I have a great idea in the works (model wise) for a Nurgle BSB on a Daemonic Mount for my Throgg based Monster list. My issue is I am not sure how to equip him. I like the mechanics behind the Tzeentch BSB with the 3+ ward, third eye, etc. BUT I really want to model and paint this Nurgle themed one. That being said, please help me kit this guy out! Many thanks.

hmm.. nurgle BSB on mount is difficult.
Actually you don't want him in combat because he have to accept a challenge.

i give it a try

Demonic mount, barded, glittering scales, scaly skin, dragon gem, shield, halbert, bsb

would make:

-2 to hit
5 toughness
3 wounds
1+ armor
4 St5 attacks
2+ wardsave against flame attacks

i know there is no real wardsave beside fire but a -2 to hit should do the trick in close combat.
He would be perfect against these HE Fire Phoenix or single units

looks kinda ok for me.....

someone a better idea?

The problem with a Nurgle BSB on Daemonic Mount is that you can't hide him. He'll be a prime target for cannon balls.

This pretty much limits him to one option, in my opinion. Talisman of Preservation and Charmed Shield. Gives him 1+/4++, and ignores first hit.

You can also give him burning body, and he can be a mobile platform to remove regen from stuff. Since he has high initiative, you'll strike before your other troops to remove regen at the start of combat.

Having been a pure Nurglist since the end of 7th I can say this is not strictly true. For those of us that own the Tamurkhan : The Throne of Chaos book will probably realize that you can indeed hide a Nurgle BSB on Daemonic Mount.

By taking the Forge World Character Kayzk the Befouled in your army for a bargin in points he allows Knights of Nurgle to upgrade their Chaos Steeds to Rotbeasts for a fairly low price which are the same mount as Kayzk himself. This then not only grants them 5+ Regen on top of a 2+ Armour Save but makes them Monstrous Cavalry. This unit is the only real option you have for hiding a Nurgle BSB however.

I bought Kayzk but found there aren't Rot Knight models so I used the Plague Drone models with minor conversions to create a 5 man unit of "Rot Knights" with Kayzk. In total the Rot Knights with a Full Command, Mark of Nurgle and a Ensorcelled Weapons come in at 330 points which is pretty good as the riders at the back get their 2 S5 attacks for being monstrous as well as stomps from the front rank. They are basically Nurgle Skull Crushers with less damage output but more defense and a single Rot Knight fully upgraded comes in at a full 15 points cheaper than your basic Skullcrusher with no upgrades.

If you were to go down this road then I would keep him cheap and cheerful. Exalted Hero, BSB, MoN, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, Daemonic Mount. This guy can happily hide with Kayzk and the Rot Knights so Look out Sir! is possible, plus the added protection of Kayzk himself in Challenges and a 1+/4++, you could also toy him out with gifts if you wanted but I don't think it's needed.

I would very much like to see these rot knight models you speak of... Thought bout this ages ago, but hadn't considered putting a BSB in there.

I've been running the BSB Kurrilino has written, but had the charmed shield in there instead of glittering scales. So far he's only died once.. To a war mammoths 4D6 thundestomps at S10, so I'm pretty confident in him. Yeah he'll die to a cannon, but if I'm that concerned I'll stick him behind some monstrous infantry such as trolls until I can get him into a combat I know he'll be okay in.

You can put the BSB in a unit to absorb basic shooting attacks, so I think the biggest fear survivability-wise is cannons. With this in mind, you could consider:

Exalted - BSB, Barded Daemonic Steed, MoN, Charmed Shield, Opal Amulet

This gives you T5, W3, a 1+ save, -1 to hit in CC, a 2+ charmed shield save, and a 1 use 4+ ward. The benefit of this is you still have your gifts and 30pts of items to add some flavourful toys to his kit if your not a fan of going 100% defensive with your items.

This build isn't as purely tanky as the Talisman of Preservation/ Charmed Shield combo, but it is as good against the first couple of cannonballs and with Monstrous cavalry now granting immunity to KB a wardsave isn't as essential once you reach combat.

Lol. Out of context I can see that was all a bit disorienting, I was gonna be an ass and say 'Haven't you got the new white dwarf supplement? We also get terrorgheists' ;) haha

They are special rules / characters from the tamurkhan book by forgeworld. Nothing that could be used in comp I guess, but friendly games should be no problem.

I'd never spotted the opal amulet, off to look that up.

Just keep the build simple, i tend to use something like

BSB
Barded Demonic Mount
Talisman of Endurance
Dragonhelm
Great Weapon
Potion of Foolhardiness
(1+/5++ with a 2++ vs flamming, S7 and can be immune to psychology for a turn to keep him from running)

Give'em the Gifts you want and hide him one inch behind a unit of trolls 2 to 3 rows deep, and move the unit carefully. This essentially gives you 3 regen saves to keep a cannon from potentially taking out your character as well as keeping him out of line of sight for other types of shooting. If you face a flaming cannon then you have a 2++ save.

I've run mine as follows:

Demonic Steed
Talisman of Preservation
Enchanted Shield

He has a 1+ Armor save and 4+ ward with a move of 8.

I'm planning on shaking it up a bit though with the following.

Barded Demonic Steed
Shield (for 1+ armor against shooting)
Halberd
Talisman of Preservation
Potion of Foolhardiness

That's a 2+/4++ and less 1 in movement. But, he'll hit a bit harder with S6. Thinking about the great weapon instead for S7, but I love that high initiative.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of them at the moment but imagine Plague Drone models (Without the penis like noses!) built as per the box but with Marauder Shields. It's nothing special or fancy but seeing as Kayzk the Befouled looks like a rotting bag of puss I figured his knights would too and the Plague Drones also ride monstrous mounts, as far as I was concerned it was a win win idea for the models.

If you want to see them I cold probably get a picture up at some point over the weekend though.
