The skaven FAQ says, Q. What is the Leadership value of a Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace? (p43 & p48) A. Ld 0. The BRB FAQ says, Q: Does a unit that has a LD of ‘0’ or ‘-‘? automatically fail Leadership tests? (p10) A: Yes. Page 10 of the BRB paragraph three under Characteristic Tests, says if a model or unit has more then one leadership value you will always use the highest Leadership value. (not word for word didn't know if thats allowed but its on page 10). So if I have a character with The beguiling gem in base contact with the Bell/Furnace will the Bell/Furnace then automatically fail it's Leadership test or does the Character on the bell/Furnace need to die first? If so I was thinking of running A combat lord with the following: Beguiling Gem Glaive Of Putrefaction The Other Tricksters Shard Word Of Agony (maybe Stream of Corruption vs. Seer on bell) Tzeentch Marked Disc or---> Possibly Nurgle Marked with a Palanquin for the extra Attack (in a unit of warriors or chosen) The idea is issue your mandatory challenge and kill away, one snag I suppose is he answers with the challenge with a unit champion. My skaven opponent almost never answers challenges with his Grey Seer as the rat can move higher up. He sometimes answers them with his Plague Priest. If no challenge is met then I can target the bell/furnace, hopefully wounding it at-least once. In the following combat the Lord on Palanquin/Disc attacks followed by Word Of Agony hopefully killing the Bell/Furnace. The Other Tricksters Shard is there for the bells ward save. Is this legal? If not what would you improve. Last week I took a list with 17 Chosen with Exalted bsb. They devoured the Bell unit. My other two blocks of 18 Tzeentch shield warriors were eaten by his Furnace unit (it was a dirty cheese fest) I only won by 150 points. My point is, getting points out of the Bell/Furnace units is nuts. Anyhow if this works it might be worth dropping my lvl 4. Thanks for your time. if this has been posted somewhere else I apologize in advance. |

Ok I used this guys mounted on a Disc Of Tzeentch. My opponent failed the LD test, his seer had already chose to head up the bell. I allocated all my attacks against his bell. Of the five that got threw two wounded after ward saves. The bell rang due to the strength 5 hits, I can't remember the result but it did dmg to nearby buildings and units I think. Now the bells str and toughness is Two until the end of the combat phase. I get 10 attacks into the bell with my warriors. 9 hit 7 wound 5 are warded. I killed it in the next turn and run down the rats. This unit was a load of points. This strategy is very dependent on the rat on the Bell/Furnace failing it ld test. It worked out well for me but I don't think it was worth loosing a Sorcerer Lord. I was getting owned in the magic phase. Also his abom killed my dogs faster then usual due to over running into the other unit of dogs meant to tie him up. He killed both in one turn. The abom then preceded to eat 500 more points of my army. That thing is total crap. I lost by 180 points. |

The Bell is a mount. The mount always uses its rider's LD. So when the Seer is alive its the LD of the Seer. Once he is dead then its LD 0 |

If you used the Glaive of Putrefaction, the bell would be S & T 2 for the rest of the game, not only until the end of the combat phase! Greetings Eta |

Remember that the Glaive doesn't take effect immediately either it doesn't work until the end of the combat phase. |

Well I may have cheated then. But either way I think it would have ended the same. We seem to be cheating a lot in our games with the new rules it's funny really. |

not to sound like an ass or anything, but if you read the rules instead of assuming they are the same you wont "cheat" |
