Well, given your options the best thing to do is to NOT let his knights get the charge on you. This isnt going to be overly easy since he has MV on you but if you can use the dogs to redirect charges and hold back your main infantry you SHOULD be able to get some nice flank charges on his Lance formations.

Next, I would suggest using Lore of Metal (on an unmarked or Tzeentch marked Sorcerer) to take down as many of the Knights as you can before combat. Brets are one of the few armies we dont advance on becasue they HAVE to come to us. :)

Other than that, have fun, adapt your army to suit your needs and NEVER be afraid of taking a chance. You're going to love this army!

Hope this helps!

So I just started playing Warhammer this year and ironically my friends started a Bret army at the same time.

At 1000pts we both pretty much just played battalions with me a sorc and him a treb.

I would have your Warriors use Halbreds and like Tremendous said is try your best to prevent them from charging you. I would take your knights and charge them into either Swordsmen or Archers they will most likely loss combat and hopefully flee. Ive been tied up with his Lord on Griff I cant tell you how many times with my Exalted Hero.

If your just using battalion make sure his knights don't come into combat with your marauders. You will always be going first due to him having to pray so vanguard those hounds forward and try and take out those trebs or flank charge the archer unit so they cant stand and shoot.

Ack! Read the army book first and formost! lol! Understand it and that will help a TON with your army. :)

You dont charge the Knights with your hounds. You put the hound in front of the knights so that they cant charge any of your units other than the hounds and you angle the hounds in such a way that if he over runs (Or pursues) he ends up in a bad position so that you can get a beneficial charge off on him.

As for what to upgrade your units with? That all depends on what you plan to take, your list point total, and exactly how you want to play the units. Its hard to tailor a list for another person because everyone plays a bit differently.

If your looking for ideas go on you tube and look at other people's battle reports (Just type into the seach block "WoC Battle Report" and a bunch should spring up) you'll get a good sample of how ppl play their warriros and maybe give you some ideas on how to play your own.

Really though, nothing is going to help as much as just sitting down and playing a bunch of games against your buddy. Experiance is the best teacher in Warhammer. :)

hope this helps

:)

As Tremendous said read the book to figure out what works for you, everyone is different.

I would say a popular way to line up your warriors is 6x2 6 in the front row in two ranks (since you have 12) now this line up will not help vs the knights but vs infantry you will get max amount of attacks.

As for marks everyone has a different favorite. Personally my army is Nurgle and Khorne (with some Slaneesh Fas cav Slaves!) Marauders I would just run them with sword and board anymore for an anvil no mark.

O and your Knights I would suggest giving them Enscrolled weapons over lances.
