I am fairly new to warriors of chaos, and have played several games against a friend who plays wood elves. So far he has defeated me in every encounter, and i feel as though i may be doing something wrong. If anyone experienced in playing WoC could help me it would be much appreciated. BTW at this point i only posses the battalion plus a sorcerrer of tzeentch on disk, the wood elf player has a large ammount of dryads, wardancers, archers and a treeman, and frequently takes hail of doom arrow, any advice on what to purchase next would also be very helpful. Thanks, OPwarhound |

buy in some more marauders , marauder horsemen and warriors and an exalted hero ( can choose on foot or on mount ) then you'll have a lot more tactical choices |

The Lore of Heavens is pretty good versus shooting, what with Iceshard Blizzard shutting down a shooting unit of your choice and Comet of Casandora forcing another to move or die. But against Wood Elves, Tzeentch or Fire would be an excellent way to handle Treemen/Dryads by capitalising on their weakness to fire. |

There are actually only 2 units in the woodelf army that have the flaming rule. That would be treemen and treekin. dyrads only have 1 wound, so theres no point in giving them flaming. |

but yes i do find that overall tzeentch is very good against WE because of its mainly offensive spells. For instance i once nearly one shot his highborne with flickering fire (a very lucky ward save spared him the last wound) and once i ate half of his large dryad block with gateway XD |

hey, I sometimes play with my WoC agianst woodelfs. now mostly my friend brings an all tree army. that is not that good. but i found out that Dragon Ogres work great agianst them. mostly i play them in a block of 6. getting a total of 18 s5 attacks (not sure about the str dont have book here with me) and if u put them up agianst infantry such as wardancers they also get an additional 3 stomp attacks. marauders are great to. i play them in a horde (10 by 4) with great weapons or 6 by 3 with flails. in the horde they will be with enough to do a lot of s5 attacks. and in the smaller formation they will strike first most of the times because of there initiative. for also s5 attacks in first round of combat. And my favorite agianst all armies is a Hellcannon. it sucks if u dont make the leadership test. althoug mine hold out for 3 turns agianst a new Tomb kings sphinx. dont forget that if ur hellcannon accedently (or not) runs into the wardancers it gets an additional thunderstomp because of the monster special rule. agianst shooting u can try to get some knights in there fast. but in my experiance is they get shot at alot before they get into CC. hope this helped a bit. |

thanks man, i am planning to make a 10x4 marauder horde with GW and MoK, and i think a hellcanon, while reportedly being incredibly hard to assemble, would be a good choice. |

Hellcannons are a pain to assemble and the model isn't really representative of what it is. Particularly the part where it's almost as nasty in CC as it is at range. Just convert one from something else. A Tyranid Pyrovore might make a good base, though mine uses a Soul Grinder. |

Converting can be fun, but I'd opt for the actual Hellcannon model. It is one of my favorite models in the WoC range. |
