Hello As a Lizardmen player, I have the perfect solution to warmachines... my beloved chameleon skinks!! They're fairly cheap, can scout, and rain down sweet sweet poison death on enemy warmachines. :D Now that I'm starting up a WoC army, I was wondering what is the best unit or way to kill of enemy warmachines? Especially since we can no longer field furies :( . Warhounds or Marauder Cavalry seem like potential units for the job, but they're so soft <_< . Maybe an exalted on a disc? What is the best unit to go warmachine hunting? What is the best tactic? I'm looking to write up an all comers list, so I don't want to devote too many points. Just wondering what is a good balance points wise, for a 2000 point army. Cheers |

Dogs, hands down. You like poison? Give your dogs poison! I did (because I stupidly forgot to give my Warriors of Tzeentch the blasted standard and suddenly found myself with 45 points to kill! HMMM!!!). But yeah, they did good. :) Especially against Dwarf war machines. Or your precious Sorcerer on disk. I haven't fielded this guy in awhile, but I usually have an Exalted Hero on a disk with the Glaive of Putrification, the pot of strength and a shield for monster/ war machine hunting. |

I use one of four things when facing WM's: 1. Dogs - somewhat unreliable 2. Exalted on disc - maybe excessive 3. Wulfrik - certainly excessive, but damn sweet 4. Cursing at the opponents arty dice until they misfire - the most reliable |

I find an exalted on a disc to be relaible. 3+ ward is tough to get through, so he usually gets there. He can be used for other things as well (flank charges, clearing out redirectors, chasing loan characters, etc). so I do not view him a waste of points. Hinge |

I use horsemen to deal with war machines because their cheap, they pack a punch, and have fast calv and vanguard, which you would get to the warmachines in turn 2. if the enemy shoots at them, it is at least one less turn of shooting your warriors and knights. you can also use a hellcannon as a culverin(anticannnon) but it can be inaccurate and should be shot at the horde infantry. |

I actually use a deathstar of Chaos Knights myself. Give them a Ranger's Standard and then tack on the Blasted Standard via a BSB on Steed. Best solution in my terrain-heavy, anti-magic, gunline-centric metagame. By Tzeentch, I hate my local metagame. <_< |

horsemen with MoS, you have to kill all 5 to remove them as a threat and still very cheap. |

You're not equating Break test with Panic ? or you mean just vs. shooting damage ? In which case wouldnt a unit of 5 just be giving vp away ? I use 1 or 2 units of 10 horsemen with MoN/LA/Shields/javelins , if its a gunline I throw my knights in also w/ MoT/Blasted Stnd which includes a Tzeentch Sorcerer w/ stream of corruption and a unit of marauders w/ Wulfrick. |

In a 2000 point all comers list, what is a good amount of points to spend on warmachine hunting units? |

I would say around <250 because of using cheap units so the enemy would not get a lot of points out of them. a example is a exalted on a disk or 2 units of 5 mok horsemen with flails. |

No im not at all MoS horsemen are great because they are the cheapest possible horsemen you can get that will almost always reach the enemy gunline. In my experience they can usually tie combat with warmachine crews of any race, not to mention that if the enemy is shooting your horsemen and not your warriors then they've earned their points back. |

I'm not sure why there is any disagreement over this. Clearly the best way to deal with WM's is to cuss the arty dice until they misfire. End of story. |

Exacty, say "misfire" or "its going to miss" just before your opponent rolls the dice. Never fails when it succeeds. |
