Ok, so i've moded and kicked around a list for an uncoming GT in june. Points limit is 2500, kiaros and Teclis are banned, along with hydras and aboms being 0-1. demon infantry cannot exced 450 points in one unit, only 5 war machines and only 2 of same type, and ethereal units are a 0-3 and only 0-10 hexwraith models for VC. With this in mind, heres my list.

Lv4 Shadow sorcerer with spell familiar, talisman of preservation, enchanted shield=345

Exalted of tzeentch with shield, BSB, book of secrets, power familiar=200

Festus=185

Lv1 Fire sorcerer with infernal puppet and iron curse icon=130

CORE

28 warriors of nurgle with shields, halberds, full command, banner of rage=571

28 marauders of tzeentch with shields, light armour, full command=208

5 war hounds=30

5 war hounds=30

SPECIAL

8 knights of khorne with standard, musician, and the banner of discipline=390

RARE

Hell cannon=205

Hell cannon=205

TOTAL=2499

General idea is my combat units can take on most anything in the game. For the things they can't win a straight fight with, shadow magic helps swing the fight in my favor, plus the shadow/nurgle combo with festus can mean whole units wiped from the table. Knights are more like a cruise missile for tough monsters and small units that they don't have to worry about being tied up with for long. Cannons drop heat rocks on massed infantry or form up with the battle line if im fighting MSU armies. Exalted acts as the BSB along with generating 2 power dice automatically helping to insure i have at least ok magic phases. lv1 sits with the marauders to give them a 5+ vs warmachines since they are the weak link in the army.

Love u magic combination :) I dont realy find any fail points or thought change from this list. Keep going on same way and GL to GT tourny :rock:

Book of secrets gives no more 1 additional DP, it only makes you a lvl1 mage.

I worked on a similar shadow-based list, and i also run power familiar, along with the homunculus, cause shadow lore has very high casting values, and you need extra DP to do the work.
That said, I don't like the rest of the list. While Festus can be a nice add, i think the fire mage can be dropped, giving the puppet to the lord. That occasional fireball is not worth 130 points, counting you're also running 2 HC as long ranged threats. You put much faith in your "combat units", but the only real one i see are the warriors, 28 tzeench marauders sure are not a menace, and knights nowadays work better as support than hammer....
I would personally go for an infantry-heavy list, which works great with the support of shadow lore, which makes tzeench warriors with HW and shield a great choice, cause whitering and mindrazor can overcome their only weakness, S4.

Really? I saw the FAQ saying that it made you a lv1 even if were already a higher level but didn't see where they said it no longer generated an additional power die. What FAQ is that with?

Anyway, as far as running the Lv1 fire mage, idea with him is that yes, i could drop him and put the puppet with my lord freeing up points for something else. Festus is not going to leave the army, he brings to much to the arm comined with the shadow caster. He is the reason that the warriors are marked nurgle instead tzentch, because he grants the whole unit 5+ regen. instead of giving them a 6+ ward. Any don't scouff at the marauders. If i put mindrazor off on them they get plenty fearsome. Last tournement had them break chosen twice. Not to mention if i put withering/enfeebling plus miasma on the unit they are fighting it makes taking on other units a breeze. Sure knights are scary to marauders, until your strength 1. Had them take a charge from a Gut-Bus loaded with characters and hold for three rounds until the warriors flank charged the Bus.

Additionally, the fire mage is present to soften,possibly take wounds off of regen monsters or throw a fire all at ethereal units seeing as how he is my only "magical" range threat.
