I know that this is a little early to start a blog for a GT that is typically held in November, but that is realistically the next time I will be able to attend a GT given my work schedule and, since i have to re-do most of my army after the update i figured i would post my army as it gets finished along the way as well as keep battle reports posted.

I know that the 3++/third eye of tzeentch combo is frowned upon, but i am hoping that given the less common build i am using will make this setup easy to look over when judging the brokeness of the list. I am using lore of tzeentch because i want this guy to nuke units while my army is moving forward and clean up units when i am locked into combat. He is meant to net points from the enemy at range, and i feel like tzeentch lore is VERY good at doing that. I know that warpflame can hurt at times, but in combat i have an exalted with flaming to remove regen before the rest of my combat army attacks and then he should be able to kill most things before they are able to get a significant regen anyways.

Bsb and Sorcerer are both on Daemonic Mounts for the 3rd wound, toughness 5, and improved armor save. The BsB has flaming attacks as well. At I6 he will strike before my entire army which will remove regen from armies that rely heavily on it. They will both be joining the unit of 17 Warriors in a 5 x 5 formation. They will make way so that there is only ever 1 man from the unit of warriors that is capable of being attacked by the enemy head on and the rest of the attacks must be allocated to the very durable heroes. This creates an extremely resilient anvil that is capable of breaking steadfast against a lot of units after a bit of combat.

The unit of 17 Warriors will be used as an anvil as described above. I opted to give them the blasted standard for 2 reasons...

1.) I want the unit to make it into combat as in tact as possible so that it can do its job as an anvil and steadfast breaker

2.) It halves the str of cannons if they were to try to snipe my exalteds out of the unit. Since cannons no longer auto ignore armor, it means they will hit at str 5 which allows the exlated heroes a 3+/4++ and 4+/3++ as well as reducing the cannons chance to wound to a 4+. I want enemy shooting elsewhere.

The 2 nurgle chariots and 2 Gorebeast Chariots will each be used in their respective pairs, chariots on one flank of the anvil and gorebeasts on the other flank of the anvil. Great for keeping fast enemy units at bay and then for loads of damage on a narrow frontage. These combine charges will be perfect for breaking hordes given the general survivability of nurgle chariots in our new book.

The Marauder Horsemen are chaff and chaff killers whose uses are fairly obvious.

One unit of Skullcrushers will be deployed on the extremes of each flank. I wanted to keep the units as small as possible so that if they get baited around I won’t be out many points during the game. Given the size of the units i also wonder if it’s really worth the enemies’ time and effort to lead these guys around. 3 SC might not hit the hardest, but they will still provide a significant amount of damage and mobility for their points.

Any thoughts are welcome! I will give this list a handful of games before considering any real changes though.

It's a very nice list, but I would strongly suggest taking Metal over Tzeentch and getting a Level 2 Shadow as back-up to help you with your fights.

BTW, are you intending to add painting to this blog also, because if so then it will belong in Army Diaries.

I very well may end up using lore of metal, im just hoping to roll with a bit of a less common list if at all possible ><. If i feel like tzeentch lore just isnt cutting it though, i will change. i still want to win :).

Yes this will have painting and modeling updates, so it should probably go in army diaries...my bad! are you able to move it over there or should i repost?

Your ding will not come on the Sorcerer Lord of Tz, but from two units of Scullcrushers... those guys are brutal.

I like the list myself, no Nurgle Daemon Prince and no Chimera's... people will be happy not to see the staple of 75% of all Chaos Warrior builds.

yeah, i am hoping that the fact they are take in the minimum size possible will help. That with the no DP and no Chimera im hoping it will not be rated as an over the top list...though i dont expect a fluff bunny vote either lol. I just want a competitive list that is different :)

Either my Chaos Dwarfs or my Warriors, not sure beyond that. If it's Dwarfs it'll be a gunline. If it's Warriors, it's going to be an MSU list.

Wow, that looks like a solid list. Something tells me it'll hit like a sledgehammer!... Nice to see build that doesn't involve twin Chimeras and a DP. So tire of seeing players run that list.

why thank you ashicus! I used a similar list back in 7th ed and i though i would try to recreate it. It is generally different than most lists circulating around right now, but it does look like it is capable of doing well. On paper i love it :D. As soon as i can get some games in ill make sure to put them on here along with thoughts on my list. The major thing for debate to me is what lore to use. Tzeentch, Metal, or switch over to Slaanesh on foot and roll Slaanesh.

I made a couple of changes based on reccomendations. I switched one exalted hero for a level 2 of shadow. The overall effect will be similar as he and the bsb are both still very hard to kill and will reduce the frontage. I also added the ruby ring of ruin to the disc lord to give him 2 chaff killers in fireball and blue fire.

The level 2 also brings miasma as a combat spell as well as skull of katam for a more reliable magic phase, which will be very important. Between skull of katam, chaos familiar on a tzeentch caster, and the lore of tzeentch attribute i feel i can pretty reliably count on 2 extra power dice per magic phase, taking my expected pool from 5 to 7 dice per phase, which nets and additional spell. More or less every magic phase will be some combination Infernal Gateway, Miasma, Glean Magic, Treason of Tzeentch, and Bolt of Change.

A dispel scroll is always a good choice, take one instead of the familiar or the skull. Also, the second level on the shadow caster is redundant, you will rarely cast anything besides miasma.
