In such a small points game, I don't think the Third Eye will be necessary. With the points dropped from the Third Eye, give the Marauders with shields and light armor the Mark of Tzeentch. The Chosen are cool but they're a little fragile. I reccomend replacing them with Warriors, at least in this smaller points limit. Only big units win 8th ed, at least in my opinion. |

I did a tester 1k list, trying to test out as many rules in 8th as possible. Is this what you mean by test list or are you looking for the most powerful 1k build? I don't think third eye is too useful in this instance; you won't come up against much magic, so often there will be nothing worth stealing. Instead I've found a level 1 death sorceror with charmed shield and spell familiar is a good, cheap set up. This will give you 2 spells to use your 2d6 power dice on which should be plenty with only +1 to cast. Discounting the first hit on a 2+ can be pretty good miscast protection too. I noticed you haven't taken a BSB and at first I was surprised. Then I realised as WoC you should be winning combats so the rerolls for break tests are un-needed. Likewise terror is now a panic check so WoC units get rerolls on that by default. All a bsb seems to do is + 1Cr and reroll fear tests; if you don't really need an exalted hero this is a big investment! perhaps you have the right idea taking no bsb? (I currently take an exalted bsb with shield and ironcurse icon (6+ unit ward against warmachines and I'm using MoT units :D). After realising will of chaos gives a reroll against the terror check (with it now being a panic test) perhaps my BSB will soon be joining the dole line? |

Personally I would go with a BSB who has the 4+ pendant of preservation, mark him tzeench and give him a great weapon. I would also leave him on foot, since you could still use "look out Sir!" for him at that point. Also what do you see the role of your marauder horsemen as being? For redirectors/ flank/ etc. the dogs seem to do just as well provided they are within the generals leadership bubble. You could get alot of dogs for the same cost. They wouldnt hurt anything, but thats rarely their purpose. |
