Hi all, I've played a decent amount of games with my WoC list. I usually run Trolls but also Warriors of Nurgle. They do decent (not spectacular), but I'm not sure how much better they do compared to just taking more trolls. Thought I'd find out. Here is the list. 2500 Pts - Warriors of Chaos Roster Daemon Prince of Nurgle, 555 pts (General) . . Mark of Nurgle . . Magic Level 4 . . Chaos Armor . . Daemonic Flight . . Sword of Striking . . Charmed Shield . . Dragonbane Gem . . Flaming Breath . . Scaled Skin (Scaly Skin) . . Soul Feeder . . Chaos Familiar . . The Lore of Death Exalted Hero of Tzeentch (Battle Standard Bearer), 270 pts . . Daemonic Mount with Barding . . Mark of Tzeentch . . Flail . . Talisman of Preservation . . Potion of Foolhardiness . . Burning Body (Flaming Attacks) . . Third Eye of Tzeentch The Troll King Throgg, 195 pts Core 5 Chaos Warhounds, 40 pts (Vanguard) 5 Chaos Warhounds, 40 pts (Vanguard) 5 Chaos Warhounds, 40 pts (Vanguard) 7 Chaos Trolls, 245 pts 8 Chaos Trolls, 280 pts Special Chimera, 275 pts (Flaming Breath; Regenerating Flesh) Gorebeast Chariot of Nurgle, 140 pts Rare Hellcannon, 210 pts Hellcannon, 210 pts Total Roster Cost: 2500 So, two units of trolls. Throgg goes with the unit of 7. Formation for both is 4x2. Should hit pretty hard at whatever they point at. Tzeentch BSB travels around between the units and adds combat power where needed, and helps ensure they stay on track. If the other troll unit gets too far afield he can join it to give it his leadership, though between Throgg and the General I don't anticipate that happening much. Daemon Prince can deploy behind trolls for cannon protection until flying out to wreck havoc. Will generally be paired with Chimera so they can fly around and pound on things. Gorebeast Chariot can add combat power where needed. Would have liked two but ran out of points. I haven't run Hellcannons yet, but wanted to try them. For me, I figure you should run two for redundancy or run none at all. I will be running Lore of Death and with 5 spells, I should always get Doom and Darkness. Against most armies that aren't ITP, this makes Doom and Darkness a MUST dispel spell to prevent panic tests. This is nice so that you can force through the snipes, soul blight, or a purple sun. But I haven't tried them yet so I am unsure. Oh yeah, and dogs do their thing and get in the way. Only thing I'm missing that I can see is a dispel scroll, but I'd like to hear peoples thoughts. Thanks. |

I was thinking about dropping the Gorebeast Chariot and adding one more rank of trolls (4) to the Throgg unit to create a 4x3 formation. 4 trolls is exactly the cost of the chariot. Would make this unit pretty resilient to most anything. Since the Gorebeast is slow and the rest of the list is fast, I figured it might get left behind. However, I'd lose a drop, and even running behind the Gorebeast isn't too bad. It can protect against something coming around to try to flank me, and still add to the later combats quite a bit. Thoughts? |

Usually the first thing I look at a list, reading below you beat me to it, so... a) Find room for the dispell scroll. 25 points in a 2500 point list, is a 1% cost. But it can damage you more than 15-20% (and at times cost you the entire game). :-/ b) As far as the trolls, Throgg must be protected at all costs, you lose him and you lose the battle. -_- c) Either the Hellcannons go in twins, or they stay at home. +1 with you there. If you however change your mind, I'd be placing warshrines instead. When you choose trolls, then you need to get there fast and choke them. The added fire-power from the Cannons help out, but I prefer seeing my army as Hell approaching while they try to stop me, myself getting hammered in the attempt, but once I manage to get there.... *evil laugh*... B) PS. I've stopped using the 2 Hellcannons after my experience with Dwarfs. He starts first (usually they do), has an Anvil, 2 Cannons and 2 GTs (catapults). End of turn 1, my turn, I don't get a shooting phase... :'( EDIT: Not fond of Chariots, wouldn't give you any good advice I'm afraid... Edited by ToughOne, May 30 2013, 06:40 PM.

I know, I really want a dispel scroll. I've run lists without one, and been successful, but have always missed it. The problem is that, as this list is set up, a dispel scroll isn't only 25 points or a 1% cost. It is far more than that. I don't have another wizard, so I'd need to add in that cost (110 points). Also, as I don't have any infantry, he would be extremely vulnerable. At best, because of the cost of a scroll, he could have a 5++ (6++ talisman plus MoT), and he would be by himself. Hiding behind trolls will protect him a little bit due to TLOS, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk/cost just to get the scroll. All in, it would cost 170 points (level 1, MoT, Enchanted Shield, Talisman). That's a lot harder to find room for than 25 points. Thanks for the thoughts. I haven't actually had much experience with Hellcannons. I have used trolls and throgg before though and found them to work out well. |

My list is very very similar. I have 9 trolls and 5. 2 chimeras and only 1 Hellcanon instead if Gorebeast. I also tossed in the point friendly Scyla for leadership 10 on those stupidity tests and to help Throgg with a few bonus point for the Wintertooth Crown as well. List is very fast for sure. I don't miss the scroll as much as I thought. Just have to get used to taking some of the smaller missle type spell and save the dice for the biggies. I don't really tailor my list for opponents so I am sure I will miss the scroll when a purple sun player rolls around, could kill almost my whole army. I have mostly played the new high Elves with the list so far . I have been in all the games and only won one of the four I played. Problem has been those sisters' and their flaming arrows. But those trolls ain't afraid of that dragon banner for sure! Chimeras x2 and the Daemon prince can really cut a hoard down to size with breath weapons. All in all I have enjoyed the list a lot, even though I am still learning new strategies with all these monsters to play around with Edited by NurglePox, Jun 2 2013, 06:39 AM.
