You are allowed to full upgrade a summoned unit discounting it's magic item allowance. |

Just played my first SoM game, 3v3 2000 points each with 10 fulcrums. Was damn cool! Big monster battle in the center, a Steg, Arach and Warsphinx vs Chaos Dragon and Manticore DE Lord. Destruction side was looking to take the win after the Chaos Dragon ate the Grey Seer, and Infernal Puppet miscasts blew the other Order level 4's up (Skaven got stuck fighting for order :P). However, the Frog miscast leveled the playing field when Order started sniping frogwizards. That hurt! Turn 6 for Destruction had my wizard 4 dicing the teleport spell to ensure his safe control of a fulcrum through Order's last turn. Miscast turned everyone into frogs, Destruction's two level 4's and Order's last cast - a Skaven engineer. No way for anyone to unfrog and get back onto a fulcrum in time. Engineer didn't have a fulcrum for Seven Sigil and didn't have Skitterleap. After the insanity there was no way to win by fulcrums from anyone. Came down to VP and Destruction took it. Observations - Unbind, unbind, unbind! Goodbye Nog! In team games, Lore of Heaven's Equilibrium Fate of Somethingorother gives all friendly wizards re-rolls to casting, dispel and channeling. No enemy wizard wants that up. Double Infernal Puppet is awesome. |

I also played my first Storm of Magic game today. 2000 Points Tzeentch Sorcerer on a Disk of Tzeentch (level 4 & Army General) - Charmed Shield, Dawn Stone, Infernal Puppet, Potion of Healing, & Bloodcurdling Roar Nurgle Sorcerer (level 1) - Dispel Scroll & 3rd Eye of Tzeentch Tzeentch Exhalted Champion (BSB) - shield, Book of Secrets, & Scroll of Shielding 42 Chaos Marauders w/ Full Command bearing the Mark of Khorne and Great Weapons 43 Chaos Marauders w/ Full Command bearing the Mark of Khorne and Great Weapons 20 Chaos Warriors w/ Full COmmand bearing the Mark of Khorne and Halberds Slaanesh Chaos Giant 9 Harpies with Killing Blow 1 Casket of Souls 1 Arabyan Puzzlebox I made a mistake of not knowing I needed a Heirophant so my Casket had to take crumble checks every round. I put it near my General and it passed them all. My Army General had +5 to cast, +3 for the book, and most of the game +4 for his ascendant lore for a total of +12. He was throwing off so many spells per turn it was just sick! And getting the extra dice from the Casket of Souls plus the Arabyan Puzzlebox meant I was getting most of my spells through too. Also he had his leaderhip boosted to 10 for half the game, was toughness 6 or 7 for half the game, and had re-rollable 1+ armour save with a 2+ ward save he took everything in the face and laughed. I think he took 18 ST4 hits, 2 ST10 hits, & 6 or 7 ST6 hits and in the end took 1 wound. He never bothered to drink his potion of healing...! The Slaanesh Giant was a rockstar. No monster would attack him. And he reached into a Fulcrum and stuck a Wizard in his pocket. The Wizard crawled out later when the Giant was dead but my opponent was terrified of him! And he charged on Turn 1!! With the sily amount of power dice I was rolling (I'd roll low and then generate a bunch more and totally overwhelm my opponent) it wasn't a very close game. On one turn I had 24 power dice to my opponent's 10. I tried almost got a Demon Prince on the table with Papa Nurgle's Circle of Life. But othewise the rest of the units we brought were just a distraction. Our foot troops barely engaged. It was just about the wizards. And it was silly. But fun! |

Played a 3K game of SoM today. Three per side with 1K each. Highlights White lions smashing through 2 or 3 units of Goblins only to realise that they were on the other side of the board and away from the action. An Arachnarok took a unit of 25 saurus in the front and another in the flank. Died 7 rounds of combat later leaving only 5 Saurus alive! My Cockatrice charging a stink priest on a fulcrum, wounding it and chasing it off. Only for another skink priest to get on the fulcrum and hit the poor thing with multiple lore of heaven spells and kill it Fireball barrage killing a elf wizard Level 1 fireball killing a fulcrumless skink priest Ogre Bulls with the wind catcher prism regaining 3 bulls after a good combat. 7 Cairan wraiths cutting through a steggadon 30 elf spearmen and 20 seaguard Great fun game. However once my fire wizard got the magic flux and barraged the elf we knew we were going to win. Fireball barrage is just wrong. |
