Hi!

So I constructed this armylist using the ETC rules. I was going to give myself a year to get the army up, mostly buying new things but using some partsbof my old outdated army. I was hoping for some comments if I am on the right track, since the final list will decide what models I buy. The rules might change a little, but I can adapt as time moves on. So, here it is:

Merkits

Daemon Prince: Chaos armor, flight, Slaanesh, Level 4 with Slaanesh lore, Allure of Slaanesh, Flaming beath, Chaos familiar, Charmed Shield, Obsidian trinket, Warrior bane.

-"I like him, since he can tie up low strength units or perhaps a monster, while still having good magic capabilities. The 4+ ward against magic helps against the death lore, and the 3+ armor save is the maximum I can get within the rules"

Sorcerer: Level 1 user of the Shadow lore, Mark of Slaanesh, Daemonic mount, Enchanted Shield, Opal amulet, Dispel Scroll.

"I love the theory behind this guy. Grants me the necessary dispel scroll, while also being a rather tough model able to hunt all kinds of small units and warmachines down. The 1+ save with 3 wounds and toughness 5 is fantastic".

Exalted Battle Standard Bearer: Mark of Khorne, Juggernaut, Great weapon, Talisman of preservation, Potion of foolhardiness, Soul feeder.

-"At first I did not want a BSB but then I thought I needed someone that can hold things in place. He is easily the most durable piece in the army, with really good saves and 3 wounds."

------

5 Marauder horsemen of Slaanesh: musician, throwing spears.

5 Marauder horsemen of Slaanesh: musician, throwing spears.

5 Marauder horsemen of Slaanesh: musician, throwing spears, shields.

-"Fast cavalry, used as redirectors or hunting down expendable and/or warmachines. I like the spears, since in the 7th ed. I liked how the ranged alternative could help in picking off fanatics and such. Plus, I do not plan on having them fight much, so flails seemed excessive."

5 Warhounds: Vanguard

5 Warhounds: Vanguard

5 Warhounds: Vanguard

-"Redirectors, protection for the various units. Vanguard means they can shield the marauder cavalry a bit"

Chaos chariot of Slaanesh

Chaos chariot of Slaanesh

-"Probably still pretty good against infantry, can be used to reinforce combats and they are quiet cheap"

------

Gorebeast chariot of Nurgle

-"They seem pretty tough, and having something like that is great against lone monsters or small units. I did not go with Slaanesh because with the rest of the army being immune to panic save the warhounds, I could easily capitalize by marking it Nurgle for further toughness."

Chimera: Flaming breath, Regeneration

-"Not sure how good this one is, but alot of people seem to like them. Nice to hold up infantry units, but my favorite things are the breath, terror and fly."

------

3 Skullcrushers: Enscrolled weapons, standard with the banner of eternal flame.

-"Really good offensive troops, and I take a banner to help with combat resolution as well as getting to paint one for looks. Probably using three lords of slaanesh on daemonic mount for these models"

Hellcannon:

-"My answer to deathstars, huge infantry blocks and such. Has great synergy with the Lore of Slaanesh"

------

I like to play MSU, and this list does that well, I hope? I like the Lore of Slaanesh to hold units, or to prey on their leadership scores. Rolling ld-tests with 3 die seems great coupled with the hellcannon and 3 terrorcausers, plus a few fearcausers.

What do you think? :)

Without any infantry I think the Gorebeast will lag behind. That's my experience anyway.

I've also been running a Slaanesh DP with the etc restrictions and it can work well. But he's too squishy and too many points to use effectively. I would rather go for a Sorceror Lord if you're going for a L4. Put him on a Daemonic Mount and he'll be more durable than a DP. Only drawback is that he doesn't fly, but can join units if needed.

I've also found death magic to be an excellent lore to combine with Slaanesh. Especially if you give the dispel scroll to the Lord and skull of katam to the hero. That way you can almost guarantee 3 spells that have to be stopped each phase.

Thanks for the feedback!

Sorcerer lord then? I have been thinking of it, since in ETC nothing is more restricted than the DP. Apparently any kind of DP is the most powerful piece in the game to them. I will look into the skull and lord, see how it can help.

What about the lore of metal? Allows me to get the tzeentch mark, and I hope that with good protection and MSU opposing death and shadow mages lose quite a bit of power. Plus, final transmutation or the +1 to hit spell seems great?

there is still confusion if banner of eternal flame works with enscrolled weapons. Are you sure ETC is on same page as you? I personally think that boosted Searing Doom is more deadly for you DP than SL especially on flying chars (Lord of Change, Disc rider etc). You can always pin down unit with death sorc or use scroll in turn 1 to be in combat by turn 2. I would also remove 1 HorseMen unit for another core slaanesh chariots but its up to you.

Okay, I listened to the criticism and thought it all over. I replaced the prince with a sorcerer lord, and removed the gorebeast for a regular chariot. Also cut a unit of horsemen and dogs. It came out like this:

Sorcerer lord of Tzeentch; Armor of destiny, chaos familiar, disc, lvl4, Lore of Tzeentch, obsidian trinket and ruby ring.

Exalted of Tzeentch; Daemonic mount, BSB, preservation, foolhardiness, scaled skin, great weapon.

Sorcerer of Slaanesh; Daemonic mount, Shadow Lore, Dispel scroll, enchanted shield.

Chariot of Khorne

Chariot of Khorne

Chariot of Khorne

5 Marauder horsemen of Slaanesh; Javelins, musician

5 Marauder horsemen of Slaanesh; Javelins, shields, musician.

5 Warhounds wih vanguard

5 Warhounds with vanguard

Chimera with regeneration and flaming breath

Hellcannon

3 Skullcrushers with a standard bearer holding the banner of eternal flame.

-------

May be that the list got better. If the ETC ruling is off on the banner, I will take the discipline one instead. Sorc lord is a bit vulnerable so I want to hide him all the time, but he has some serious artillery in him which may help with frostheart phoenixes or other small units.

Its a bit sad I cant get soul feeder in there, but the save is better in the end I think for the exalted. He is tough, and can be smoked and mirrored around. Unless you are a gunline, its not easy to catch many points either. I like the look of lore of tzeentch. For all its downsides, it gives some magic defence with glean magic and then gateway. It suits my playstyle to evade and target hard targets, and only engage when I have the advantage. The lord, flamebreathing chimeras, hellcannon and marauder cavalry can do that nicely I hope :)
