Hey there, Servants of the Dark Gods! I gonna play soon against a Skaven Army (2000 pts.). The thing i know is: He is gonna try his Plague Furnace. As far as i know he needs to get very close with it to deal the damage so here is my list i came up with: *************** 1 Lord *************** Chaos Sorcerer Lord, General, Level 4 Upgrade, Mark of Slaanesh + Lore of Slaanesh + Chaos Familiar + Sword of Battle, Potion of Strength, Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted Shield - - - > 390 Points *************** 2 Heroes *************** Chaos Sorcerer + Lore of Fire + Dispell Scroll - - - > 135 Points Exalted Hero, Mark of Tzeentch, Halberd, Shield + Burning Body, Third Eye of Tzeentch + Armour of Destiny + Battlestandard Bearer - - - > 224 Points *************** 2 Core Units *************** 20 Chaos Warriors, Mark of Slaanesh, Shields, Musician, Standardbearer, Champion + Banner of Swiftness - - - > 365 Points 20 Chaos Warriors, Mark of Tzeentch, Shields, Halberds, Musician, Standardbearer, Champion + Blasted Standard - - - > 455 Points *************** 1 Special Unit *************** 3 Dragon Ogres, Great Weapons, Champion - - - > 214 Points *************** 1 Rare Unit *************** Hellcannon - - - > 210 Points Total Points Warriors of Chaos : 1993 The tactic i have in Mind: The Slaanesh sorcerer will try to cast his spells on the Monks who push the furnace. The goal is to give the Furnace and Crew the "random movement d6" rule every round. So it will move about 3" in average. While it's slowed i try to get as much damage on it's crew and try to reduce it to under 10 or even under 5 (it can't move anymore if it has 5 or less crew pushing right?). This should be easy with hellcanon and sorcerer lord i think. Further i have some Dragon Ogers to hunt down his warmachines. The level 1 scorcerer is just there so i can have 1 dispell scroll and maybe throw a fireball every once in while. And once the Furnace is down and out the 2 Chaos warrior blocks should be able to deal with the rest i think. What do you think about this list and tactic? Any advice or suggestion? Well, having played quite a few games with skaven myself, I'll confirm that the Furnace must get in CC in order to deal damage. It being unbreakable also doesn't help much, and if he's smart enough to use something like 50 monks with it, you'll have an issue. The Plague Banner (one use only, re-roll to hit AND to wound) will probably be in the unit, costs 30 points and he'll be saving them from the 50 point Storm-banner since you'll not be bringing any serious artillery. Good thing is that opposed to the Grey Seer on the Bell who can climb up higher and refuse challenges, the Plague Priest riding the Furnace cannot. Take him out. Your army is good, only one thing. He may also bring along a HPA (Hell Pit Abomination) which is simply too good for its' points. It has 4+ regen, so you might think of bringing eternal flame somewhere to deal with it. As for the artillery, he'll probably have a Catapult + a couple of mortars (65 points each) sit back and enjoy his firing superiority. These may hurt you. Finally, for the high T Hellcannon, he'll probably pop up 7-9 gutter runners to take it out. These guys have BS4, 2 attacks (slings) each and -above all- poison. If he rolls well, you'll be crying 200+ points goodbye and have a thorn stuck in your back... (Hope I helped) |

How do the gutter runners get to the hellcannon? Do they have a special rule to enter the battlefield from a different side? |
