In terms of trying to field Great Weapon Marauders I am coming around on the idea of these:

They are a touch smaller than normal Maraduers, but with properly sculpted Great-Weapons already in place I think these would look perfect for Marauders of Khorne. Although if you are fielding a large unit of 40+ this is a very expensie way to go. I am currently considering running 6 orso of these in the front rank.

5:th edition marauders look the best, Beorg's Bearmen of Urslo are quite nice as well.
You'll need to find them on Ebay though.
x2

I have also seen people convert flagellants into them, give them head swaps, would make for some effective cultists that have joined the horde if you don't want to go with the northern theme.

I was thinking maybe orc boyz would make a interesting base with some conversion, replacement heads and weapons.

Orc Boyz definitely have the bulk for what Marauders are flavored to look like. Their stooping posture is bound to be a bit of an issue, though.

Has anyone actually used the plastic wargames factory vikings? I like the idea of 32 for £16 but my experience of 28mm wargames figures is they don't fit scale wise very well with Warhammers Herioc 28mm.

Yeah, some folks commented on them a while back, and the general consensus was that they look kind of puny next to actual Marauders or Chaos Warriors.
