Hi, I noticed that the popularity of the disc lord keeps growing. I started to use him to. Sadly I had to cut my LVL 4 and I now field 1 LVL 2 wizard (lore of death mostly). What do you think of this one: -1 Sorcerer (death magic) + level 2 wizard + dispel scroll + luckstone + charmed shield. With an armour save of 1+ / the first hit and failed armour save can be re-rolled he has some defence... I would like him to have a proper ward save but the problem is that I can only spent 5 more points on him due to the 25% restriction of max heroes. He needs some protection from the army (look out sir and hard cover). Is he usefull you think? Greetz |

I use alot same looking build. I put him on steed so he can move freely and he has survieved 8/10 battles to the end. So yes that build is usable with steed. |

Oke... Thanks for the reply. Otherwise i have to drop the daemonic steed of my bsb for a disc. And give the lvl 2 mot and golden eye of tzeentch (after dropping the shield and icon). But i prefer the daemonic steed with this wizard... Will try it.. Thanks. |

When you run this sorcerer on a steed, is he all on his own, or in a unit? I'm looking for other options on running my sorcerers, and I kind of like this build.. A good boost in survivability, with minimal cost. |

Mine is alone. Usually behind some hill or somewhere else out of way :) Usually my opponents have something else to shoot on so he has been left alone most of the time and when he gets shot, it won't kill him. |

I also use him solo. I also field crushers/lord on disc and trolls so my enemy will have bigger problems. Im planning my next battle soon to try him... Only thing that stops me from doing that is my work :p.... I miss my school days. |

If you plan on bringing a level 2 death caster I wouldn't really recommend planting him off on his own considering the range of the majority of the spells from that lore. The steeds are great for saves, but all it takes is a round of shooting from even regular xbowmen which will be in range before 3/4 of the spells from that lore. Death has 18" and 24" range spells and most armies have shooting that will hit you from 36" away, or hell, even a cannonball will do the trick. The disc is a better solution from quick and flanking movement for spells, but it limits you to Tzeentch. I normally bring my shadow/death casters at level 4, but if I do have a level 2 they're usually nothing more than a scroll caddy. And now that the book of secrets caddy is gone, I actually have to bring a sorcerer! :-/ Edited by Jediknight620, Jan 10 2013, 09:44 PM.

YOU COULD BRING THE MAGIC CARPET!!!!!!! ...no, no couldn't. Maybe I should try a build where my Chaos Lord has the Wizard Hat and My death caster is pulling an Aladin...hmmm...I might do this actually... |

Running a level 2 death in a mass of chaos knights is quite effective. I have had great success either running him alone in the unit or with another character. I have also found running him with a Warshrine and Champion also does the trick. The build i like is Level 2 Lore of Death Chaos Steed Dispel Scroll Sword of Striking Charmed Shield Luckstone I have found him to be pretty survivable, most of the people i play will usually focus attacks on the unit itself instead of singling him out. |

Ur build is illegal as sword of striking is 30p. In our armybook. Otherwise it would have been my build too :) |

how did you deal so far with dispelling from lvl 4 characters ??? I really think about using a lvl 2 to make room for lord on disk. But i am really concerned about getting shut down in dispel round and not being able to dispel the opponents lvl 4. |

I had the same doubts about a lvl2 against enemy lvl 4. But i use a fast army to compensate this. Also i find the disc lord to be badass. Sometimes i still wonder if a lvl 4 isnt better though. |
