I prefer a model that a slight breeze won't send flying.
Do you play Warhammer outdoors?

Horrible.

Cheap, poor quality resin which has no give and is a complete pain to work with.

Poor quality moulds - if you buy a model for £30 you shouldn't have any reason to send it back to be replaced - I don't get the people that think it's okay because they always replace them!

This 'finecast' detail con is a joke too - it's no more detailed than the metal models were - heck, half of the finecast stock uses the exact same moulds!

The only reason it was introduced was to make more money - resin is cheaper than metal. The fact they dress it up as some kind of super-detail just takes the michael. And they don't even use good quality resin.

I hate the fact I have to buy it to get anything new, but then it just gives me a reason to dislike GW even more.

Having said that, I can't see me stop collecting it (damn you GW, damn you...)

Pretty bad. I used some finecast minis for conversions and most of them required more cleanup than their metal counterparts. However all of these were finecast versions of formerly metal ones.
Since I am a huge conversion freak, I have also worked with resin minis from other sources and mostly they were fine (no pun intended) but finecast just fails in comparison.

Don't even get me started on the pricing.

Everyone saying they are more durable needs to get back to us in 5 years. I've got metal models that are in 100% perfect condition after a decade of ownership and use as well as being stripped and repainted. You're paying a ton of money, you should expect some longevity. The resale value of many older miniatures is something that was bothering GW I think.

I myself stopped purchasing new blisters from GW after trying out fine cast with 2 models. $25 for a single man-sized mode is too much for the amount of pain in my foot these things cause. Give me metal any day.

I have had good results with the few finecast models I own. That being said they were all originally finecast models. It seems the sculpts that were pewter and went to resin have more issues than the new stuff.

Finecast metal models I bought never gave me problems. I believe it is however out-dated and resin is so much better to work with. Lots of people complain, although I've never had issues. Have to be thankful I guess...

I got the Throgg finecrap model off EBAY cheap $15.00 USD. Its a piece of crap , its hollow , and only slightly less fragile than a dried tree leaf.

Im selling it back on EBAY , and going to put together a conversion with older metal models.

Regardless of my opinion on fine cast it will be going away. Eventually they will replace it with plastic. This was a cheap way to phase out metal until they make all the plastic molds. This of course could take a few years who knows?

it's no big deal to me, I just wish the prices would come down.

Isn't $60 for 10 dark elf witches cheap enough for you? ;)

hating the finecast too, will never purshase another finecast model ever again. too fragile, details often miscast, too much cleaning required on the model making it hard to work out where the details end and the flash begins and finally i cant use dettol to strip the model if i want to repaint it.

I've had no trouble with Finecast...maybe I'm lucky...but the two finecast models (Dark Eldar Archon and Amdur, Lord of Blades) had slightly bent swords...but I fixed the Archon's on with my lamp and will fix Amdur when I get the chance. I wouldn't recommend ordering it based on how others view it, but if you can find some in blisters in a store, you can probably weed out the bad models.

For me it depends on what you are comparing it to. Compared to old metal models: Amazing. Compared to Plastic Models: Okay(I've had good luck with them so far). Considering how great all the new plastic characters are, I don't see why they are necessary unless they can use the same moulds as the old metals.

I would rather gargle rusty nails than pin a model. So I'm cool with FC, despite the occasional problem.

I don't mind FC - it's better than metal but worse than plastic - so overall, I prefer to have it than not (seeing as we have plastic, getting rid of metal is only a good thing IMO).

I've had bendy models, huge holes, even had a headless deathmaster sniktch, but GW have replaced everything without fuss. Pinning is a worse pain than filling in air bubbles.
