Warrior of the Chamber

Hey everyone, I'm painting Chaos warriors at the moment. I was almost done, only had to decide on how to do the shields. I already 6 finished with what I thought where nice shields, but I now also got a different colour scheme. The warriors are not themed, so they don't have to look like a kind of god. Was just wondering what you people liked best. And which one you guys thinks suits best for chaos warriors. These are with a bit of a blue-ish glow. These are just red/black with metal dry brused over it. Tnx already for your thoughts, Mr.D P.S. hoping the upload of the images works like this. Never done it before :P |

You would need to create a photobucket account and upload them to the photobucket site from your hard drive then hover over the image you want to show and it will open a drop down menu and you click on the img code then you just paste that into the post your writing and then your image will show up in the post. |

The shields with the blue look really nice. It would be interesting to see that effect done on the swords as well. |

Both sets look excellent. The only thing that I would change is that little bit of red you have on the blue shields. I would go with a rust or copper color sort of that aged metal look there instead of the red. The red is to much contrast imho it draws away from the rest of the shield. |

Both sets of shield are pretty slick. I'd give the edge to the blue ones! |

The blue glowing shields are sweet, but there's too much contrast with the rest of the model. Alric mentioned the red on the shields, but as the star is meant to be the focal point, I disagree. There are a lot of light tones on the Chaos Warrior itself (silver edging, light brown on boots, gold buckle) which detract from the glow. Darkening the gold, leather and silver (even by a small amount) would improve this. |

hey, tnx for all the replies. will upload a picture when the unit is ready. only have 6 more to go. i will see if i can make them somewhat darker, would this work with some devlinmud wash? or just repaint it in darker colours such as using boltgun metal in stead of chainmail? Mr.D |

Devlan Mud works well if you want to give the models a worn feel (also good with brass I hear), but I suspect that's not the look you're going for so maybe for boots. Never used BGM so I don't know. You could try using a light black wash (ie. Chaos Black + plenty of water) on the silver on the armour so you can adjust the darkness accordingly (if it starts to look too dark, add more water, too light more paint). Try a test area such as the kneecap first. |

Hey,
Ok cool I will try that. I also sprayed some of my models with Anti-Shine. First few went great. But some models got a white shade over them. anyone know how to correct this without painting the whole model agian? and how to prevent this from happening agian? Mr.D |

The blue shields look amazing. I think I can guess how you accomplished it, but mind letting me know so I don't have to do any guesswork? :-p |
