Question about the Lore of Metal...; Scaly skin?

Hello

Seeing as we are about to gain access to the lore of metal I started looking over it and came up with a quick question. How does the lore's metalshifting lore attribute work in conjunction with scaly skin saves? Do they count as armor saves for all intents purposes?

What I mean is, say I was using lore of metal on my wife's Treeman, would I wound it on 3+ because it has a 3+ scaly skin save, or would I not be able to wound it at all because scaly skin does not count as having an armor save?

Any thoughts? ^o)

AFAIK - scaly skin provides an armour save. Metal shifting wounds the same as the armour save no mater how you get it.

Yea essentially its like the having heavy armor 5+ armor save, although IRC it does stack with any already existing armor save. I've already been thinking about HW/S warriors with scaly skin. Helloooo 1+ on infantry!

Cheers! That is great news, makes the lore a whole lot more effective. I'm excited to soon having access to the lore of metal.

I am stoked !!!! Lore of Metal has been something I have wanted since the Rulebook came out. Giving a 5+ save to naked marauders is great (or makes light armour on them useful cause it would bump to a 4+) but even more so when making warriors with halberd have a 2+ save.

Plus the spell that turns people to gold and causes stupidity tests is AMAZING against goblin hordes and any lower LD armies ... plus removes roughly 1/3 of a big unit :)

also +1 to hit for Chaos is huge !!! +1 to wound from lore of fire was fairly mediocre in an army with excessive st 5 attacks that wound on 2's a lot as is, however we can only ever hit on 3's at best.... a unit of warriors with halberds against rank and file trrops... hitting on 2's wounding on 2's and with a 2+ AS .... droooooooooooools

Best of all, we can mark our sorcerer with the blessings of Tzeentch and still take Metal!

Plus, signature spell is lovely for taking down heavily armored foes!

The sig will definitely help whiping out opponent heavily armored units before we even run into them.

One issue I foresee... Playing against other warriors. That 2+ save all of a sudden starts to look pretty damn unpleasant when you're both packing Metal.

That's what our sig will help with :) D6 (or 2D6) hits wounding on a 2+ will do awesome :)

I think that is what he was saying. WoC with Metal VS. WoC with Metal will be nasty.

Do scaly skin stack?
SS does stack with armour.

e.g. SS (5+) and heavy armour (5+) gives a 3+ AS

But do scaly skin stack with scaly skin?
the metal spell gives the unit a 'SS 5+'. I could be wrong but I would say it replaces and SS save it already has not stacks.

Basically you cant have the same special rule, scaly skin, twice.
