Hello marauders! I'm working on a list for my WoC in 8e, to play at my FLGS. The group I play with is pretty good, although people tend to avoid cheesy armies in favor of having a bit of fun. Here's the list I'm working on to beat on my friends with:

Daemon Prince: Mark of Nurgle, Level 2 Sorcerer, Bloodcurdling Roar, Word of Agony, Fury of the Blood God: 490

Festus: 185

23 Warriors: Halberds, Shields, Full Command, Mark of Nurgle: 451
24 Chaos Marauders: Great Weapons, Standard Bearer: 128

6 Knights: Standard Bearer, Musician Mark of Nurgle, Banner of Rage: 335

1 Chaos Hellcannon: 205
1 Chaos Hellcannon: 205

Total: 1999

I played one game with it already against OnG, Dawn Assault. My army was split in half (rolled 1's and 2's exclusively), which led to an easy win for the Orcs, since I was already divided, just waiting to be conquered. The performance of each of my units was very good though, so I think I'm on the right track, provided I don't get split up like that again. Any suggestions would be welcome!

EDIT: One change I've been contemplating is dropping the L2 sorc from my DP and adding 16 more marauders to the unit. A second level 2 is only giving me 2 more spells and no further bonus to casting/dispelling. 40 Marauders with Great Weapons in a horde formation sound enticing.

How did you find the MoN did on protecting the units? Did it really help all that much in close combat or shooting, or would you have had simliar or better success with one of the other marks?

I'm interested in anything mono-nurgle, since I'm still trying to convince myself to do it!

I've heard mixed reviews about MoN. His arrer boyz didn't hit anything, and his bolt throwers only landed once, so from the little shooting he did have, it was very nice, and in combat, his 50 Orc horde needing 5's to hit was very helpful as well. I think I'll stick with it, plus my army is painted already, so I don't plan on changing it.

I use MoN, albeit with marauders, and it's been invaluable in turning my marauders into a solid anvil block.

5x5, HW/S, MoN, FC, x2. With a BSB nearby i can tie up massive amounts of my enemy whilst counter-charging with my knights, chariot and chosen.

I've tried khorne before (lost a whole unit in one turn of shooting, and the second on the second turn), and i've tried Tzeen (6+ ward save vs shooting? about 5 models made combat -.-)

Also nurgle paints well :D
