Hey guys I've been thinking about spell #3 of the lore of Tzeentch: Is it that good or did we overrate it?

I know forcing to use the squads leadership instead of their characters is useful against a couple opponents but what about the part for if he rolls doubles on a cast, it's an auto miscast.

The fact that it's a RIP makes most of my opponents let me waste a few dice on it and then dispel it with their own power dice in their magic phase even before it can effect them. With a low dispel cost of 8 and being dispelled by a lv2 or even worse a lv4 mage, usually its only a minor inconveinience instead of having the devastating effects it should have.

I'd like to know if I'm missing something or just your opinions on this.

I myself say against some armies the Pandi spell is quite awesome...for instance skaven. Or orks and goblins. The fact that you also get the miscasts on a double is good thing too...you get 2 things out of one spell...sounds like a nobrainer to me.

Keep in mind the consequences of Pandamonium - it give you a bonus and it impares your opponent. During your turn it can make the Panic test caused by a Hellcannon downright scary! In your opponent's phase, he pretty much HAS to dispel it and anything that takes away from your enemy's power dice is a very good thing. Plus I've had enemies fail to dispel it and their magic phase is suddenly shut down! Probalby the best spell in the game.

It looks studly to me. I'm going to run it as soon as I can my Daemon Prince project is finished, let you know how it goes then (provided I roll it).

It is useful against pretty much every army except Dwarves. Not allowing your opponent to use characters leadership is good against most armies and great against others (O&G, Skaven). Against dwarves who have ld9 all around well, it doesn't do much. The lowered leadership has all sorts of useful synergy though. It can make steadfast almost negligible. your opponent's steadfast unit of night gobbos that were ld7? They are still steadfast sure but on ld5, odds are they are going to break. Works great with doom and darkness too. The Hellcannon causing panic tests also becomes much more effective as well.

As to the miscast causing stuff, well most people are going to dispel it but they will generally have to throw 2 dice at it to make sure. That's 2 power dice they aren't using to cast spells at you and I think anyone would be happy about siphoning off 2 power dice from their opponent. On the off chance they decide not to dispel it (or fail to dispel it) they are taking a BIG risk casting anything on more than 2 dice, especially if you have the puppet. Of course Dwarves can't miscast so yeah... although my regular dwarf opponent always dispels it because what else is he going to do with powerdice in his magic phase?

Pandaemonium is one of the spells in the Lore of Tzeentch that still keeps it somewhat competitive when compared to the awesomeness of the new rulebook lores. I hope it stays when GW eventually gets around to redoing the WoC book (which will probably be quite awhile as there is nothing that glaringly needs fixing in our book).
