Hey, Does anyone use command models for their Ogres? I'm just wondering if they are worth their points or not. dp |

I think trolls would be a better option. |

cost , how they perform in combat , low WS low I , slow , low Ld. and the fact that you can get trolls for the same points. |

Thanks for your help. I already have 10 Ogres, so I think I will do a standard bearer, and 3 with GW, 3 with additional hand weapon and 3 just with hand weapon. dp |

I don't think you can equip them differently in the same unit. I probably wouldn't take a champion, muso and standard is probably handy. The word on the street is that trolls are better, but chaos ogres do look damn cool! |

My bad, I should add that my gaming group does not mind a bit of proxying. If the front rank is armed with GW, then the whole unit is. So I'll just put which ever configuration I am going with in the front rank and go from there. As for trolls, I can see their benefits over ogres, but I just never take them. I know people have a lot of success with them, which is good. I just have never been a troll sort of guy. |

I also vote for standard and musician, but no champion. In such a hard-hitting unit you really don't want a to lose most of your attacks because they got charged by a character on a mount who challenged the champion. And to the people going on about trolls when the question was about ogres: we already have a few threads about that. Don't bring the thread off topic before there's a satisfying answer to the original question. |

If you're going to use ogres, putting any command in depends on the number of models you'll be running in the unit. If you're running 4 in a 2x2 as a support unit, I don't think that you're really going to need any command. If you're looking at running 6 or more, then I'd probably opt for the standard and musician. You can probably leave the champ at home. 20pts for +1A isn't worth it and he may be forced into a challenge like Unu pointed out. |
