Hi guys. Me and 2 of my mates where thinking about buying this new book. Since we often play 3 man battle royal, this seems like the perfect expantion for us. Has any of you guys tried these new scenarios, and if you have, how do you like the book?

Cheers

I also play a lot of 3 way battles so I'm interested in the book but I won't buy it until I hear some good press, so any reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Played a game this past weekend it was entertaining to say the least. As the name of the expansion implies it is very back staby. Just to give a small example each phase you may declare a different opponent which means you can charge one player during movement and then during your magic phase declare a different enemy with no wizards. If you do this you can only target his units with offensive spells and hexes but you can freely cast augments on your self. As your declared enemy is the only one allowed to make dispell attempts you can be especially underhanded and bribe that player with coins or a temporary truce in exchange for letting all your spells go through. Given the player your locked in combat with may counter offer.

think of triumph and treachery as playing monopoly. it can be fun, or lead to drama if people take stuff personally. if your friends would laugh and chalk up the dirty backstabbin as an epic story to share...definitely pick it up. if your mates are the type that whine or act emo because life isnt fair... pick it up and find new friends =)

Its a pretty fun game type. Its perfect for my shop considering we did multiplayer games anyways and it cleared up a lot of the problems we would always have. There are still a few flaws though. Its really annoying to have people pick enemies that they know won't shut down their buff magic. I know that its part of the system but if you are casting something that is going to influence a combat or something with another player that player should have the option to stop it. The best part though is the mercs! There are so many things people don't think to take because they are normally bad in that faction but are pretty hot when used by a different one. Not to mention there are some things certain races just shouldn't have access too.

Had a game last Thursday and had an absolute blast.

I can see that it would certainly not appeal to serious tournament players but for a bunch of people looking to have a good fun game it’s brilliant.

We’ve already arranged a second game for this week :)

I've played a couple of games so far, one 5 player and one 4 player. Lots of fun. The best version of multiplayer warhammer I've seen. I highly recommend it. Our first game was 1500 pts + 300 pts of merc, and it went for almost 5 hours. So next game we went down to 1200 pts +200 points of mercs and it was only around 3 hours. Some day I'll get people together and try a large game (2000 pts each) and see how it goes.

Good to hear it's a fun expansion. Given I play multiplayer games fairly often I just might have to pick it up.
