So after reading Hinge's latest posts a question popped in my head, "I wonder what style the majority of WC players utilize?"

Thus, this poll. I for one began with Hordes and am converting over to a more Hybrid style of 50% Horde 50% MSU. So what is you folks preferred style?

Please feel free to share why and any archetypes and strategies you find successful and thanks for your time and efforts.

You know me, I'm definitely a fan of the hybrid style. At least until the meta finds an appropriate counter, by then though I'm hoping the new book will be out.

Kurrilinio, MSU is "Multiple Small Units." It is a play style where you fill the board with a larger number of smaller drops than the larger drops that are so common in 8th edition. I have seen MSU work really well, and would love to get it to work myself, but I am still working on that :-p So for now, I guess I am in the "Hybrid" class

With all the fantics and shooting around here, I have found that I get best results from 6x4 ranked warriors. Leaves me with enough Khorne Halberds to still munch them in combat. The hordes don't leave me with enough units to do much in the way of forcing favorable confrontations.

There is on O&G player running a fanatic heavy night-gobo list, 3 OgreK, 2 empire gun-line oriented, and 2 dwarf gun-line oriented players here locally. Its why you see the blasted standard in my army.......always. Of all of them, I think I am most iritated by the gobos and those effing fanatics. Though the dual cannon ogre list is pretty annoying too.

I would say that i have a hybrid playstyle. I still have about 12 different units plus characters in my regular lists. The msu is mitigated by the fact that one or those units are 280 points of knights and a block of 22 warriors of tzeentch. For me the point of msu is having cheap throwaway units. I think woc usually more fit an mmu description...

I just don't see so much fun to play with MSU alone so I play hybrid :) Usually u see that my include 2 blocks of 21 warriors and some other stuff but it is always funny to do something different

i dont think a true MSU tactic would work.
There are too many big blocks out there and steadfast is a MSU killer.
I would like to know how you guys in general handle bigger opponent blocks beside sending an own big block

Big block terror tactics work well for me.
Recently walked though a high elf MSU army.
8 skullcrushers vs 10 swordmasters is not a fight

I think it is safe to say that I am a proponent of MSU style. :P With that said, I believe that the best builds for WoC are a hybrid.

@Kurrilino-
I actually find MSU as a perfect counter to horde style armies. I get to dictate the terms of engagement through both the deployment and movement phases, can use the “uber” spells to take off a significant number of models, character assassinate, etc. The most glaring weakness to MSU is it is an unforgiving style of play. A mistake can cost you big.

@Teafloy-
Of course 8 Skullcrushers are going to tear up 10 swordmasters (that is why there is a huge point differential between the two units). However, those swordmasters should have sent your skullcrushers off away from the battle (while killing one btw), allowing the rest of his army to outnumber yours and decimate it. If this did not happen, your opponent positioned the SM poorly and not only expended them for no gain, but likely let you run amok into his army.

Totally for the hybrid style. It looks like we invented a new "wave" :)

Hybrid style is how I play. Horde of GW MoK marauders, two smaller blocks of warriors, characters to suit, and rare/special to suit. I've used hordes and MSU before but neither worked how I wanted to with me losing pretty badly both times.

The thing is, the Horde of Khorne Great Weapon Marauders is so efficient you really are missing out if you don't bring it along. That said, I think that bringing more than one of them in a list leaves you open to it getting exploited by a unit that can take it out on its own (and there are several that are up to the task). Thus, I think that designing the rest of the army around countering matchups that beat the Marauder Horde is a good bet, and having that big block in a central position mitigates any potential spacing issues.

I use mainly MSU with minimal characters, usually just 2 both hero level. Putting down a LOAD of MSU units is amusing seeing opponents faces :D. Hakf the time the intimidation value is priceless too :)
