River Trolls, Chaosified; Ideas and/or pictures!

Hi!

I've decided on using trolls with my army, and given the choice of trolls in the GW range i reckoned that river trolls will be the easiest to convert to the worship of the dark gods!

So if anyone has experience, pictures, or ideas for how to make these watery beings into chaosified monstrosities, please post! If i get the right inspiration i'll post pics of how they are coming along, so fingers crossed!

Just post any idea that comes along, don't be afraid :P

Some extra arms / tentacles / spikes / heads will help to chaosify them. Spare parts from the Chaos Spawn sprues would be good for this purpose.

Champion of Nurgle
A fellow did some Nurgle Trolls using the River Trolls (an idea I'm starting to consider, since all of my tactical decisions are based on what I read on forums). I can't remember the thread, but for $2 I'll do some searching and try to find it. I remember commenting on it. He was running 6x2, with the three in the back being the river trolls and the three in the front being vomit victims. Swanky!

Edit: When were those Warhammer World trolls due to come out, or is that likely not for quite sometime?

Edit: I found the post I was talking about!

I tried just what eta said and put some tentacles and bits on some of the new river trolls as well as a few old models. I haven't painted them yet, but i like the subtle results so far.

They are awesome! The conversions are very well hidden, and if I didn't know better I would have thought they had been cast like it. Thanks for sharing, and can't wait to see them painted!

Nice mate, im well impressed, may have to try that myself eventually!
Thanks for the inspiration, cant wait to see your paint job!

Also did you have to green stuff much or was a lot of it just arm swaps??

Thanks guys, that's been a genius bit of intel and i've got loads of ideas now ^^

I bought the spawn set, and i'll be making the trolls look awesome over the next few weekends. I can only hope mine turn out as well as Arsenals.

Mind you...subtle results?

One troll has FIVE ARMS!

I might add in a second river troll arm under a first for some intra-rivertroll chaosification.

Thanks for the kind words.

I used only small amounts of green stuff to cover some of the gaps where the tentacles met the arms as they don't fit perfectly. Honestly you could just file the shoulder slot down on the troll and the plastic glue would just meld the rest nicely.

The spawn kit is brilliant, especially for the price and the amount of bits you get. I used some of the claw and tentacle bits as tails on my Warhounds because I hate the little tiny tails GW supplies.

Hopefully I will get the rest of the army built this weekend, post up some pics in a fresh blog, and then start the long road of paint ahead!

GL with your troll conversions Pilch, I can't wait to see them!

I'm just a little bit jealous of how nice those warhounds look too...

Sadly i glued them together aaaages ago. >.<

My brother pointed out that the conversions were subtle, and not the trolls themselves. Sorry for the confusion (or any offense caused :S), i just saw great big hulking chaos trolls and couldn't see how trolls could be considered subtle in the slightest.

It's like trying to imagining a khorne infiltrator:
"targets in sight"
"ok six, try and slip round them"
"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!"

I would pay money to see that, I do not lie. A Khorne Berzerker Secret Agent's life of mishaps and "messy" endings.

Agent 008.

The Skull Throne. Skulls for the Skull Throne.

Picks up a Daemonette or two along every escapade.

^ winnar!

Back on topic: troll 1 and 2 now half-built. troll 2 has two left arms (yet to be green'd to make it look correct) and troll 3 will have two heads, one being sick.

and then afterwards i get to go crazy with spawn bits, and green stuffing mouths into their chests and arms!

no idea how to greenstuff a mouth mind you...
