Played my first Storms of Magic battle (epic to say the least). Went up against a dwarf army and based on the sucess of my last tzeentch isnpired list, Clan Kingslayer i decided to expand it for this battle. So here it is: Clan Dragon Torc 2499pts Lord: Chaos Lord (Degeva Zoroaster, The Prime Observer) 555pts Mark of Tzeentch, Disc of Tzeentch, Tailismen of Preservation, Enchanted SHield, Crimson Armour of Dargan, Favour of the Gods, The Dawnsword. {1+As, 3+ws, Fly, fear, 10 s5 attacks that hit and wound automatically) Heros: Exatled Hero (Locutus Noien, Bane of Creation) 179pts Mark of Tzeentch, Collar of Khorne, dragon bane gem, flail, battle standard bearer. Chaos Sorcerer (Acin Bore, Disciple of Apocalypse) 135pts Level 2 Sorcerer: Lore of Shadows, spell familiar Chaos Sorcerer (Helos Geass, Fate's Fool) 165pts Mark of Tzeentch, Level 2 Wizard, Infernal Puppet Core: The Legions of Times Past, Present, and Future 25 Chaos Marauders 190pts full command, mark of tzeentch, light armour, great weapons 25 Chaos Marauders 190pts full command, mark of tzeentch, light armour, great weapons 20 Chaos Warriors 385pts full command, mark of tzeentch, halberd, standard of discipline 4 units of 5 chaos warhounds @ 30pts a pop Special: (Relativity and Perception) Chaos Chariot 120pts Chaos Chariot 120pts 9 Chaos Knights (The Northern Fist) Standar Bearer, Musician, mark of tzeentch, blasted standard Rare: (The God's Hands) 2 Choas Hellcannons @ 205 a pop  Monster/Magic: 2 Giant Spined Chaos Beasts @ 240 a pop Each had the Mark of Slaanesh for the Always Strike First. The Dawnsword 200pts As described above (We decided to ban this item after the battle as my lord, single handed, took out a unit of Joseph Bugman's Longbeard Raiders of 25 strong in two turns. He had: 3 runesmiths (one with the rune that destroys magic weapons, not sure what the others had) 1 dwarf lord 1 dwarf character as the battle standard Joseph Bugman 2 units of 25 long beard raiders fully decked out 1 unit of 30 hammerers 1 unit of 20 thunderers 2 cannons 2 organ guns fozzoricks folding fortress 14 Chaos Warhounds ^o) not sure what he was thinking with that selection. 1 Cygor The battle lasted 2 turns and he surrendered. Chaos Hellcannons were the MVPs once more with a total death toll of 21 Long beard Rangers an organ gun, and 1 wound on the Cygor. The Giant Spiked Chaos Beasts are awesome (Swiftsriding Monsters, w/7 s6 attacks, regeneration and other goodness :D). And the Dawn Sword is just too brutal enough said. Dawnsword is a Mythical Item that can only be played in a Storms of Magic Battle. Mythical Items are like magic items in that there are classes (weapon, armour, enchanted, arcane), however they do not go toward character costs but toward ones magic/monster/army pact allotment. Further, depending on the number of arcane fulcrums one possess the mythical items will get boosts. Dawnsword: Doubles the models attacks profile possess 1 fulcrum: auto hits possess same amount as opponent: auto hits and wounds possess 1 more than opponent: auto hits and wounds that do not 1 but 2D6 wounds If you fail to cause a wound with it the entire battle the model is removed as a casualty at the end of the game. Good luck having that happen. I was in the second class from the start of the game and had it with my Chaos Lord on a Disc (10 S5 auto-wounds) so he saw combat by turn 2. Caused 8 wounds in first round of close combat and 10 in the second against a unit of 25 sum-odd. Bugman's Longbeard Rangers. |

After playing variations of this army and decisively winning 4 consecutive battles versus missile happy armies (Wood Elves, Empire, Skaven, Dwarfs) i have decided on my standard 2000pt fluff list. Clan Dragon Torc: Characters: Damocles Zoroaster, Prime Observer 405pts Chaos Sorcerer Lord:Level 3-MoT-DoT-Tailismen of Armour of Destiny-Dragonbane Gem-Infernal Puppet Acin Bore, Bane of Creation 240pts Exalted Hero: BSB-MoT-DoT-Book of Secrets-Dispell Scroll-shield-Bloodcurdling Roar Core: Thought 250pts 35 Chaos Marauders Full Command-Great Weapons-Light Armour-Mark of Tzeentch Memory 250pts 35 Chaos Marauders Full Command-Great Weapons-Light Armour-Mark of Tzeentch Non-Min: 4x 5 Chaos Warhounds 120pts Naked Special: Past, Present, and Future 360pts 3x Chaos Chariots Rare: The Hand's of the Gods 410pts 2x Chaos Hellcannons 2000pts on the dot Short Rundown: I tend to place my warhounds first in order to see as much of my opponents army as possible. I then place my marauder blocks at a max of 24 inches apart. I tend to place my chariots in such a way that two work in tandem and the spare as a detachment for my infantry blocks. I place my Hellcannons to anchor each flank. I place my characters as their own unit (flying skirmishers ;)). Turn1: Two goals: Get off Pandemonium and fire with Hellcannons Turn2: One goal: Get my chariots into close combat, ideally with war machines, gun lines, fast cav, or any other unit that gives them the best chance to overrun. Turn 3: Two Goals: Begin moving up Hellcannons if needed. Get the marauders where i need them for a flank charge. Turn 4: Get all my units into close combats they can win Turn5: Don't screw up. Turn 6: Get/save any victory points i can. I am not sure of my Exalted Hero set up but i want the dispel scroll and i figure i could drop the mark and disc so he can be a fire wizard in a marauder unit. Thinking: book of secrets, collar of khorne and sword of ruin for his spell so my marauder blocks can get magical and flaming attacks as needed. Any thoughts, comments, and criticisms are welcome and appreciated greatly. |

Enchanted shield and CAoD. I could be mistaken as I don't have my books in front of me. |

I am not completely sure either. in the Magic armour section it states a model can have one suit of Armour and one magical shield, replacing any mundane equivalent. So the question is if the dragon helm and armour of destiny counts as two sets of armour or an armour and shield equivalent. The circle i play with sees it as legal but i am curious to see what others have to say. Thanks for the insight really good question that i do not really have the answer for. |
