Hi! I'm thinking about giving the champion of a unit of Chosen the Book of Secrets. Is there any reason that shouldn't work according to the rules? Also, do you think it would be a good idea? It would certainly be cool... :D Theo |

You can do it so long as the unit does not bear the Mark of Khorne. I've seen it done but I still prefer the Collar of Khorne to give the unit MR2. |

Yes. Awesome! B) I gotta try it soon, just the thought of a champion throwing a PSoX or killing a character opposing them from range is totally worth it. :D Theo |

I love the idea, but in the past I've used chosen as a caddy for the Banner of Wrath, which didn't go down well. I want to use this create a list for the most spells in an army (I calculate 16 spells + Banner of Wrath with this technique) |

I'd not use the Favour in this case. Note that this is by no means a cookie-cutter build, more for fun. I would, However, put the Wailing Standard on these chosen to help with the EotG rolls somewhat. The favour is awesome, but not necessary. ^_^ What Lore should this support caster have BTW? Fire could be nice, nearly all of it's spells are good or at least quite good. Shadow is of course cool, but with only 1 spell not so much. If we already had a Sorc Lord with Shadows then that would be redundant. Death is of course good, and no-one would expect a seemingly caster-less unit to churn out a character killer spell or even a Psun. :D What do you guys think? Theo |

I like the idea but i would stick to the fog/wailing combo to be competitive. Also if your displaying your list for all to see like you should then it will be even less effective. Has their ever been a decision about if they are marked with nurgle/TZ? Can we have a TZ caster with a 2+ to cast with the Book? |

You can. What is so great about it is that you get a tzeentch sorcerer that cast's spells from a different lore. |

I do use Book of Secrets but I wouldnt use it in this manner for fear of a miscast dropping the big template right over those expensive Chosen killing the Champion and a chunk of the unit. Relying on one dice casting rolls isn't desirable either as with a 1 in 3 chance of outright failure it could be a bit of a waste. |

Yeah, it might fail, but I have used this idea to great usefulness. I typically put the book on my BSB with mark of tzeentch and lore of shadow and always take Miasma. The bonus die generated by the book gives you the one die you need to cast the spell. In the event it is anything higher than a 2, you cast the spell, which will either help you weaken a unit, or will draw out a dispel die or two, therefore making it easier for your main caster to get his spells through. It isn't a tactic that will win you games, but it will definitely give you one more advantage, and the Ruinous Powers take all the help they can get to smash the other races ;-) |

Whereabouts do you get this bonus casting die from? The Book of Secrets doesn't provide you with any additional dice. |

I'd be afraid of miscasts on such a pretty unit so if I gave it an item like that I'd go for the Ruby Ring. This way at worst the item blows itself up and doesn't take your power unit with it. You won't get the snazy assortment of spells, but it may be handy to shoot fleeing stuff in the rearend or kill something small and annoying that may try slowing you down. |
