For those of us who are not English (or American,...) the wording " ... by up to D3" can cause a bit of a problem.

If you roll a 2 on the D3, does this mean you can modify a roll of 5 on the miscast table to 3, 4, 6 and 7 or just 3 and 7?

"Up to" means exactly the result or anything lower, so a 5 could in that case be modified to a 2,3,4,(5),6,7,8 if you rolled a 3 on your D3. :)
