anyone had much luck with using the Marauder Horsemen as a forward unit (thinking of getting some of the Hellstriders) to tie up tough enemy units and shooters to make time to get knights and warriors/chosen closer? I am working on an army like this, not using the skullcrushers and making use of the hellstriders and my existing Marauder Horsemen. I think it can work, do you? |

i was tossin up the idea of putin like a exalted/lord or a sorcerer n take 2 units of 5hellstriders after turn 1 i should b behide his lines n attack or worry him enough 2 force him 2 turn his units around n dance with the fast cav till i can either get a charge in2 his mage bunker or the skullcrushers n the main forces join the battle |

I think it is possible, but you are going to have to play it very unassumingly so as to not attract enough attention to blow up the units before they do anything. Maybe set them up on the far corners, with their movement they should be able to get where you need them quickly anyway, and be prepared for it to take a couple of turn. An exalted build to possibly try is: Exalted Hero Mark of Slaanesh, Steed of Slaanesh Crown of Command, Enchanted Sheild, Potion of Foolhardiness, Foebane Blade/Tormentor Sword. |

I can personally say that when i started playing WC i loathed marauder horsemen. I would field 2-3 squads of 5 and watch them all get blown away by turn 2. After many games i a became acquainted with more tactics other than "bulldozing" i began to learn how to use them less aggressively and more properly. Sure hounds can do many of the same things for cheaper (re-direct, screen, hunt war machines, speed bump, chaff hunt), but when you forget about point values a fast cav unit can do it all much better and more effectively. |

Marauder Cav of Slaanesh with throwing axes on your wings can drive your opponent bonkers. I run them in two troups of 10 in two ranks, giving 8 shooting. Just shields and no armour makes them an ultimate maneuver unit that doesn't run a way from the first dwarf volley you mistakingly lined them up for. Slaanesh is nice because they are still basically I2P, but can still flee and do the feinged flight. Just have to be aware of your angles to avoid running off table from the inevitable charge. |
