Anyone ever try running something like this: 3000pts Lord, MoT, Steed, Ogre Blade, Talis of Pres, OTT, Flaming Breath, Soul Feeder , Third Eye , Shield (str7, 1+/3++ reroll 1s, enemies reroll wards, Main Challanger.) Sorc lord, MoT, Lvl 4, Steed, Charmed Shield, Iron Curse Icon, Luckstone, Chaos Familiar (5 tzeentch spells, 6+ warmachine ward for unit) Exalted, MoT, Steed, Warrior Bane, Obsidian Lodestone, Shield (MR3 for unit) Exalted, MoT, Steed, BSB, Obsidian Blade, Poisonous Slime, Shield (BSB, Ignores Armor, poison attacks) Sorc, MoT, lvl 2, Disc, Enchanted Shield, Opal Amulet, Dispel Scroll (Solo flyer, lore of metal, tough to kill with 3++ first wound.) 24 Forsaken, MoS 2 x 5 Horsemen, MoS, Mus, Jav, Shield 2 x 5 Hounds, Vanguard 14x Knights, MoT, FC, lances, Blasted Standard (reduce range str, 6str on charge) Warshrine, MoT (3++ anvil, and can buff the several heros in the knightstar) Basically the list has some annoying dogs and javelin cav to distract and annoy while the knightstar sets up to kill the most dangerous target. The knights run 6x3 with the command and the 3 killy things in the front, and the lvl 4 in the second row. The unit itself is 5++ vs warmachines 3++ vs spells, and 5/6 range attacks do half damage. So there is a pretty good chance it will make it to combat considering it has a 1+/6++ save as well. Ive still got 19 points to spare for some more stuff as well. Obviously it lacks some ASF stuff in the unit and its still not as powerful as a vampire one, and you cant revive the rank and file. But i feel like it might even be more durable with all the defensive things you can add to it. Suggestions/Comments; thanks. Edited by RabbitsOfDoom, May 26 2013, 03:00 PM.

so this is a MoT themed list right? My problem ic is u only hav 2 combat units. Yes u hav a big block of knights that will b hard 2 remove, also would put ur sorcerer lord on a disc with armour of destiny for a 3+ward he isn't gr8 on a steed since u need 2b able 2 fly over n get positioned right for spells |

Hmmm... well, for the most part it looks interesting. The first glaring problem I see is your fortitude is 4. Which means in the banner scenerio your going to lose at deployment. I dont know if your a tournament player or just looking to have fun with buddies but thats will come back to bite you if you encounter that scenerio. Next, this list is atrociously "Eggs in one basket". Your banking, 100%, on your knight bus to win the games for you. A Lore of Metal wizard is going to eat your face with a couple "Kamakazie Casts" (Throwing max Power dice at a spell trying to IR it thru) and what do you have left if they fall? Forsaken? They're a support unit and one roll of a 1 on their combat chart and your opponent is going to get all his attacks before you get a chance to do anything but pick up models. Also, the Marauder Horsemen are wasted points. Dogs do the same thing, much more efficently, and for much cheaper. Yea, the Horsemen get to throw spears at the enemy.... but honestly who cares? When was the last time a Marauders shooting attack really turned the battle? Use dogs to redirect, dump the Horsemen, and maybe add a chariot or two to support the Forsaken and Knight's charges. Don't get me wrong, I see what your trying to do here but, imo, you're going to have to play this list VERY intelligently, with almost ZERO room for error, in order to see consistant victory... I mean, one unit of trolls Puking on your knights and its all over. :( (There are alot of armies in my area that have troll units of 6+. If your area is blissfully "Troll free" then disreguard) Hope this helps! :D |

not necessarily a tzeentch theme it just made sense. Suppose i could drop the marks on the heros and caster to save points. I originally dropped the familiar, and had the sorc lord with crown of command and charmed shield in the second row. But i figured that i didnt really need stubborn. Most of my lord points are in the killy lord so i dont really have the points to spare to send him out on a disc with a good ward save. they'd be fairly resistant against metal with mr3 and mark of tzeentch. Definately an all your eggs in one basket lol, something like 1800 points in one unit. Edited by RabbitsOfDoom, May 26 2013, 03:08 PM.

It is a very interesting list. I do have a few issues with it. The first one is indeed fortitude. 4 for a 3K game isn't hard to beat, especially with all the points in one spot. You have made it just about as resistant as it can get, but the blasted standard will just as easily ruin your day. A single roll of a 1 and something like HE archers or something related (or better) will gladly rip apart that one block. They have some awesome survivability, but the reason VC excel in the cavalry bus is because they can easily regrow the models, even in CC. We do have a large advantage will ward saves, but in CC, we only have a 6++. A combo charge in the front and flank (which, against a cavalry bus it isn't hard to pull off), and it will be ripped up quite quick, and you can't bring these guys back. |
