I'm taking my WoC to doubles tournament and I'm in need of good advice since I don't have any kind of insight nor I have any experience on that matter. Armies will be 2500pts, there will be AC which will severely limit game breaking elements. Magic will be 2d6, no more than 4PD thrown in single spell, no more han 2 extra PD/ 3extra DD generated per turn. Units will be 400pts/40 models max. Max 4 warmachines per army, max 3 fliers, no more than 50 shooters, no double rares, no special characters. My partner is playing Vampire Counts. Vampires will be additionaly restricted - no both Helm and Drakenhoff in same army. The thing that puzzles me the most is what characters to bring to table and how to equip them so they can efficiently work together and with both armies. |

Characters that would benefit working with vampires... Perhaps a Tzeentch wizard using Call to Glory to transform a skeleton into an Exalted Hero? :D |

On a more serious note, Vampires can have some pretty hard to kill units of Infantry. You will be bringing the hitting power. So you want characters like Festus, units like Chaos Knights and Great-weapon horde marauders. |

Yeah, i know that.. He's anvil, i'm hammer, obviously. But what about characters? I guess i should give him all magic phase, since vamps are very dependant on Invocation and Van Hel's.That 2 spells, along with Drakenhoff and Helm is what makes Vampires strong. I'm actually thinking of not fielding Lord choice at all and just put those points into extra unit of Knights or similar. |

lvl 1 sorcerer with skull of katham and place it near his vamp so he has +1 to cast :P. other then that use hard hitting combat monsters of khorne vamps tend to last long but lack hitting khorne champions tend to do just that and have a mass of attacks specialy if you give it an add hand weap and a magic weap that adds extra attacks. |

You explicitly cannot combine an additional hand weapon with a magical weapon. Check page 91 of the BRB, under the description for Two/Additional Hand Weapons.

Don't skimp out on the magic phase. Do your friend a favor by bringing out an Infernal Puppet, it'll be a lot more helpful then you think. |

Yes, i will surely bring Puppet to the table. Lvl1 sorc, barded steed, puppet, ironcurse icon, charmed shield I run this guy in every game i play, no matter if i go magic heavy or not. It's not only protection from dangerous miscast for friendly mages, it's also nightmare for opponent's spellcasters. It's an 35pt item that can kill 535pt Slann. You don't go to battlefield without Puppet, i'm very well aware of that. What i'm more interested in is are there any particulary useful character/item/abilities combos for Vamps&Chaos together. For example, if my partner was Dark Elf there would be obvious synergy between Ring Of Hotek and Infernal Puppet. So, is there something i cannot see? |
