For Sale here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=170533795378 I was going to put this in the army blogs forum but as it is already complete I figure it's a bit moot point, but if the admins feel it should be there please feel free to move it! For the past 4 months now I have been slowly but surely pieced together and painted this warriors of chaos army, and it is FINALLY finished as of yesterday! I had originally intended this army, and the process of making this army, to be a blog on here but real life got the best of me and I was unable to have the time to devote towards giving it a proper blog. The army itself is very much inspired by Cthulhu/Lovecraftian Lore, with a lot of the color choices and the general overall feel having a moody/dark aquatic feel by sticking to a very limited pallet, the marauders having sea dragon cloaks, the blue-green of the verdigris on the armor, the tentacles and waves on the banner; I tried to really imagine what a chaos warrior army devoted to Cthulhu would look like. The armor in particular was the means in which I planned to achieve this from the get-go. I originally wanted to do the army as rusty/sea-worn look but after much deliberation, instead of the doing all of the cloth in the army as a deep sea teal to give the aquatic feel, I decided instead to paint the armor as aged copper with tons of verdigris, using the blue-green of the verdigris to tie into the aquatic theme, and then do the cloth as a shadowy blue-grey/black. But boy was that armor a pain.. I had never attempted verdigris prior to this army, and each and every piece of metal in the army had upwards of 4 levels of blended shading, about about 4-6 layers of washes and glazes, it was quite the nightmare, and very daunting in the beginning. I had planned on adding a couple of large lovecraftian-themed gribblies like a giant or two and such but in the end I liked using the hellcannons so much that I never much had room for them. So after 4 long months, and without further ado.. Nonono... this isn't good at all... your geometry checks out and no one has gone mad yet... Seriously though, the army looks awesome. Love the colours. The eroded bronze makes it look like they just crawled out of R'lyeh. |

Sweet looking army, dude! You manned the theme throughout the army magnificently. My only nitpick is the Limited Edition Exalted Hero. The lighting from his pendant is a smidge too intense. Maybe that's the way you intended it to look, but in my opinion it's a little much. Nonetheless, the army looks awesome! You should get an old-looking chest to transport it around or display it. Reminds me of a Chaos Space Marine army based around a similar theme. |

They are actually the Daemons of Chaos Furies without wings, using epoxy to fill the empty spaces. Thanks for all of the kind words and compliments guys, it is very much appreciated. For those of you that are interested.. It hurts me to say this but I am going to be selling this army. Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=170533795378 To make a very long story short, the Missus and I have a second little one on the way due at the end of September, and our registry didn't quite work out as planned as far as getting pretty much anything we needed for him. My wife in incredibly disappointed by this, and I currently have 4 painted armies, 3 of which are OOP collector miniatures, and I don't think I could part with them, so as a surprise to her I am going to try and make up the difference with this army, plus some overtime at work and such. I would love any support that could be given, but the army should sell itself, I poured my heart and soul into it, and it hurts like crazy to sell, but family comes first for me. Cheers, -V |

Auction's over and it looks like you got quite a lot of bids. Sad that you have to sell it, but I'm guessing someone is going to be a very happy new owner. ;) |

Thought I had commented on this army already, but apparently not, it's a great looking army you got there, & a cool theme I'm sure many have thought about, but not really actually done. It's sad that you have to part from it, I know what it's like to sell an army you have put much effort in, but at least you made someone else happy & got a decent amount of $ for it, thx for sharing the army with us! |
