I'm a complete Chaos Newbie. Basically, model wise, I have Marauders, Warriors, Knights, Marauder Horsemen, a Slaughter/Vortex, a single (unbuilt) Gorebeast Chariot, some hounds, and a couple of spawns, trolls, and Dragon Ogre Shoggoths. Anyway, just for fun anyway, I think I want to try out a cavalry list. Problem is, I'm horrible at picking equipment, and adding in the options of marks, I'm not entirely sure what I want to do beyond "Lots of Horses!" In fact, I'm not 100% sure I've even got enough cavalry to do it, but I think I might. If not, I'm pretty close. Baseline idea: 1x Sorcerer Lord - L4 1x Exalted Hero - BSB 5x Warhounds 5x Warhounds 10 Marauder Horsemen 10 Marauder Horsemen 9x Chaos Knights 9x Chaos Knights Lord in one Knight unit, Hero in the other Originally, I was thinking Mono Nurgle, though with the small units, Slaanesh may not be a horrible idea. Then again, Tzeentch could bump up the saves. Then again mono Khorne could just be amusing for the sheer number of attacks. I can see pros and cons to marks from any of the gods with this (have to change the lord for a Khorne list though), so I'll take any suggestions or options. I've even got Knights with lances! Though aside from an old Arbaal the Undefeated, I don't have any Juggernauts/Skullcrushers/etc. So any thoughts on making this generic outline of a list usable? |

Build the gore beast and mark it nurgle they rock and will give you another target for cannons and if it makes combat it can really hold up low Ws units Also Ensorcelled have better staying power than lances |

ShanceC: I like fast moving hard hitting and good AS list. Nurgle Knicks could be very bad azz for you. |

I run Nurgel knights in my lists all the time! and i just think they are the sh*t. with nurgel and enscrolled weapons they can stay in combat easily and with +1 str they can kick out a lot of damage! and the marauders will make good war machine hunting! |

Ok, so the all cavalry thing seems feasible. Equipment suggestions for the BSB and Sorcerer? I'd like to go with the Spell familiar, but beyond that, I'm not sure what. Armor of Destiny usually seems like a good choice for the general. I'm used to playing OnG, with cheap units at the hope of them getting lucky a few turns before dying horrific deaths*. *Says the General who thinks like a goblin: 6 diced an 8+ spell, Miscast, Large Template - wiped out 23 of 28 goblins! |

You defiantly want a ward for both characters given they are going to be in combat units, and my first reaction would be to give them MoT to improve their ward but given they will be in a nurgle unit you can't, and MoN isn't a bad choice anyway. As for other items for the sorc chaos familiar is solid. I'd suggest a build similar to this: Sorcerer Lord L.4 familiar armor of destiny chaos steed enchanted shield exalted hero talisman of preservation daemonic mount with barding scaly skin battle standard halberd Gives you too well protected characters with a +1 AS and a +4 ward. |

Mate I'd try the Marauder Horsemen in units of 5. It will give you more chaff and flexibility. Try at least one unit with Khorne Flails and the others Slaanesh. Khorne is great to assist the knights with a flank charge, and the extra strength shines against toughness 4 opponents like Dwarfs and Beastmen. The problem they have in general is low strength so bigger units tend to struggle. Use them to support your knights, hunt war machines, flank charge and they'll perform well. |
