As the title states, how are you thinking of equipping the chaos lord? My first ideas, fom reading the rules once, are Chaos lord Mark of slaanesh (everyone I have is slaanesh or unmarked wizard) Hellfire sword Enchanted shield Talisman of endurance Flaming breath Soul feeder Manticore Iron hard skin 530pts of fun Soul feeder off sets the hellfire sword. If challenged by a champion The Lord should get the maximum 7 combat res and hold. 1 for charging 1 for killing the champion Hellfire sword should ensure the maximum plus 5 for over kill Then the champion might even explode given another 0 to 6 combat res Outside of a challenge you have 5 S5 ignore armour attacks 4+D6 S5 attacks fom the manticore 2D6 S4 flaming attacks (once per game) 0-5D6 S4 flaming attacks from exploding enemies Slightly cheaper Chaos lord Mark of slaanesh Pendant of slaanesh Sword of strife/ogre blade Enchanted shield Soul feeder Flaming breath 335pts The half baked plan here is that the lord is just survivable nough to live and gain attacks. With the increased strength of the orge blade ensuring wounds, or h sword of strife using buckets of dice, our feeder should regain the wounds lost. So what are you planning? |

You have 2 pieces of magic armour, you can't do that. 1) MoT, Scaled Skin, Soul Feeder, Third Eye, great weapon, disc, talisman of preservation, crown of command, charmed shield - 383 Has a 1+ armour and a 3+ ward save re-rolling 1's and ignores the 1st hit on a 2+ for defence, and he's stubborn on Ld 9. And he can fly, so essentially just pick an enemy unit that isn't getting to do anything today and send him in. Alternatively, swap the shield + disc for the dragonhelm if you'd rather have him hold your battle line together from inside a unit. 2) MoK, juggernaut, Flaming Breath, Soul Feeder, Hellfire Sword, Helm of Many Eyes - 405 Kills things dead. Especially likes anything Monstrous (particularly those annoying Monstrous Cavalry with their good armour saves). 3) MoS, extra hand weapon, Flaming Breath, Soul Feeder, Helm of Many Eyes, Pendant of Slaanesh - 336 Maybe not the best thing ever, but it sounds fun. The idea is to take wounds in order to gain attacks, and then regain wounds with Soul Feeder; repeating until he hits 10 attacks. Would have been better if he could have the Daemon Blade for random attacks (random attacks are the only way to exceed 10 attacks, and every time he stabbed himself he'd have gained another attack) but then he wouldn't be able to take Soul Feeder. 4) MoN, barded daemonic mount, shield, Scaled Skin, Soul Feeder, biting blade, glittering scales, dawnstone, crown of command - 400 Similar to the 1st build, just does it in a different way. For defence, he's got a 1+ re-rollable armour save, and all close combat attacks against him are at -2 to hit. Still throws out 5 S5 AP attacks, 2 S5 attacks and a S5 stomp. |

Just cant see taking a lord other than a DP or Scorcerer. Even then my DP, if I take one, is going to be lvl 4 wizard. |

Mine is pretty close to Leth's first one Lord, MoT, Disc, Shield, Dragonhelm, ToP, CoC, Biting Blade, Third Eye. You can put that guy into any unit and expect it to hold up. with the disc pumping out 3 magic attacks, I am even coming around to droping the biting blade for a GW. Soul feeder is a nice option if I have the points. This guy (or variations of him) is so good, I would happily drop the Sorc Lord. When I want to bring the beat stick, he is the first option. However, I do want to model up a nice DP, so will be playing around with some of those builds. Hinge |

Chaos Lord: Mark of Tzeentch Flaming Breath Soul Feeder third Eye Shield Disc of Tzeentch Talisman of Preservation Helm of Many Eyes (HoME) Sword of Anti-Heroes Total: 405 pts I used a similar build in the old book with Bloodcurdling roar and Stream of Corruption on a Barded Steed (HoME didn't give +1 to armor save), and it was amazing, and this one should be even better, with the ability to recover wounds and reroll 1s to ward save. Just charge it into a combat with lots of enemy characters and laugh as you cause untold carnage. The new Warshrines will be great for Chaos Lord armies. Edited by Asamu, Feb 3 2013, 12:53 PM.

Chaos Lord Mark of Khorne Juggernaut Hellfire Sword Helm of Many Eyes Dragonbane Gem Flaming Breath Poisonous Slime Soul Feeder Surprised to have seen no one partner Hellfire Sword w/ Dragonhelm or Dragonbane Gem for that delicious 2+ ward against your own flaming attacks, unless I'm missing something and that doesn't work? Regardless, I'd like to think of the build as straight killy with only a 1+ save against anything not flaming, but a 2+ ward against anything that is. Edited by Buttlerthepug, Feb 3 2013, 02:51 PM.

That would be awesome. But on reading the entry for the sword it only states close combat attacks have the flaming attacks and multiple wounds special rule(1st sentence). And seeing u roll at the end of each of your turns to see if u get effected by the sword, and not necessarily in combat it reads like that combo wont work which is a shame. |

Best you can do is get the Talisman of endurance with MoT and Third eye which gives you a 4+ ward and you can re-roll ones. But tbh if you run soul then you will dealing so many wounds you won't be getting killed by rank and file troops even elites. The key is getting into comnat asap! |
