Hey guys, thinking since a long time about the war shrine now. Since it get nerved and affects only characters it;s almost useless. But.... who is actually casting the bound spell. Nothing in the stats says something about the caster and casting with a lvl 0 is actually impossible. So is the shrine master the caster and if yes, what level. And if i change the master with a lvl 4 wizard, would he be the caster and i can 1 dice the lvl5 bound spell ????? Did someone ever think about this or read in an FAQ ? I play with a lot of characters and it seems more and more handy to take 2 war shrines and boost their toughness right into the sky. A lvl 4 on a shrine would make sense if you really use it as shrine and not as war machines |

Aren't bound spells unaffected by wizard levels? |

^The above is correct. All bound spells are not affected by wizard level. Its a straight dice roll, hence why the casting values are so low typically. Also, I've had fun with a warshrine and Throgg. It gets a little insane when he's strength 10, toughness 7, completely abusing everything. |

As the guys said, having a read over the Bound Spell rules might clarify it all for you. |

i'm thinking about 2 warshrines. How do you cast usually, 1 dice and hope for luck or 2 dice to make sure lvl 5 isn't to easy to 1 dice |

I usualy save 2 dice for the end of my phase. Depending on how many dice I get of course :) |

Where I play I ususlly 2 dice it early in my magic phase. Quite often this drags out some dispel dice as my opponnets dont want to run the risk of me getting a second demon prince on the board. Personally, I think that because the odds of getting 2 6's from 3 die is about 1 in 17, they'd be better off letting it go. Maybe when they work that out I'll stop taking it and take another gorebeast instead :-) |

well i was reading again and am more dissappointed with my idea. If you need 2 dice to make it happen and the opponent just needs 1 dispeldice with a lvl 4 and will easily dispel i think it's not really worth it. At least i assume every wizzard can dispel it and use his lvl. descissions descissions........ it's just too tempting. i play hortense lord on disc, lvl 4 nurgle, hero on demonic mount bsb, lvl 2 wizzard disc at a 2996 point game tournament. If these guys get the right dice to upgrade their toughness every round i don't need the rest of my army. Actually i need a 4 on the EOTG table and this is managable at 3 dice. Does soemone has some experience with their fighting abilitys ???? Is it worth to park it somewhere to close a gap ??? Edited by Kurrilino, Jun 5 2013, 12:46 AM.

Depending on how many power dice I end up with, I'll chuck 2-3 dice at it. Normally I'll bring one if I have a Nurgle caster because the EotG buffs in conjunction with the lore attribute make things pretty bananas. I would not recommend parking it on a flank seeing as it'll run from static combat res. Mine usually travels right in between my Nurgle warriors and Throgg/Trolls to maximize my character bubble. Also, it keeps it from getting bogged down by fast cav and the likes since I make it damn near impossible to charge without really having to work for it. Like said above, it really ends up being a good puller for dispel dice. And if your opponent lets it ride, you might get a free Daemon Prince. The winds of Chaos at their finest! :D |

so who is actually casting the bound spell. The ring of fire is casted by the guy who owns it. But how does it work with the warshrine. Is it the shrinemaster ???? and what happens actually at a miscast ???? |

Well, for all intensive purposes the shrinemaster is casting the spell. However its an innate bound spell, so there isn't a miscast. In fact, you want a double 6 irresistible force because then your opponent can't attempt to dispel it and there's no negative effects since its innate. ^_^ |

Also, Someone mentioned that a lvl 4 just needs 1 die to dispell the PL 5 warshrine spell. Thats, potentially true, but the same can be said for a lvl 2 wizard as well. The problem with that is if the one die they roll comes up as a 1 or a 2 then their attempt to dispell the spell auto fails. (Natural roll total of a 1 or 2 BEFORE adding wizard lvls/ bonuses Always fails for cast or dispell) Which means most opponents will throw 2+ dice at it to dispell it rather than risk rolling a 1 or a 2 on one die to dispell. If they wizard that attempts to dispell a spell fails to dispell that spell it cant try again (Add it wizard levels) for the rest of the phase. So potentially you can pull 2+ dispell dice from your opponent right off the bat in the magic phase. I do it with my Mutalith because, even though the spell isnt devistating, (Unless you roll a 6) for some reason my opponents dont like to let it go off. This makes casting the rest of my spells much easier. Dont bank on it going off every turn, but its a great way to keep your opponent reacting to you rather than the oter way around. Also, I wouldnt suggest putting a character in the warshrine. If he gets killed the Warshrine's LD becomes 0. Which means it fails ALL LD tests.... one panic or break check later and 125+ points is going to high tail it off the board or get run down. Keep it as a special choice, ONLY throw it into combat in the flank or rear, and use it to pull Dispell dice early. :) Hope this helps. :) |

wait a minute.......... i was taught some hours ago that the wizzard lvl doesn't count for the bound spell. It came up because i had the same idea. Cast 1 dice and force 2 dispeldice. It was something that bound spells are generally not affected by wizzard spells. That lowered my expectations a bit. I have to read about this in rule book. Sounds too good to be true P.s. i was reading it wrong...... you were talking about 1 dispel dice when i was reading powerdice..... my fault Edited by Kurrilino, Jun 5 2013, 07:11 AM.
