if I take a book of secrets and spell familiar on a lvl 2 wizard. Can I use the spell familiar for the book of secrets? |

If you take a book of secrets on your lvl 2 wizard he will become a lvl 1 wizard, thus this is never a good option. Not really sure about the adding of a spell to book, but I don't think it's possible |

Well if you take the book on a non caster he becomes a Lv1 with the Lore of X. He can then buy arcane items. The Spell familiar is an arcane item. He would then get 2 spells. Don't see why that wouldn't work. However yes putting it on a sorcerer is a bad idea. The FAQ rules that he becomes a lv1 wizard so you loose your lv2. The old 7th ed trick of a Tzeentch caster with the book throwing 2 lores are over. |

I think that they finally managed to get their point across. "This is to make Exalteds and Lords into casters, not casters into better casters!" |

On a related note: What Lore is the Spell Familiar's spell selected from if the bearer of the Book is marked? I know that, in 7th edition, the Spell Familiar's spell had to be from the same Lore as the bearer's mark, but the wording of the item has changed significantly... |

No it didnt. The book says what lores the spell can be from. Death Fire or Shadow IIRC |

Yes, but doesn't the spell from the spell familiar still count towards the mark the sorcerer has? For example, A exalted with a Tzeench mark is given the book. He has fireball. Then he gets the spell familiar. The extra spell from the familiar would be a Tzeenchian spell? OR! would it be another fire spell? |

Well the book says he is a lv1 wizard that knows spells from the lore of Death, Fire or Shadow. The lore requirements for marks are only on sorcerers. I don't have my books with me right now but I believe that the wording requiring you to take the lore is under the sorcerer entry or it specifically mentions sorcerers. If no one else can post page numbers before I get around to it Ill post the wording later. |

The only reason to put the book/familiar combo on a lvl 1 w/ the MoT would be to get the +1 to cast for a lore other than the lore of Tzeentch. Other than that, you would take your extra spell from whichever lore you choose - Fire, Shadow, or Death. |

Not even worth it on a lv1. An exalted or a Lord with the MoT would get the +1 as well if they had the book |

I don't think having the book would entitle a character to Arcane items either. |

I don't see why not. The book makes them a level 1 wizard, wizards can take arcane items. |

The only reason I can see to put a Book of Secrets on a sorceror is that it is the cheapest way to access Lore of Shadow (assuming you haven't already purchased another character that has a spare 25 points for an enchanted item and you don't want to invest in a unit of chosen). I'm not sure how the spell familiar + BoS is intended to work with regards to marks. In fact I'm confused as to how just BoS and Marks interact due to the rules for chaos wizards / sorcerors. |

Well, your character gets the mark, and the bonus from the mark. And then he's a lvl 1 sorceror with other lores. They don't really conflict... For example, you'll keep the +1 from MoT for casting even when you have another lore to cast from. |
