I understand that when attaining daemonhood on a character you retain all equipment and items, and retain your casting ability, but do you reatain the characters special abilities? In that what special character would make an awesome ascension to daemonhood? I personally think Sigvald would be kick ass

Due to the Favoured Son rule, Sigvald would never become a daemon prince. Ditto for Valkia (consort of the blood god rule).
All the other characters with eye of the gods could potentially become daemons, in which case I think they would keep their special rules, unless overridden by a daemon ability (unbreakable for example).

Yeah totally overlooked the dark fury rule. In that case festus as a DP would be a powerhouse.

They do not keep their special rules.
Eye of the gods Deamonhood

This Deamon Prince will retain any equipment, Chaos Mutations and Powers, magic items and any other rewards from this table gained during its former existence (if it had any).
It then goes on to tell that the model keeps its BSB and general status and wizard levels. Special rules are not retained (otherwise, the new Deamon Prince would also have the eye of the gods special rule).

This is how I would play it too.

At least festus would retain his potions
