Anyone have any tips on painting on chaos star tatoos onto your models? I'm currently in the process of building up some hellstriders and three ogres (to use them as chaos trolls) and I've got a running joke with one of my hobbyist friends that I want my ogres to look "goth" northern mercenary ogres and that they look as if "they belong at the front row of a NIN gig". |

Try a micron pen. I have had pretty good results with those on my dark eldar for runes and whatnot. Something around a .05 width works well. Just use it to outline the general shape of your tattoo, then basecoat, then highlight. I have found tattoos really only need a single highlight stage, and they look great. Hope that helps! |

Painting tatoo first, then shade your model's body, then using lot of glaze skill. Warmachine MK2 book - Mercenarie include really excellent "how to painting a tatoo on flesh?" article. I hope this is a little help. |

I tried a micron pen before, but failed with it. |

I once read an article that basically said the difference between looking like a tattoo and facepaint is a flesh wash as the last step. I would also use a dark grey as opposed to black. basically, paint/highlight the tattoo, then wash/glaze your standard flesh colour over the top. I have never tried this, but the theory is sound imo.
