I play a Khorne based WoC army. I played two 2500 point games vs my buddies High Elf army. Both games he cleaned my clock with ease. He was able to beat me in melee and in casting. I used a lvl4 tzeentch lord to try and combat magic. First player to be able to break my khorne warrior blocks.

Anyone know any good tactics or tricks when fighting a High Elf army.

Nakhar

Loads of chariots :D
Impact hits come first all the time.

Loads of marauders with GW (Khorne shines here), elves are bad at war of attrition.

Maybe you can write what army your friend is fielding??

I don't know how competitive you both are but you could go for the old Infernal puppet, black tongue combo. Power Familiar and Conjoined homunculus have been kind too me.

I agree with Nakhar chariots might help also multiple Wound Troops are nice.

I used blocks of 18 tzeentch shield warriors in almost every game there darn hard to beat. Fear has also been kind too me in my games vs. HE just don't theme around it. Exalted Heros in a unti never hurt, nor does some MR. Against HE I give my exalted Hw/Shield anything that will help them survive. Theres that ASF sword in the brb. My only real issue with the HE has been the shooting. I haven't faced any large block (18+) that weren't Phoenix Guard. Is this person using a combat heavy list?

This is just my opinion but I reserve Khorne for my Hammer troops. Are you useing any warriors designed to be an anvil?

Good Luck I hope you get it worked out. :)

Yeah when I play HE I tend to Keep my Khorne Warriors with halberds away from HE Elites like White Lions and Sword Masters they have a high enough St to cut through the 4+

My Block of Tzeentch Warriors with HW/Shield works pretty well. You may wanna try that as HE tend to die to St4

:D my killer unit is a hord of 40 caos wariors (mark of khorne,fc,and razor standeard)but choosing an alternate banner also works the hole unit has
60 str 4 attacs at -2 armor save(i also have an exalted to deal with strong enemys)the whole unit is 745 pts and im not realy sure its all that worth taking but i still like it :)i think it will chop up high elves

You would be better off taking Mark of Tzeentch on that 40 man unit.

Think of it this way. You give up 10 attacks to pick up a 5+ Ward save in CC.

Yeah, the High elf combat units can be a real nightmare in 8th.

Yesterday I fought a unit of 10 White Lions with my 5 Knights of Nurgle including a Banner of rage and an Exalted.

Apart from the fact that they always strike first, they now can re-roll to hit because of the higher Initiative. Which means you get an avarage of 7 S6 hits......ouch!

Khorne Marauders with GW won't get the job done, since you probably won't have much to hit back after he's done with you after the first round. You need a big block to survive CR

Warriors with MoT are indeed the way to go I guess....

I usualy just send my 1+ AS 3+ WS lord on disk in their flank. He's usualy winning combat by 2-3, and if he uses his breath attack it's pretty much over for any elite elvish troop >.> They'll loose combat badly due to not being able to wound back, run, and get caught by the swiftstride pursue. Never had to fight elite troops set up in anything else then 7x2 though, perhaps if they have more ranks they could possibly hold him in place for a turn or 2.
