I'm trying to decide between giving the exalted a gift of chaos and a shield or giving a chaos warrior unit the Festering Shroud. Any thoughts? Thankies! |

So by my count, that's already 1532pts. Hero = 180 Warriors = 366 each Marauders = 200 each Warhounds = 30 each Warshrine = 160 180 + 732 + 400 + 60 + 160 = 1532 points total I tried to figure out what you might have been missing to come up with -28 instead of +32, but I'm at a loss. Where is the hero going? He doesn't fit nicely in any of those units (19 and 26 don't rank up well...). If he's going to be alone, I'd strongly recommend a mount. To the list itself, it's not bad at all. I do think maybe dropping a unit of Marauders for a Sorcerer wouldn't be a bad idea at all. I'm still undecided on using a Mark of Nurgle Sorcerer or just going unmarked and picking Lore of Death (still very fluffy Nurgle). If you take the sorcerer you can also get a Battle Standard on your Exhalted and have plenty of points to play around with your items. Something like that would give you 3 sizable blocks of infantry, 2 with good heroes (even the sorcerer is a 2 wound Chaos Warrior in CC), 2 flank protecting/cover providing units, and a tough monster. I've never seen anyone address the combat potential of a Warshrine before, but I had one kill Crone Hellebron last week. It was epic :) Shame about no thunderstomp...They really would be ridiculous with that. Glad to see a fellow Nurglite though :) |

I think you're counting the marauders as having MoN, but they don't yet. :P Would it be worthwhile dropping the puppies and taking MoN on both blocks of marauders? |

Good call! I was marking the marauders. I find the hounds to be incredibly worth while. I use them as a buffer between me and my faster enemies. Even if they're just hard cover, it's worth it for 30pts. They also warmachine hunt reasonably well. For 30points, they really are great. The mark on the marauders is...meh. It's helpful sometimes, but nothing is probably better :) I really do feel like the sorcerer is invaluable,.+2 to dispel, a little bit of ranged damage and utility. It's just too good. I'm curious how so many blocks of infantry work out for you though. Marauders are just to squishy for me. Unless you like to play around with Wulfrik :) |

I haven't actually used the army yet... so I'm hoping it works out good. >.> I'll try to post a battle report on my first one to let you guys know. A sorceror may end up replacing those marauders, I think. >: ) |

I was thinking it through earlier. The MoN really isn't worth it on the Marauders. I guess you could argue when you have like 25+ it's nearly 1pt per model, which isn't terrible for -1 to being hit by shooting, but it really shines on our WS 5+ guys. I'm still going to put it on my Marauders because I'm like that and my army will be as Nurgleas possible! I almost put poisoned attacks and scaly skin on my hounds because it makes them more Nurgle esq, but that's just too bad. Against Warriors, and all of our other @S5 guys, it brings Elves down to hitting us on a 4+ (they're typically WS6) and a LOT of other armies up to a 5+ to hit us (it brings WS3 down to WS2, which is a 5+ against WS5). By "a LOT" I mean Lizardmen, Orcs and Goblins, Bretonnia, Empire, Ogres. All of the Elves either come down to a 4+ or bring us up to a 3+. The ranged is also more important against these, as they tend to have more good shooting/bolt throwers. It's pretty useless against Vampires and Tomb Kings (They're already low), Dwaves, and Daemons (They're all WS4 or WS5). Disclaimer: When I say all I mean at least half and am refering to non-characters. So that's 9 (I'm including WoC here because obviously -1 to an identical unit gives you an advantage) armies it's really effective against and 4 it's kind of "Meh" against. |

Thanks Dhinata. I'll give it a spin in a test game or two to see which option I like more. If I do go with MoN on the marauder I think I'd rather use empire militia and chaos/nurgle pimp them into a band of crazed, plagued fanatics instead of using the barbaric marauder models. |

You could also run your nurgle warrior halberd unit with banner of rage. Get all the benefits of both father nurgle and the extra attacks from khorne giving you a truly deadly unit. |
