By that logic surely they wouldn't have made Archaon cannon fodder with no look-out-sir because that would make him useless too. And they didn't copy-paste him from anywhere. Making an assumption that something was copy-pasted isn't going to win over any arguments with an opponent to be fair. I can accept the Ab vs RBRB argument though, but I still don't agree on the matter and willwait for my buddy to get back to me with a clear answer from Mr. Ward. And remember, it is GW; assuming they are aware of what is the best choice in an army is a bad assumption.

I think the main problem here is that this is an argument that cannot effectively happen on a Chaos forum due to bias. Khorne players will argue the Juggernaut is cavalry, Nurgle players will argue it's not because that also means their Palanquin is cavalry and thus useless, etc.

Speaking as someone who plays Khorne WoC and DoC , I will simply be using my bloodcrusher units and the rules for allied armies.
I suspect this may be why the reference section has agreement with troop types.

For me the new 8th ed. rules are a welcome change as I can now once again field my units as I first did when I was playing Chaos Khorne armies under 3rd ed. rules 'Slaves to Darkness', its nice to have them all back together again in the same army.

If you read the allies rules, they are for doubles games only; in a simple one on one battle you cannot take units from two army books.

Yes I know , my gaming group has been doing group games (we call them Frankenhammer) since I first started playing warhammer.
In a tournament atmosphere I expect that the 2 or more player team rule would be used , but for my gaming group where most of the players have at least one or more armies that they could ally , we will allow 1 player to use the ally rules.

The only reason Alric is posting here is because the mods closed the topic on warseer (i wonder why......)

Either way it seems to be getting a bit off topic.

It seems that a Lord on Juggernaut is a pretty viable choice if you can protect him well enough. I'm thinking of something along the lines of Talisman of Preservation and Chaos Runeshield. This leaves him without a magical weapon unless you take Rending Sword or something like that, but I would probably just go with his normal strength and give him Favour of the Gods instead. I wouldn't count on him to destroy any units on his own anymore with steadfast and generally bigger units compared to 7th ed, but in a combined charge he would be incredibly devastating.

I'm not as experienced as some, but I'm pretty good at logic, and logic would dictate that if the army list is built around him, meaning a saturation of dangerous targets, than he is viable. Give the enemy enough targets that will pose a threat and the lone character does not seem as tempting to throw everything at, which makes him more effective and makes it more likely that he will earn his points back, or at least not die. Either end result is a win really because as long as the opponent can't focus on the Lord as the only threat, the defenses you can give him should be enough to protect him. Just my two cents.

If there's a giant or a shaggoth on the table without even the ward save to protect them.....I would.

my 2 cents, just give him crimson armour of dargan, the 5+ ward save talisman(talisman of protection I think ) and a 30p wepon-rending sword or even just a sword of might...and he is a monster as cannon do only one wound to him! combined with a ward save it will take half adozen cannon balls to drop him..they won't shoot at him at all guaranteed

Juggernaut = Monstrous Beast

When you mount a character on a Monstrous Beast it becomes Monstrous Cavelry

So Character on Jugg is MC not a MB
Dragon Ogres are MB

MC does not equal MB

So no LoS save. Yes it sucks deal with it.

Unit types are over ridden by the BRB

If it wasn't intended to be this way why would they type the Jugg as you cant take it on its own.
