A Skaven Player has issued a challenge at my local Games Workshop store this Thursday evening. I've played him before and so have a fairly good idea what I will be facing. Mainly BUTT loads of Clanrats w. Mortars or WFT's, a Doomwheel, At least 1 Hellpit, a WLC and more than likely a Grayseer and an Engineer or two. So here's my list to take him on.

Daemon Prince
MoN
Level 4 Nurgle
Chaos Armour
Flight
Chaos Familiar
Scaled Skin
Soul Feeder
Sword of Striking
Charmed Shield
Dragonbane Gem
525

Kayzk the Befouled

Exalted Hero
BSB
Enchanted Shield
Talisman of Endurance
Ironcurse Icon
185

17 Warriors
Full Com
Banner of the Eternal Flame
MoN
Shields & Halberds
380

18 Warriors
Full Com
MoN
AHW
354

5 Rot Knights (Knights + Kayzk Upgrade)
Full Com
MoN
Ensorcelled Weapons
330

1 Chimera
Flaming Breath
Regen
275

Gorebeast Chariot
MoN
140

1 Spawn
MoN
60

1 Spawn
MoN
60

TOTAL - 2499

The plan is to use the DP to hunt down WM's, Doomwheel's and them chew his way through Clanrats. Kayzk + Rot Knights and Gorebeast Chariot and Chimera will support the Warriors in grinding down the mass of Clanrats. Flaming Halberd Warriors will make a B-Line for Hellpits and Spawns will be used as speed bumps and will support when/where possible.

I am considering dropping a Spawn in favor of 2x 5 Warhounds but I'm not sure it will be needed. Also I'd like to take a 2nd Gorebeast Chariot but at the moment I don't have one and I've yet to try out the Rot Knights so hopefully they will do well and be a good fun unit to hammer some pesky rats into the dust, especially with 2 S5 Attacks and 2S4 attacks each plus a stomp, 2+AS and 5+ regen. What do you think?

The list looks sound, maybe drop the champ on the rot knights so Kayzk gets a look out sir roll. I think the spawn for warhound swap is sound as it will allow you to get more dummy drops. Deployment will be important for your overall strategy and the more drops you have the more likely you will get the match ups you seek.

Thanks for the tips propervillanz, I was considering dropping the Rot Knight champ which would give me an extra 10 points to spend on toys for the characters or even a banner on the unit. I think I'll go ahead and do that. Additionally I think the extra drops will help out so I'll ditch a spawn for the war pups. I'm almost positive the Skaven player will be able to out deploy me so I can place my harder hitting units in places they can get to their intended targets a tad easier.

Edit - I've dropped the Rot Knight's champ from my list and given the unit the Gleaming Pennant. I also gave the BSB the Warrior Bane weapon as I had 5 points to spend and couldn't really put them anywhere else. Seeing as he has to declare challenges I figure this will help his survivability in the event a character gives him any grief (that is of course if the Skaven even accept the challenge.... pesky rats!). I took this over the Tormentor Sword as Skaven's rank bonuses will more than likely give his chars a Ld 10 most of the time.

Well.... the list was a complete and total success. I tabled the guy on turn 5 without giving up any VP's! Even my warhound units survived! :D

Awesome, glad to hear those vermin get put in their place. How did the Rot Knights perform, i have always thought of taking those guys.

Kurrilino - Rot Knights gain stomp because the 15 point upgrade option Kayzk the Befouled unlocks for Knights of Nurgle. It upgrades the Chaos Steeds into Rot Beasts which are Monstrous. They become Monstrous Cav and gain stomps +1 W and Regen 5+ :D

propervillanz - The Rot Knights trashed everything and anything in their way. They got hit once or twice by Mortars but thanks to the 5+ regen and 2 wounds it never killed a model. At the end of the game only 1 knight had died and the rest of the unit including Kayzk were unscathed. Kayzk even got himself a +1 BS from EotG for killing a Warchief lol

Possible BR? It would be very awesome to read how Nurgle squashed the silly ratmen! Congrats on the win! You have a very sound list as well.

Thanks Tchar'zhul. Unfortunately we went to the pub afterwards and had a few so I can't remember the in's and out's of the battle now but it was completely one sided. Next time I'll remember to take notes so I can post a battle rep.

Certainly apical

Kayzk the Befouled is a Special Character who's rules can be found in the Forge World book "Tamurkhan : The Throne of Chaos" which is an official suppliment for Warhammer. It contains additional rules for Warriors of Chaos, The Empire and Chaos Dwarves as well as Host rules for using all 3 forces of Chaos in one army and a nifty looking campaign based around Tamurkhan and his rise to power. Kayzk serves as Tamurkhan's Lieutenant and is the leader of the Rot Knights, a special group of Nurgle Knights who ride Rot Beasts.

Kayzk is pretty cool in that he has Chaos Armour, Lance, Hand Weapon, Shield and many other cool rules such as the usual Mark of Nurgle, Eye of the Gods, Poisoned Attacks, Corrupted Flesh (-1 to wound against him, cannons wound on a 3+!!) and his statline is on par with a Chaos Lord. He is also incredibly cheap for his points being around the same cost as Throgg or Festus.

Kayzk and many other models from the book can be found found on Forge World's website. (See the link below)

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/KAZYK-THE-BEFOULED-ON-ROT-BEAST.html

As for the Rot Knights, they are an upgrade option Kayzk unlocks by including him in your army. In order to take Rot Knights you must have Kayzk in your army AND Chaos Knights with the Mark of Nurgle. Once these criteria have been fulfilled the Knights can pay an additional 15 Points per model to upgrade their Chaos Steeds into Rot Beasts like Kayzk so they become Monstrous Cavalry (and gain the usual benefits such as stomps and immunity to killing blow), gain an additional wound and 5+ Regen as well as the normal 2+ armour save and lance/ensorcelled weapons and cause fear etc.

Models for the Rot Knights don't exist but there have been a number of cool conversions done. Some people mount Chaos Knights of Forge World Plague Toads which looks really cool. I went for the lazy option and bought Daemons of Chaos Plague Drones and gave them Marauder shields. Seeing as Kazyk is little more than a rotting bag of pus and pestilence I figured his Rot Knights should have a similar appearance.

awesome! thanks for letting me know

I often wondered why chaos dwarfs were still available from forgeworld...

The models are fantastic (priced likewise, but seem relatively worth it),I'll have to see if my local gaming club plays these expansion rules
