Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone was using unit fillers in their armies. With the huge blocks of marauders floating around, it sounds like a decent idea to add some bulk that both looks good and fills those ranks out. My main thoughts right now were using a chaos spawn to fill out a unit of marauders to give it a more...chaotic feel? Is anyone else using fillers, if so, what? Pics if you got 'em! |

a freind of mine who plays dwarves uses the dwarf fences from battle for skull pass. it looks really good. I'm still trying to think what would look best for chaos |

I'm thinking of mixing Warhounds in with my Marauders for a really barbaric horde look. |

In my Beastmen army I use a small herdstone, with my Undead I use a small graveyard, but I haven't really figured out what to use with WoC, my original idea before our 7:th edition book was to use some sort of shrine to the gods, but then I had to drop that idea, now I've been thinking about some small scenario, like someone fighting, or perhaps some slaves or maybe just a big daemon that walks among them. |

In my opinion, terrain is never suitable as unit fillers. I like the idea of some spawn or huge demon walking with the unit though. Definitely creates that chaosy feel that most of us have come to like. Personally, I am mixing an ogre or two in with my Empire troops. Since thay aren't mercenaries anymore rule-wise they make great fillers and actually look like they could hurt someone. Seriously, when was the last time you got beat up by a rock or a fence? ^^ |

I don't have too many unit fillers in my armies, but I like the idea. Spawns sounds tricky, at least mine are sticking out in front too much, hard to rank up. Besides, they're on 40 mm bases, so you need a new base or some kind of slot system like this: Posted Image My unit fillers: Posted Image Posted Image |

Those fillers are awesome. I think the tree would look great in a beastmen army. I forgot that the spawn were 40mm. I'll have to think of something tricky to get that to work. :/ |

I like spawn also, mrtn, use of the tray is a slick idea, You can probably do that out of the GW movement tray stuff, but I would just use plasti-card. For me I've decided to go a chaos ogre route, 3-wound ogre plus a mutant marauder, gives me 4 wounds and 50 mm square base, easily explainable. Posted Image Posted Image |

I'm sorry? @PsychosisPC: Thanks, I made the tray for my Nurgling army, where I use the spawn as a counts-as varghulf. |

They take up space so that you can field a larger unit with fewer actual models. |
