ok.. don't know whats wrong with me today.... must be the work i am right now.

Helm and scales will not work out.
as well as dragon gem and talisman will not, same spot also

so it would be
demonic mount, barding, great weapon, dragon helm
talisman, scaly skin, soul feeder, reroll one's

If wanted burning body for flaming attacks.
but i try to stay away from flaming attacks for challinging reasons.
Other heroes and lords will always have the gem or the helm.

Not bad, but I just have to ask, why the Daemonic Mount for a Chaos Lord? He already has T5, and 3 wounds. You'd be better off putting him on a Chaos Steed if you want him mounted. He'll be a lot cheaper that way.

Also, since you're keeping the Chaos armor in this build, there's no reason to have Scaly Skin. With a barded mount of some kind you'd have a 1+ armor.
I think the steed can be killing blowed and the Demonic mount can't
This was the idea of mount vs steed. Stomp will also help in a challenge.

The point of scaly skin is to leave the barding of to get another 1" movent
and keep the 1+ armor save without any shield because he would use a great weapon.

Okay then, that makes sense. Not being KB'd is always good.

+2 strength + ASF would be the most damaging option in most cases.

Would you be against putting the lord on a chariot? I'd potentially look at:

Chaos Lord - MoT, Shield, Ogre Blade, Helm of many Eyes, Talisman of Endurance, IronCurse Icon, Gorebeast Chariot of Tzeentch, Flame Breath, Soul Feeder.

1+ save, 4+ ward, 5+ ward against warmachines for the chariot (6+ against everything else), and 5 S7 attacks with ASF, a flame Breath and the chariots attacks and impact hits for offense.

i forgot to mention that there are lot's of T lowering items and spells
especially on challenging characters out there.

Having a demonic mount makes you imune against it since it loweres the characters Toughness

Hi all. Thanks for some of the responses, I'll just clarify a couple of things I was asked
He is mounted and goes with a unit of knights, I just occasionally solo charge him at smaller, elite units that can hurt a knight unit but suffer with massively reduced attacks against a single guy.
I want to avoid the 3+ save for 3 reasons. One I want it on my bsb, 2 I dislike it as an armour choice and 3 I'm interested in a much more offensive build, so really going to town in that department.
Once again, helfire sword is an utter waste, elves will batter me with it and orks have very little armour to ignore!
I'm not a fan of the helm of many eyes, with him moving out of bsb range its just such a risk...have you guys had good experiences with it?
I may reevaluate the build a bit though, there really isn't that many good expensive weapons, even gimik ones, that arnt flaming!

well most of these weapons will cost 50 points or above.
Sicne the BSB just has 50 points to spend the choices getting slim.

Maybe the always strike 1st one would be good.
Always nice to have rerolls to hit
or go directly with the -1 to hit sword.

These are the cheap most usefull that come to my mind

He's not counted as two models, he's counted as one, so no, that's not true. The only case I can think of where that's true would be Van Horstman's Speculum. If he's hit by Curse of the Leper (as a hex) The Withering, or Soulblight, the mount's toughness will be lowered alongside his.
