Stream of Corruption; Is it really useful or just a gimmick?

I was contemplating putting this gift on either my BSB or sorcerer lord for a bit of fun, however I'm not really convinced it's really worth it.

What has peoples experiences with stream of corruption been like? Is it that useful, or is it just a fun filler item for the odd game?

Depends on a lot of things, like how mobile the character , what enemies you face & what unit the character might be inside. I like to use it on my Sorc lord on disc, it's good on him for those times he gets caught in combat by fast cavalry or enemy fliers, usually kills 2-3 models winning him the combat.
Also if it's the last turn & it hasn't been used yet you can always try & get an extra kill by actually using it as a Breath Weaon.
Overall I think it's worth the 20 points if you have it spare.

In the list I am considering using it in, both my sorcerer lord and BSB are on foot. Sorcerer lord will be in horde unit of khorne marauders and BSB in tzeentch warrior block.

Dunno which would benefit from it more

Champion of Nurgle
I use it on my BSB, partly for the Nurgle theme, partly because I like to spit all over dudes in close combat. It hasn't blown me away since its only str 3, and they still get an armour save (even if it is reduced). If you have an extra twenty points floating around you could go for it, but I too am now thinking about dropping it for something more fancy.

I was thinking of putting it on my Sorcerer Lord but I've opted for Bloodcurdling Roar instead. Not sure if that is a better choice, but my thinking was that being able to use it more than once and ignoring armor saves might be useful. Of course it can't help you in combat, but I'm hoping I can use the disc of Tzeentch to keep the sorcerer out of combat.

I only like it against T3 dudes with crappy armor. Throwing the template down from a disc guy onto a battle bus of clanrats/empire generic infantry is pretty fun.
Other than that I've found it to be mostly unhelpful. If I need extra kills in a challenge its because I'm fighting a harcore character, and in that case it never really does much. Maybe one wound after it's all said and done.
