Hey guys, So I was tinkering around with Chaos Lords today, and I came up with this character-stifling beauty: Chaos Lord - Barded Chaos Steed - Dawnstone - Flaming Breath - Glittering Scales - Mark of Nurgle - Scaled Skin - Shield - Sword of Anti-Heroes - The Other Trickster's Shard What's notable here is that despite swapping out Chaos Armor for the Glittering Scales, we still get back to a 1+ save (and give it re-rolls to boot). Anything WS8(!) or less hits him on a 6, which is pretty crazy. I've already run the numbers, and he out-grinds both the Chuck Norris Vampire Lord and holds his own against the mighty Nurgle Daemon Prince. My math has a Vampire Lord with a 1+/4++ save combo and the Quickblood + Red Fury + Sword of Anti-Heroes kit going down to it in 3 rounds while only taking a single wound in return, and the Daemon Prince fight is a 7-round slugfest that is slightly in the Prince's favor. Given that you can bunker this guy in a unit of Nurgle Knights and give them something useful like the Razor Banner (which takes the Chaos Lord from being slightly disfavored to win that Prince fight in 7 rounds to a comfortable favorite in 5), and all of a sudden that unit looks pretty scary. Any thoughts on that? Edited by rothgar13, Apr 19 2013, 01:49 PM.

In stead of flaming breath, what about soul feeder? Healing up is nice. |

Flaming Breath has a greater impact on challenges than Soul Feeder, or than Soul Feeder + Nurgle's Rot. Thunderstomps are what make it great on a DP. |

I like it. Some fighting power with sword of anti heroes and very hard to kill with rerolling armor saves. With a unit of knights I think he would work well. |

change barded steed to doemon mount and run him solo. +1W and +1T will make him even better. Plus he can't be killing blowed |

He can be Killing Blowed because he is an Infantry model, regardless of what he is mounted on. |

And the wound and toughness won't effect a Chaos Lord. Plus no ward save he'd die the first turn to a cannonball being on his own. |

Every opponent with a Cannon and/or a Stone thrower just thanked you for giving them 500 free VP... Also, as noted earlier: He doesn't gain +1W and +1T from the Daemonic Mount because he already has T5 W3. |

I thought that if you mount him on a Monstrous beast it makes the whole model monstrous cavalry so he couldn't be KBd. Am I incorrect in this? |

@Minsc: Yep, KB is pretty much the only thing he's afraid of. That said, just about everything that has it hits on a 6, so I'm hoping that will be enough to keep him safe. @etherdude: This guy isn't a blocker, he's a killer. He wins challenges against tough enemies and frees the rest of your army to take on the rest of his. You basically use him for the polar opposite of MSU - the army that I think makes the best use of him is a Nurgle Knight Deathstar. @Kurrilino: That's an awful idea, frankly - keeping him in a unit of Knights give him a Look Out, Sir! roll, which is all that stands between him and an artillery shot to the face. Also, as noted by others, the Chaos Lord is already T5 and W3; the Daemonic Mount does nothing. Edited by rothgar13, Apr 20 2013, 08:15 AM.
