I think there are a few things we can do to protect our Daemon Prince from shooting...

-use terrain to block line of sight
-charmed shield to negate that first cannonball
-take out artillery with chimeras or said daemon prince (with all the speed we have access to, enemy artillery shouldn't be around too long)
-get into combat as quickly as possible for shooting protection
-regain wounds using the soul feeder? gift
-use an obstacle to block a cannonball (large targets don't get hit modifiers for obstacles, but the obstacle will still stop a cannonball in its track)
-use trolls or warshrines to block the cannonball

The book states that "A model with the mark of tzeentch gets a 6+ ward save, but if they already have one then it is improved by one, to a maximum of 3+.

Unless it's in parts of the book I haven't seen.
If a DP has the Mark of Tzeench he gets the improved save.

It has different descriptions for each mark for the DP, so only those effects apply not the standard.
Does it specifically state that he doesn't get the +1 to ward bonus?
Because otherwise it just looks like fluff, same with the forsaken.
Not trying to start an argument here, Just want clarification.

Hmmm, well since I already have the model, I might try a Nurgle DP caster. Get him to combat asap, use magic to improve his survivabilty in comabt along with his mark and armour. Nurgle Knights along side would go well too, but I'm liking the suggestion of running him behind trolls. He can see and fly over them, hard cover, good luck cannon ball getting past them, have to be very lucky.

The Daemon Prince entry states (translated from German):

Daemon of Tzeentch: A Daemon of Tzeentch has the special rule Hatred (Daemons of Nurgle) and may reroll failed ward saves of 1. If the Daemon is a Sorcerer he may also reroll dice roles of 1 when Channeling.

On topic: I will try the following build these days:
Daemon Prince of Nurgle (Level 3; Lore of Nurgle) with Chaos Armour, Flaming Breath, Scaled Skin, Soul Feeder, Chaos Familiar, Sword of Striking and Charmed Shield

I will most likely run him without magic levels in the future but I wanted to try out some things and using a casting DP frees up some points to use for other stuff. :)

So, with the demon prince getting a point reduction and access to armor (2+ rerolling armor save is a possibility, or get the charmed shield for cannon save), how would he fare as a delivery system for death magic? He still is pretty vulnerable to cannons, but he can eat up a lot of units behind enemy lines and cast out of combat. On the other hand, a chimer or two might just do the same thing, only safer for the same cost

Yeah, they would indeed be quite deadly, but our monsters are also fast, we have magic to weaken them and would destroy them in CC.

Twin Hellcannons are pretty good at dealing with Terrors and simply keep your DP out of range of them.

Daemon Princes can't take the mark of any power. They only get "Daemon of". It's not fluff.
