Chapter One: Death’s Wake

-1-

In The Aftermath

The rather brutal murder of the great Makaioshin, Toshin, put an eternal blemish upon the honor of The Cursed Legion. Sanosuke had risen to the challenge and proved that he was indeed the strongest of the Dark Trinity. The Hitori’s mastery over his Ryuugan was unmatched. No one could even comprehend the true extent of the demon hybrid’s visual prowess. Even after placing the planet under a time and space barrier, Sanosuke managed to topple the demon of old. However, it didn’t come without a price. The Hitori was severely drained. Another battle on such a scale would no doubt result in Sanosuke’s demise. So for now the hybrid needed to lay low and keep out of sight. Damian, Wyndara, and Raven were all gunning for the great Makaioshin. However, they all had bigger problems, Kizura and Gohan. Both fighters were in league with Sanosuke, yet they kept their allegiance a secret and instead they rose to take control of the alliance. Kizura played things off as if he really gave a damn about his deceased master. His speech about the people of Nishar struck a chord in the remaining flock. Damian was even able to set aside his hatred of Gohan in order to do what it took to take his place as king. However, he couldn’t do that until the wish was made, and Nishar was brought into the realm of mortals.

“There are only two more Dragonballs remaining.” Kizura said to the other members of the alliance as they all gathered in the briefing room. “We must gather them as quickly as possible. Who knows what Sanosuke is planning, he could be trying to gather the remainder of the Dragonballs for himself. Hell he could’ve struck a deal with our other enemy, Aisu. Whatever the case, we need to be on high alert and gather what remains of our prize. Toshin might be gone, but we must still carry on his legacy.” Kizura had been speaking in such a way since Toshin’s death.

Kizura’s false desire to carry on the late Toshin’s will came across as earnest and just. The only one who saw through Kizura’s speeches and knew what was really on the way was Gohan. Each time Gohan sat in on the meetings he couldn’t help but grin. Wyndara, Mania and Damian’s foolishness would never grow old. None of them could see through what Gohan believed to be painstakingly obvious. His sudden return and regrouping with Kizura and the immediate betrayal of Toshin by Sanosuke, all fed into one another. Gohan couldn’t believe that these three couldn’t see through the plot Kizura and Gohan had hatched.

“Who will you be sending after the Dragonballs?” Wyndara asked as she ran her fingertips over the tabletop. Everyone already knew the answer, but for whatever reason Wyndara desired confirmation.

“Since Gohan has the best relations with the people of this planet and is our strongest member, he will locate the last two Dragonballs.” Kizura responded as he crossed his arms over his chest. The demon’s tone revealed a bit of his irritation toward Wyndara. Asking obvious questions was something of a pet peeve for Kizura. For the demon there was certainly such as a thing as a dumb question. Believing that no question was unwarranted, did nothing but irritate the demon further. He wasn’t one to entertain stupidity.

“I see, well if you believe it best then that is what we’ll do.” Wyndara spoke as if she actually had some kind of say in the matter. Everyone knew that Kizura was no weakling; he’d grown quite powerful in the recent months. Since Raven was nowhere to be seen Wyndara, Damian and Mania had no choice but to follow the orders of the deceased Toshin’s second in command. The chain of command had to be followed, even if their true leader was no more.

“I’ll head out within the hour.” Gohan said as he removed himself from his seat. “I think I’ll go and stretch my legs in the gravity chamber until then.” The hybrid said as he made his way toward the exit. The others didn’t bother to contest the hybrid’s decision, he was the expert after all.

“Kizura.” Damian waited until after the door closed behind the Saiyan to speak. “Do you honestly believe it best to trust that Saiyan? What if he is in league with Sanosuke? I understand that he’s done a lot in terms of gathering the Dragonballs, but don’t you find all this strange?” Damian rallied off his questions in an agonizingly worrisome tone.

Kizura sighed as he eyed the son of Toshin. “Gohan has nothing to gain by joining forces with Sanosuke, especially if Sanosuke has joined forces with Aisu. Gohan knows that by aligning with us he has a better chance of taking down Aisu. Remember, Gohan’s relationship with Sanosuke practically doesn’t exist.” The demon explained to Damian and the others. “I’ve peered into the depths of his mind. Despite his physical change he still has the same desire, to destroy Aisu and entire army.” Kizura bent the truth ever so slightly, yet there was no evidence of him doing so in either his demeanor or tone.

Damian and the others would only continue to be blind to Kizura’s own role in the ensuing chaos. The demon’s years of service to Toshin removed him completely from the list of suspects. Kizura’s falsified loyalty proved to be his greatest advantage. Although, the fact that he was able to trick his comrades so easily disappointed Kizura. He always thought that the trio had better heads on their shoulders. To get so far into Toshin’s ranks, yet not have the ability to see through such simple deception was pathetic to say the least. The sooner these three are killed and are able to join their deceased lord the better.

Damian glanced toward Mania and Wyndara before responding, “Fine if you trust him that much we have no choice but to let things play out. However, we will be keeping an eye on him Kizura. Gohan is still an outsider; he is not of demon blood.” Damian felt the need to remind Kizura of Gohan’s heritage.

“Do as you wish Damian. I will not waste time convincing you of the truth. That will be something you’ll need to see with your own eyes.” Kizura walked past the trio and headed toward the chamber exit. “However, I suggest that the three of you grow stronger.” Kizura stopped just shy of the doorway’s threshold. “If what you’re suggesting is true you’ll need much more power in order to take Gohan down. I might be powerful, but I am not foolish enough to think I could take him down alone if it ever came to that.” With that Kizura left, leaving his subordinates to think upon his words.

Chapter One: Death’s Wake

The Return of Chaos

Deep within the heart of the ruins of old rested a world unknown to all who lived on the surface. Only two managed to survive the trials of this unknown world, however the darkness that resided here was not thwarted. The nameless necromancer, that had become known as The Magus, had been spared. Gohan and Daikon’s decision to spare the Magus would soon prove to be an error in judgment on their part. Even without the mystical power of the Two Star Dragonball at his command, the Magus still had enough power to come up with a revenge scheme. However, that scheme was impossible to create without the help of another, darker and more powerful being. Ironically this being also possessed the power of a Dragonball.

“So then Magus, you think that now is the time to rise up and retake the planet?” A woman’s voice met the Magus as he sat down on the scorched earth. “Do you really think that you have the power to lead the undead and take down Gohan, and the rest of his allies?” The female continued to question the Magus as his eyes drew to a close. The disembodied female spoke from some unknown realm; her words resonated in both the Magus’ eardrums and his very mind.

“With your help, yes. I have no doubts that Gohan and his comrades can be defeated.” The Magus responded as a grin spread across his greyed lips. The wounds that the mage had suffered were completely healed, but that was to be a given. The conflict between the Magus, Gohan and Daikon had transpired roughly two months ago. Since then the sorcerer had been doing nothing but gathering his strength, and coping with the loss of his subordinates and his prized scepter.

“You’ve put a lot of faith in my power, haven’t you my dear friend?” The woman laughed mockingly. It was clear the disembodied force was still on the fence about working with the failed Magus. After all, he’d been beaten by a half-pint Saiyan and an obese brute. Joining forces with someone as weak as that was a little beneath the invisible terror.

“Indeed I have my dear Sheeva. The Dragonball that you harbor is what makes you special. It puts you above those I would’ve gone to for assistance in this…venture.” The Magus attempted to bribe his potential business partner with flattery and complements. Nothing would stop him from going forward with his plot, he was determined to take over the emerald planet and exact his revenge upon Gohan. The Ascended Super Saiyan would pay for thwarting his plans before they could come to the light.

Sheeva continued to laugh, “You’re truly a fool mage.” As Sheeva spoke her physical body started to materialize before the seated Magus. “However, I wish to see this plan of yours take root. Seeing the Namekian home-world plunged into eternal darkness is a grand opportunity. Our kind deserves a planet for itself. Taking what is our birthright is indeed the correct decision.” The four armed goddess concluded as she appeared in her full glory.

The goddess’ flesh was the color of milk chocolate; however her flesh was rough like the scales of a snake. Her irises were a haunting vermillion, and glowed with an insidious light. She was scantly glad in gladiator like armor, her thighs, her shins, her shoulders and her four forearms were the only parts of her body that were actually protected. Crossing her chest were two red cloths that simply served to cover her nipples, they did nothing to hide her bust and the nature of her bosom. A belt was wrapped around Sheeva’s waist, and from it descended a loin cloth that hid her presumed lady parts. One would have to leave what Sheeva’s completely bare form looked like to their imagination. Lastly, lodged in Sheeva’s belly button was the Three Star Dragonball, it released a dim golden light as it fed Sheeva with its supernatural power.

The Magus’ eyes slowly opened as Sheeva ran her top left hand over the horns on her near bald head. A grin spread across the defeated mage’s face as he took in the sight of his accomplice. Steadily the mage moved to his feet, his grin grew even wider.

“Such an impressive form my dear Sheeva, you’ll inspire fear in the hearts of those above.” The Magus looked up at the towering woman. She stood at a frightening ten feet; she was practically double the height of the mage.

“Tell me Magus, by what name should I address you?” Sheva questioned as she stopped caressing her horns.

“Ah yes, a name…” The Magus rubbed his chin as he thought of one. “For now you can simply call me Asmodeus.”

“Well then Asmodeus, are the preparations complete now that you’ve enlisted my help?”

“Essentially, yes. Now I just need to send our brethren to our first target.” Asmodeus grinned as he turned away from Sheeva. “Sending legions of the undead seems a little…cliché, so instead I’ll be calling forth demons from the depths. They will do our bidding and destroy everything in their path.” Asmodeus chuckled as he brought his hands together. A runic circle appeared before the mage as he started to call upon the power of the mystical arts. The runic circle emitted a violet light as it expanded.

“Arise my brethren! Arise and bring down your infernal wrath!” Asmodeus cried as the ground quaked. The dark power the mage was calling forth exceeded anyone’s expectations.

There was no doubt that the Magus had grown in power since his defeat. However, one had to ask. How exactly did Asmodeus get so powerful? While fighting Gohan it was made clear that the mage would never be able to return to the surface world, yet he’d found some way to change all of that. Only time would reveal that secret.

Chapter One: Death’s Wake

-3-

Let It All Burn

     Crack!

The sea floor split open and an infernal heat bubbled to surface, the fish and other sea life that sifted through the water’s depths were cooked inside and out. An insidious steam rose from the boiling surface and climbed toward the emerald heavens. At a glance one might think this boiling to be from the heat of a deep sea vent, or forming volcano. However, if one were to investigate further it would be obvious that this wasn’t the case.

The infernal heat was charged with an energy that could only be described only as fowl and evil. It was born of the ultimate darkness; one that Namek had not seen since the days of the Super Nameks. This encroaching darkness called out to the protectors of the planet, they were instantly warned of what was to come. The elders had done nothing but try and prevent the flames of war from consuming the planet, but that seemed all for naught. This all-consuming darkness instilled a greater fear in the people of Namek than Aisu ever could. The ancient Super Nameks once called upon a dark energy that followed through the entire mortal realm. This ancient power was what the Super Nameks used to become as powerful as they were, eventually that power was bred into their very being. However, just because the Super Nameks were defeated and banished, that didn’t mean the well from which they drew their power was gone. In fact that power was anything but gone; it was simply suppressed by the spells of the elders and spirit of the long dead Elder Guru.

“This isn’t good, this isn’t good at all!” Elder Argo mused as he looked out unto the horizon. The elder’s brow wrinkled even further as he peered into the distance, the light of his yellow eyes dimmed with sorrow. “We’ve done so much to try and suppress this evil, yet we still failed.” Argo rolled his left hand into a fist in anger. “I don’t think Gohan has the power to defeat this evil alone, but perhaps…” The elder mulled over an idea in private, his gaze shifted toward the suns above. “He has mastered the power of an Ascended Super Saiyan, yes I can feel it.” Argo said to himself as his antenna twitched.

Argo had a keen sense for the progress of his surrogate son. The elder had come to trust Gohan more than any of his actual children. To an extent Gohan was the perfect son for Argo, despite Gohan’s Saiyan heritage. Elder Argo could see into Gohan’s very soul. He could foresee Gohan’s future, his true destiny. The son of Kakarot was the light in the darkness. He was the one and only hope this planet had in securing a peaceful future.

“Elder Argo!” A Namekian warrior raced toward the elder.

“Ah, yes, what is it Orin?” Argo questioned his pupil as he came closer.

“Master Flute and Locke have called for a summit of the village elders, it involves the encroaching darkness, it seems most everyone can sense it.” Orin explained after he gave his teacher a respectful bow. It was customary to show some sign of respect when greeting an elder, even if that elder was seen day to day.

“I am not surprised. Send word to Flute and Locke, I’ll be heading to the spire soon.” Argo said as he toiled with his walking stick.

“Understood honorable elder.” Orin said as he bowed. “What of Son Gohan? Will he be going with you, or shall I report that he’ll be absent?”

“Even I cannot answer that, simply tell them that I will be meeting with them and the other elders. Gohan’s stance is still in the dark.” Argo explained casually.

“Very well.” Orin said as he retreated from Argo’s presence.

So, I’m not the only one who has put so much faith in Gohan huh? Finally Flute and Locke have realized the value of outsiders. Gohan is the best chance we have of walking away from this with our planet intact. Although… Argo returned his gaze toward the sky. The elder’s pupils dilated slightly as he took notice of the spatial distortion beyond the clouds. The barrier that has been placed around our planet does protect us from the threat of Aisu. Without it we’d be lost between the invaders from the sky and from below. I’d say Sanosuke’s betrayal of Toshin was part of Gohan’s plan. A smile spread across Argo’s lips as he reflected on the possibility.

The expanding crack at the sea floor had grown into a massive underwater canyon. The billowing cloud of smoke increased in size and transformed into a tainted black mass. The emerald waters were starting to turn blood red as the infernal fires climbed from the canyon’s depths. Despite the fact that the flames were entrapped in water, they still burned as hot as an inferno. A little bit of sea water could hardly contain the flames of the underworld. Demons born of every bloodline started to crawl from expanding canyon, they howled with gargled laughter as they rose to the boiling surface. Their hideous bodies tainted the murky waters and expanded Asmodeus’ reach on the emerald planet.

“We’re finally free!” The first winged demon to break the surface howled as he broke from the expanding smokescreen. “So this is the air of the living realm, the sweet smell of life and food!” The demon continued to howl as he licked his jowls.

The black skinned creature was of the lowest of low in the ranks of Asmodeus’ cursed army. These fledging creatures were the first of the army to climb out of the depths. Their weakness, or rather their stupidity, gave them what they needed to be the first to escape and ironically the first to die.

“That’s right, you are free.” Gohan’s voice came from behind the joyous demon. “You’re free to die.” The son of Goku said as he called forth his sapphire aura. It flashed to life around his body illuminating his flesh and forcing the air around him spiral outward ominously.

The demon wheeled around as Gohan’s voice greeted it. “Oh, well what do have here? Are you my first meal!?” The creature questioned stupidly as it salivated. “Yes that’s what you must be! Now let me take a bite of your flesh!” The creature roared as its wing’s flapped twice before it sped toward the son of Goku.

Gohan snickered at the nearing demon, its speed was nothing compared to Gohan’s own. To Gohan it looked like the creature wasn’t even moving, a tortoise could out maneuver the approaching demon. Not wanting to drag things out Gohan went on the offensive. The man’s form vanished from sight and within the following instant he appeared above the demon, his left foot pressed into the demon’s back. Gohan gripped both of the creature’s wings with all the strength of a vice. A grin spread across Gohan’s face as he started to pull back on the demon’s wings. A scream of agony escaped the beast as the ligaments that held its wings to its back started to break and bend. With one fluid and solid tug Gohan relinquished the demon of its wings. Gohan tossed the demon’s wings aside and leapt off the beast’s back. While the demon fell and Gohan ascended, the warrior spawned his energy in the form of a spiraling sphere. The sphere rotated within his cocked back right arm.

“Say goodbye demon!” Gohan roared as he fired an energy wave from his right hand.

The sapphire wave of energy consumed the demon, turning his body into nothing but ash and cinder. Just like that, the freedom that the demon was so happy about had been stripped from him.

“Tch, this is going to get annoying pretty quickly.” Gohan said to himself as he looked toward the raging waters below. “But, what the hell is going on? Why are all these demons suddenly crossing over?” Gohan questioned the air as he continued to watch the sea below.

The hybrid couldn’t see any other demons breaking through the surface, but that didn’t mean there weren’t many more lying in wait. Not all servants of the underworld were as foolish as the one Gohan had just killed. The hybrid knew this first hand; he did work with an alliance of demons after all. If anything, Gohan knew more than anyone never to underestimate the beings that dwelled within the infernal depths.

“So you’ve finally come?” A voice that was all too familiar to Gohan travelled the airways. “I wondered if you would respond to the crisis right away, or if you would wait things out.” The voice continued.

Gohan’s eyes widened as his brain registered who the owner of this disembodied voice was. “You’re the sorcerer from before!? How, how in hell are you here!?” Gohan demanded.

“That my dear friend, that is a good question, one that I am willing to answer, but not now. You have more important things to deal with.” The Magus laughed as his tone drew Gohan’s attention to the raging waters below.

A foreboding shadow loomed beneath the water’s surface. Gohan’s eyes widened as the dark shadow grew larger with each passing second. A massive whale breached the surface, its mouth wide open. Before even the mighty Gohan could react the creature consumed him, closing its massive jaws around the Saiyan, swallowing him whole without a second thought. The hero of Namek had seemingly met his end before things could even begin.

“Should you escape the depths of the Great Leviathan, then, then you shall have your answer!” The Magus’ voice resonated in Gohan’s mind as he slid down the whale’s gullet, and into the unknown.

Chapter One: Death’s Wake

-4-

The Legion Mobilizes

The dark forces from the infernal abyss were far from the control of the Cursed Legion. The remaining forces of Nishar had nothing to do with the invasion currently taking place, and were forced to take action. Kizura had hoped the darkness Gohan and Daikon encountered in the ruins would never surface, but that hope was a foolish and pointless one. The Magus that Gohan let slip through his fingers had figured out a way around the spells of old and was prepared to wage war. Kizura and his band of demons had no choice but to act in the defense of the emerald sphere. If they didn’t the planet would be lost and the Dragonballs with it.

“We need to get to that gateway!” Kizura commanded his comrades as they left the safety of their headquarters.

“How exactly do you intend for us to close it?” Damian asked as he folded his arms over his chest.

“Wyndara will be in charge of that. She will use her power to examine whatever spell is keeping that doorway open and then she will find a way to close it for good.” Kizura barked. The demon still didn’t like Damian’s snarky attitude, but for now Damian’s help was needed. The demon had inherited the power of Toshin and that made him a formidable ally, despite his abundant arrogance.

“Mother, will you really be able to do such a thing?” Mania asked as she stepped out from behind her lover.

Wyndara raised a brow; her daughter’s doubt bothered her to say the least. “Of course, do you take me for some kind of invalid!? Toshin may be dead but my power hasn’t decreased in the slightest!” Wyndara retorted as her wings spread outward. A cursed violet aura spawned around the demoness as she called upon the dark arts. Wyndara lived to prove those who doubted her wrong.

Kizura shook his head as he stepped past Wyndara and the others. The demoness’ expanding power didn’t bother the swordsman in the slightest. Her power was meager compared to his own, it only served to amuse him. However, her knowledge of the mystic arts made her valuable. The demon looked unto the blackened horizon. White lightning crackled through the black clouds as the booming sound of thunder reached the squad of demons. The roaring thunder contained the cursed power of the rising demon horde. The deep sea portal was still growing and lesser demons were still pouring from its gaping maw.

“Enough talk, it is time we make our move.” The demon bent his knees in preparation to take flight. His white aura sparked to life around his body as he called upon his sleeping energy. The three demons under his command nodded in response and followed his movements. In unison the demonic quartet took flight and blasted off toward the field of darkness.

While The Cursed Legion mobilized, the summit of elders gathered. The people of Namek needed to prepare themselves for the coming battle. Their warriors would need to join the battle before it spread across the globe. Gohan had already been lost and The Cursed Legion had only just moved out. Plus there was no telling just who, or what, would crawl out of the abyss after the fledglings made their escape.

The elders filed into a grand hall, located at the base of the great spire. The hall was used for special occasions such as this. A meeting of the elders was a rare occurrence, and at the last one it was decreed that more warrior class Nameks would be born and trained. Now the warriors that had been bred to fight off the armies of Frost and Titan, would need to their attention to an ancient evil that resided beneath their very feet.

“It seems everyone has made it.” Flute said as his eyes scanned the room. There were a total of twelve elders gathered around the great table. Originally there were thirteen; however Elder Barot’s death eliminated a member of from the elder’s ranks. Barot’s betrayal was known by all, but spoken of by none.

“As you all know an ancient evil has awoken and is starting to take hold of our planet.” Flute explained as he set his hands upon the table top. “I believe it is best that we act as quickly as possible, and send our warriors into the fray.” Flute declared as his eyes scanned the room for anyone that would oppose his idea.

The elders traded looks as well as thoughts, not many of them were confident in the strength of their people. Not when faced with such an ancient and terrible evil. Sending them off into what would certainly be their own demise worried them. However, if they chose to leave everything to Gohan and The Cursed Legion, they had a greater chance being wiped out. The only logical choice was to send what warriors they could to the frontlines. At least this way when everything was said and done, the people would at least claim that they got involved in the conflict. They would have a stake in the world that may be born from the ashes of the old.

“We agree to your proposal Flute.” Elder Argo spoke for the group, as he always did. “However, what we need more than anything is information. How did this even happen?” Argo questioned.

A sigh escaped Flute as he looked toward his brother, who simply nodded giving him the approval to answer. “When Gohan and Daikon retrieved the Two Star Dragonball, they awoke the sleeping Magus. Gohan decided to show the Magus mercy rather than killing him, of course normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but something changed when Gohan and Daikon entered the ruins. Their residual energy did something to the atmosphere down there.” Flute explained as his expression became grave.

“I think when Gohan’s future-self awoke a tear was created between the old world and this one. The Magus used that tear to make contact with The Ancient One.” Flute gulped at the mention of this Ancient One. “And through that contact he became as powerful as he is now, and was able to bring forth the second coming of darkness. The spells of old are nothing but child’s play to him now.” Flute explained.

“The…Ancient One.” Argo repeated as he looked toward is elder brethren. “That’s not possible, he wasn’t just defeated by Elder Guru, but by the Kaioshin as well. There’s no way he was able to survive!” Argo exclaimed, breaking from his usual calm and collected composure.

“I thought the same thing.” Flute pulled away from the table. “But I’ve ventured into that blackness, I’ve seen it. The Magus has taken on the name of Asmodeus, the name of The Ancient One’s emissary. That is not a name one simply takes on, there’s no doubt in my mind that blasted mage made contact with him.” Flute balled his hands into fists angrily.

“Then…Gohan really may not be enough to stop all of this.” Argo mused as he diverted his gaze toward the white table.

“No, there’s still a chance.” Flute turned away from the elders and looked toward his brother, Locke. “If Gohan comes to the spire, my brother and I can awaken his hidden potential. Then and only then will he be able to rid us of this darkness once and for all.”

“Well then, we’d better get into contact with him as soon as possible.” Argo said as he pulled himself from his seat.

The elders still had hope. They still had a way toward victory. If they could make that hope into a reality everything would be alright. The cursed darkness would be thwarted and the planet would be free from its cursed stranglehold. However, this plan of theirs was much easier said than done. After all, Gohan still had to find a way out of the whale’s stomach and that would be no simple task.

Chapter Two: The Belly of The Beast

-1-

Unknown Perils

A sickening smell greeted the barely conscious son of Kakarot. The aura of death pervaded the moist and fleshy world he’d unwillingly been drawn into. Guttural sounds hit the young man’s eardrums as his eyes slowly opened, his vision was blurred however. A groan escaped the hybrid as his muscles started to respond to the commands of his cortex. A series of shallow breaths left the half-breed as he dug his hands and knees into the fleshy ground. Gohan’s breaths deepened as he started to climb to his feet. The deathly atmosphere fought hard to keep the hybrid down, however he proved to be beyond the atmosphere’s realm of strength. A final exasperated breath left the son of Kakarot as he stood up and returned to standing fully erect. Gohan’s blurred vision started to clear as he stretched his arms and legs. The Saiyan cracked his knuckles and his neck as he started to regain control of his dulled senses. It had yet to hit the hybrid that he’d just been swallowed whole by some cursed creature. Still Gohan was alive, and that was all that mattered.

Alright so where the hell am I? Gohan thought as his vision was fully restored. Wait a second… Gohan’s thoughts trailed off. He eyed the pink fleshy walls that were lined with some kind of green mucous. Hmm Gohan mused as he reached out to touch the slime-like substance.

Gohan’s better judgment told him to move away from it, yet his curiosity got the better of him. The hybrid pressed his bare palm against the slime and the instant he did a searing pain surged through his entire body. Yelling out in pain the half-breed pulled his hand away from the wall; his flesh sizzled and turned red. That was when the memories leading up to this very moment came back to the half-breed. He’d been swallowed whole by an out of control whale, one that had been consumed by the cursed power of the Magus. A profanity escaped the son of Goku as the sound of running water reached him. Stomach acid began to flood the chamber Gohan had been dropped in. Gohan’s white aura spawned around his body as he started to levitate. He narrowly avoided having his feet swept up in the acid.

“Alright, time to find a way out of here!” Gohan exclaimed as he took aim at one of the mucous laden walls. Particles of sapphire energy started to collect before Gohan’s extended palm. The energy released a distinctive hum as it cultivated and birthed a glowing sphere. “Hope you don’t mind a little indigestion!” Gohan howled as he unleashed a wave of energy from his palms.

The wave of energy burrowed through the fleshy wall and burst through it with relative ease. Acting quickly the hybrid flew through the hole. Just as Gohan passed through the hole was sealed shut. Thus preventing the whale’s stomach acid from leaking out, and coming into contact with other parts of the whale’s body.

“Well that was…interesting.” Gohan breathed a sigh of relief as he touched down on the pathway beneath him. “Alright, where the hell am I now?” Gohan said to himself as he started to scan the area. Anatomy was anything but Gohan’s greatest subject, especially when it came to the anatomy of alien whales transformed by the power the underworld. “Blasting my way out of here doesn’t seem like it will be possible either, so there’s only three ways out of here…one of which isn’t going to happen.” Gohan shuddered at the thought of taking the rear exit.

Being ejected into the sea with whale excrement was beyond disgraceful. No warrior with even the smallest sense of pride would allow themselves to go out like that. The only options available to the hybrid were through the way he came in, or through the whale’s blow hole. Little did Gohan know his inability to escape with brute force would work out to his benefit. There was a Dragonball lodged within the heart of the beast and that was what really made this creature as fearsome as it was.

While Gohan ventured through the depths Kizura, Wyndara, Damian and Mania arrived at the battlefield. The fledging demons continued to pour out from the expanding canyon, and had blackened the sky with their cursed bodies. The infernal beasts howled with glee as they breathed the air of the planet, despite its freshness it was far more pleasant than that of the otherworld. The living world’s peace was refreshing; however the fledglings were already growing tired of it. They wanted every living being on this planet to understand the infernal pains of the underworld.

“Alright, bottleneck the portal don’t let these fools spread!” Kizura commanded his subordinates before he darted into the spiraling black horde.

     “Right!” Everyone shouted in unison.

Kizura was the first to make contact with the horde. He ripped through their ranks with ease. The demon’s ivory blade quickly became tainted by the purple plasma of his slain kin. However, each death widened Kizura’s devious grin. Slaying his brethren had a twisted effect upon the scientist turned soldier. He enjoyed the thrill of battle and chaos; it was a new sensation to him. One could argue that Kizura had spent far too much time with Gohan, the Saiyan who’d taught him what it meant to be a warrior as well as a strategist.

“Mania, it’s time for you to release your true form!” Damian called out to his lover as he narrowly avoided being impaled.

“Understood!” Mania’s voice shifted from that of a calm school girl, to one of a darker, more an insidious being.

A crimson aura surrounded the daughter of Wyndara as her clothing ignited and started to turn to ash and cinder. Mania’s pink hair spiked and flared outward, a pain staked cry escaped her as her power level climbed and her true power escaped. Mania’s muscles bulged as the last of clothing left her, revealing her naked body to the world. However, Mania’s didn’t remain in her birthday suit for long. A thick black bio-armor oozed out from her pores and hardened over her flesh. A groan of ecstasy escaped the demoness as her armor took its proper place. The whites of Mania’s eyes became as black as the deepest void and her irises became a sinister yellow. Lastly Mania’s hair became an ominous vermillion and grew in length. It stopped short at the middle of her back. A grin spread across Mania’s face as she tightened her right hand into a fist.

“Yes finally, I get to come out and play.” Mania licked her lips as a blade descended from her right gauntlet. The gem at the top of her glove glowed brightly as Mania’s power stabilized; she was now just as strong as her beloved Damian. “Now it’s time to rip these maggots apart!” Mania roared.

The transformed demoness blasted off into the fray, just before reaching her first victim she ripped through the sound barrier. A cone of wind formed around her as she accelerated and extended her right arm. Mania’s blade sliced through the throat of her first victim, a gargled cry escaped the demon as its vessel was destroyed. A hellacious laugh escaped Mania as she began to collect energy in left hand. Mania’s digits collapsed upon the particles of red energy as she took aim at a flock of winged demons. Mania’s grin widened just before she unleashed her trademark technique, Cero. The all-consuming energy wave ripped through the enemy ranks like they were nothing. Every enemy that came into contact with the expanding Cero was torn asunder, leaving nothing but ashes.

“Wow, I’ll never get used to seeing her produce that much power.” Damian said to himself as he watched his partner tear through enemy after enemy. Her strength was beyond respectable; she had the power to match the greatest of demons.

     Ting!

“Hey, quit gawking at my daughter and get to killing!” Wyndara roared as she blocked an enemy blade that threatened to cut Damian from behind. “Don’t become a disgrace to your father!” Wyndara barked a she stabbed her freehand through the low-class demon’s exposed torso. The creature’s blood coated her left hand as she ripped out its heart.

“Right.” Damian snickered as he drew his blade. “My mistake, how about we team up and deal with the idiots down here?” The son of Toshin suggested as he and Wyndara moved into a back to back position.

“It doesn’t look like we have much choice. We’re surrounded after all.” Wyndara sighed as her eyes scanned the horde that had encircled them.

The battle between The Cursed Legion and Asmodeus’ infernal army had only just begun. For now the Nisharian warriors seemed to have the upper hand, but of course that couldn’t last forever. Asmodeus still had more powerful warriors at his beckon and call; these demons were simply the lowest of the low. They were to be considered nothing more than cannon fodder. Once they were dealt with the true enemy would reveal itself, and the true battle would commence.

Chapter Two: The Belly of The Beast

-2-

The Plot Thickens

As the world above was torn asunder Asmodeus walked into the grand hall of his personal chambers. The sorcerer of old had managed to create a palace for himself, a place for his cursed army to be housed as they were sent out to do his bidding.

“I have returned my lord.” Asmodeus said as he walked through the grand hall. The Magus was armed with a new, even more powerful scepter, one that made his old one look like an ordinary staff. “As you suggested I was able to bring Sheeva under our control, she’ll be of great benefit to our forces.” Asmodeus stepped before a massive gateway. Scarlet threads of energy bound the two pillars together and created a spiraling vortex. At the heart of that vortex was a shadowed humanoid figure, its unique features were veiled in that mysterious darkness.

“Good, you’ve done well my servant.” A voice as deep and as dark as space itself echoed throughout the chamber. “You will indeed be the herald of a new age, you’ve surpassed my expectations already my dear Asmodeus.” The dark one hissed with a distinctive pleasure.

The Ancient One’s sickening aura pervaded the grand hall. Shadowed hands climbed the walls and consumed the chamber. The cursed shadow was unable to cross into the physical realm, but its dark power was still able to slip through the gateway. Asmodeus fed on his dark lord’s infinite power; it made him leagues stronger than he could have ever been. Joining hands with the Ancient One was perhaps the best decision the Magus could’ve possibly made. Without the Dark One’s help none of Asmodeus’ plans could’ve come to fruition. Of course, selling one’s soul to the proverbial devil was never a good idea, the Magus could live with the consequences. The price was well worth the reward.

“What of Gohan? Has he arrived on the battlefield yet?” The Ancient One asked.

“Yes, however he’s currently trapped within the Great Leviathan, it will be sometime until he’s broken free and joined the battle. By then his allies will be dead and our generals will have risen to the fore.” Asmodeus explained confidently.

“Interesting, it seems you’ve planned everything out. Soon I will be able to walk the earth once again and conquer the mortal realm.” The Dark One howled with laughter as his dark visage started to recede. “Go forth and conquer my dear Asmodeus.” With that the Ancient One faded into obscurity, leaving the sorcerer to his own devices.

Asmodeus turned away from the altar and started walking toward the chamber exit. It was time to meet with his generals, their time would soon come. This war was one that the sorcerer had always wanted to see with his own eyes. Even though he’d given his soul over to the Dark One, Asmodeus felt nothing but joy. The power that flowed through his veins was immeasurable, far greater than the power Gohan produced in their last encounter. Part of him wanted nothing more than to face Gohan again. Having this demonic power at his fingertips made him confident, but not overconfident like before. If anything it tamed the Magus’ confidence and made him sane and logical, more so than he could’ve possibly been in the past. It was an interesting concept.

“Ah, so the master has finally decided to join us.” One of the generals said as Asmodeus walked into the briefing room. “The lesser demon horde is starting to dwindle; it seems The Cursed Legion has done well for itself.” The armor clad general said as he leaned back in his seat and folded his arms over his chest.

“Always so impatient, aren’t you Azazel?” The other male general sighed as his left hand fell upon the blade sheathed in his waistband.

“Well of course he is Kuromaru.” A demoness spoke up as she eyed the two generals.

Asmodeus shook his head as his generals bickered both verbally and with their unspoken glances. The sorcerer had chosen these four not because of their ability to work together, but for their formidable stature and power. Sheeva, Vesper, Kuromaru and Azazel were all of Gohan’s caliber in terms of strength and that was all that mattered. Asmodeus knew better than anyone that this planet’s greatest and most powerful hope was Son Gohan. The Super Saiyan’s power was insane, it was something to be gawked at and praised. However, Asmodeus needed to end him. Gohan was a problem, a problem for all who gathered before the altar of darkness.

“Now, now that’s enough.” Asmodeus said as he took his seat. The room quieted as Asmodeus took his seat. “The four of you will soon take to the surface world and destroy our enemies. We will crush Son Gohan once and for all and then we will take this planet for ourselves.” Asmodeus said with a smug expression as he interlaced his fingers and leaned back in his seat. “Which of you would like to be the first to take on Gohan’s friends? Or should I send all of you up above?”

The four generals traded looks; they all wanted to enter the fray. After a moment Sheeva spoke, “We will all go forth together. There are four members of the legion, one for each of us to slaughter.” Sheeva said with a devious grin.

“Yes, I think that is a grand idea.” Azazel said.

“What a drag, you’re all far too impatient. If you want to make this event as glorious as you’ve claimed. Savor the moment, weaken them bit by bit, and then crush them with force.” Kuromaru advised as he scanned the room.

“Savor the moment you say?” Asmodeus raised a brow as his left hand fell upon the table top, while his right remained under his chin. “Interesting proposal, in that case you four won’t be going forth next.” Asmodeus said as he wrapped is knuckles against the table top. “Instead we’ll call forth an old friend; he will be the first of their gauntlet. We’ll see if The Cursed Legion can handle the force of the resurrected Belial.” The mage cackled.

Chapter Two: The Belly of The Beast

-3-

The Anti-Body

The Namekian summit had come to an end, a decision had been made. Now it was time for the people to get moving and put things in motion. The warriors Namek from each village had been mobilized and were prepared for war. Something they never thought they’d actually have to partake in. At first people started to consider taking the path of the deceased Elder Barot. By using the power of fusion a new warrior could be born, one who would have the power to vanquish the darkness. However, becoming one collective mind would taint the people of Namek. There was no doubt that they would become the very things they sought to destroy. So for now, their one and only option was to join the fray and take back their planet before it was truly lost to them.

“Let’s hope Gohan’s allies are really as tough as Master Flute said.” One of the warriors said to his brother as he and the rest of his squad took to the skies.

Moving in military formations and fighting with a pack mentality, wasn’t something the emerald warriors were used to. Their people had never been the best at war; even the Super Nameks had their limits when it came to raising an army. This whole concept was foreign to them. The only thing the warriors of Namek had been doing was growing stronger and honing their skills. They’d failed to actually develop tactics and methods when it came to all-out warfare. Their combination attacks would be sloppy and perhaps even uncoordinated. However, being cannon-fodder was better than being nothing at all. Even if they could slightly turn the tide of battle it was worth it. This planet was theirs and theirs alone. No infernal scourge from Hell would be allowed to claim it for themselves; not while the people of Namek yet lived. The inhabitants of the emerald sphere would fight unto their dying breath in order to defend their homeland.

“From what I heard Gohan has been trapped within the belly of some beast, shouldn’t we try and find it and free him?” One Namek said to another.

[indent ]“Elder Argo said that Gohan would find his own way out. Besides we cannot sense this beast, trying to find it would be pointless. We should go where we are needed. The Super Saiyan can take care of himself.” Another Namek responded. He seemed to be the leader of the squad of ten.

“Understood.” They all said one after another. Each warrior spoke with more disappointment than their predecessor. They didn’t want to go head long into the unknown, but they had no other choice. The planet needed them to be strong.

While the warriors embarked, Gohan continued to venture through the inside of his consumer. There was danger at every turn, however Gohan managed to survive. The hybrid was starting to gain some sense of understanding; his ignorance toward anatomy was starting to decrease. The more time he spent poking around within his captor, the more he started to piece things together. In order to reach the blow hole of the Great Leviathan he needed to travel through the beast’s chest cavity. However, that was much easier said than done. There was someone, or rather something that appeared before Gohan’s path. A beast that existed within the Great Leviathan, one that devoured disease, this beast existed within all things. However, within the cursed whale, this beast gained true power and physical form. It simply became known as the Anti-Body.

     Crack!

A set of knuckles collided with Gohan’s face sending him straight into a fleshy wall at the other end of the chamber. A groan escaped the hybrid as he pulled himself from his fleshy entrapment. The force of the strike was far greater than Gohan had anticipated, however the amount of pain the strike brought him wasn’t even a blip on the young man’s radar. When Gohan touched down on the chamber floor he crackled his knuckles in preparation for battle.

“Not bad creature, but tell me…What the hell are you?” Gohan raised a brow as he eyed the muscular creature.

The beast hissed as its elongated tongue traced its ebony fangs. “I am your death; I am the creature who guards the Great Leviathan.” The red eyed monster barked as salvia dripped from its tongue. “I am the great one’s white blood cells given life and brought together into one unstoppable force!” The overpowered anti-body howled as white tendrils sprouted from its back.

“…I was just knocked across the room…by an oversized white blood cell?” Gohan shook his head, he didn’t hide the fact he was disturbed by the fact he was fighting his captor’s immune system. “So, how the heck is all this happening? You can’t mean that all whales of Namek have creatures like you inside them…”

The creature snickered at Gohan’s questions as it inched forward. “The Great Leviathan is no whale! He’s a beast fueled by the power of the One Star Dragonball and is a servant of the great Asmodeus!” The anti-body declared. It was clear that he worshipped both his host and the sorcerer who had spawned them.

“Asmodeus?” Gohan repeated. “So that bastard has taken up a name huh?” Gohan returned his attention to his new found foe. “Alright, well once I defeat you I’ll be taking this creature’s Dragonball and leaving.” The son of Kakarot let his aura form around his body as he spread his legs spread shoulder width apart. Gohan’s hands rolled into fists as his muscles bulged and his power level went on the rise. “Now then let’s get started!” The hybrid declared before he darted toward his new foe.

“Yes, let us begin!” The anti-body shouted as he broke into a mad-dash.

Gohan and the white creature collided in a flurry of punches, knees and elbows. Each blow resulted in a thundering boom and a burst of plasmatic sparks. The inhuman beast struck with all the force of a locomotive, its power was impressive to say the least. With each passing second Gohan and the creature’s power levels grew, it had been quite a bit of time since the two had, had something of a challenge. Both warriors started to defy gravity as they continued to try and knock one another out of the fight. Their flurry of mutual strikes came to a sudden end when the two roared out in unison and rammed their forearms into one another.

“Well you’re not half bad.” Gohan grinned as he locked eyes with his monstrous opponent.

“Of course, my power is derived from Lord Asmodeus, the Great Leviathan and the One Star Dragonball!” The beast hissed as his tongue slithered from his jagged maw.

“That’s quite the well of power, let’s see if it is enough to take on an Ascended Super Saiyan!” Gohan exclaimed as he and the anti-body broke away from one another and descended toward the ground.

“I’ve heard of your Super Saiyan power.” The mutated blood cell spat. “I have nothing to fear of your power; I have faith in my master’s strength as well as my own!” The beast howled as his tendrils thickened and shot toward him.

The hybrid’s eyes widened as the tendrils sped toward him. Using his agility to his advantage the hybrid weaved between the tendrils, narrowly avoiding being pierced in various locations. For a moment it appeared the son of Goku had a sixth sense, but it was anything but that. Gohan was simply gifted and well versed in the art of combat.

As the last tendril passed overhead, Gohan reached out and grabbed it. Acting as quickly as his body would allow, the hybrid yanked on the beast’s tendril and reeled him in, lifting the anti-body off its feet. As the beast neared Gohan cocked back his right fist and slid his left foot forward. With a roared the hybrid sent his fist forward, and allowed it to crash straight into the dead center of the anti-body’s face. A pained cry escaped the alien creature as blood was ejected from its nose and mouth. The anti-body was sent tumbling across the chamber and only came to a stop when it collided with the other side of the wall. The instant the beast collided Gohan raised his left hand, taking aim at the immobile beast. Particles of orange energy began to come together before Gohan’s extended palm. The hybrid’s aura exploded around his body and went from white to sky blue.

“Let’s see if you can survive this!” Gohan roared just as he unleashed the energy wave.

The blue energy wave drove itself into the screaming anti-body, until the beast was blown through the chamber wall and forced into another, much bigger chamber. Steadily Gohan lowered his arm and slowly walked through the newly formed hole. A repeated thumping sound greeted Gohan’s ears as he stepped through the threshold. Slowly Gohan turned his attention toward the source of that repeated thumping.

“What…in the hell!?” Gohan’s eyes widened. Above him was a giant heart, and buried beneath within its surface was the One Star Dragonball. Not only did it feed the Great Leviathan, it kept him alive. The beast’s heart pumped the Dragonball’s mystical power throughout its body. “That thing really wasn’t kidding; there is a Dragonball in here…” Gohan felt the need to state the obvious.

“You bastard!” The anti-body roared as he jumped to his feet. “I will crush you! I will suck on your marrow and consume your flesh! Saiyan you will die here and now!” The angered mutant roared as his muscles bulged and he increased in physical size and stature. The anti-body’s crimson eyes resonated with the beating heart above them. The Dragonball lodged within the life managing muscle glowed as it also resonated with the raging anti-body below.

“Well it looks like I don’t have the luxury of remaining in my base form.” Gohan sighed as he dropped into a combat stance.

Within an instant Gohan became consumed by a golden aura. The warrior’s jet black hair became the trademark Super Saiyan gold, and his eyes became a fearsome emerald. Gohan’s mastery over the Super Saiyan transformation was unmatched, and with each passing day that mastery expanded. If things became more intense however, the son of Kakarot still had another option available to him, he could take things to the next level.

I probably won’t need to get out of here through the blowhole, instead I’ll take the Dragonball from the beast’s heart and blast my way out. Gohan thought as he eyed the Dragonball lodged in the heart above. Looks like I’ll be hitting two birds with one stone. The hybrid grinned as he returned his attention to the raging anti-body across from him. Both warriors had increased greatly in power; both had thrown down the gauntlet. The warm up was over, now it was time to fight to death and bring an end to it all.

Chapter Three: The Demon Lord’s Return

-1-

You Thought I Was Dead?

The last of the lesser demon horde had finally been vanquished; Kizura, Wyndara, Mania and Damian had done their job. Although, they all knew that this was far from over. These lesser demons weren’t the most fearsome part of Asmodeus’ army. They may’ve been the greatest in number, but they were the weakest in stature. Defeating them was all too easy and all too expected. Now the question was what would Asmodeus send next? It was unknown if the next challenge would be greater than the power of the demonic quartet, or if it would be another challenge to be easily stamped out. Whatever the case the four demons were ready, they’d gathered on the only island that remained in the vicinity. Their eyes were trained on the gateway; Wyndara was more focused than the rest. It was the demoness’ job to close to gateway, or at least to gain some sort of understanding of it.

“This…this can’t be right…” Wyndara said under her breath. The runic seals that’d spawned the gateway were revealed to her mind’s eye. “There’s only one being powerful enough to create such a spell, and he was sealed away at the beginning of time.” Wyndara’s voice was riddled with shock and awe. The demoness’ flesh crawled as fear started to take hold over her body and soul. “Kizura…the Ancient One…he’s causing all of this. This is his spell.” Wyndara spoke up as she called out to her new lord.

“The Ancient One? That’s impossible he was sealed away by the gods of old! Nothing could’ve broken through the sealed gateway between him and the rest of the universe!” Kizura roared as he paced toward Wyndara. “Toshin, Raishin and even Leo confirmed that he was sealed away for good!” Kizura barked.

“Well I don’t know how, but his knowledge and power has spread. The sorcerer Gohan came into contact with in the ruins has acquired the Ancient One’s black magic. The only way to seal this portal and put an end to this is to defeat the caster…” Wyndara let a troubled expression cross her face as her arms dropped weakly by her sides.

“Damn it!” Kizura broke from his usual composure as he turned away from Wyndara. “This battle just got even more complicated.” The demon clenched his fists angrily. “We have no choice but to stand here and stay on guard, the only one with the power to defeat him isn’t here. So we wait until he arrives, and until then we survive!” Kizura barked his orders as he called forth his blade.

This new information perturbed the swordsman, the revival of the Ancient One beyond complicated things. The battle wouldn’t end here, that much was for sure. The defeat of Asmodeus would only postpone the Ancient One’s return. New alliances would need to be forged in order to take down their new enemy. Sanosuke would need to be brought back into the fold, and the others would need to be kept alive. The plan for betrayal had to be put on hold.

“Is that fear that I smell?” A dark and foreboding voice filled the blackened heavens. “You’ve finally come to understand all of this is futile, haven’t you?” The voice questioned as red lightning crackled through the sky. A putrid energy filled the air as the atmosphere pressure increased. The ground beneath the demon quartet’s feet tremble as pieces of it broke away from the surface. The breaking pieces of earth defied gravity; they were suspended by some unknown force.

“That voice…it cannot be?!” Damian’s eyes widened as he looked toward the raging heavens. “But this power I’m sensing…it can only belong to him.” The son of Toshin gripped the handled of his sheathed blade. Sweat began to form along Damian’s brow, he knew better than anyone what was about to descend upon them. “Kizura, we’re going to need that back up right now.” Damian said as he slowly turned toward his comrade.

“Shit…” Kizura mused. “Belial, its Belial isn’t it?” The demon clenched his teeth as a crimson light consumed the heavens.

“Yes, it is I.” The owner of the voice began to descend from the shining heavens. His body was wreathed in the infernal flames of the underworld. “Belial, the conqueror of the fire hell!” The demon roared as his flaming halberd cut through the darkness that loomed overhead. Once again the emerald sky reigned over the lands; however its peaceful nature didn’t match the mood set by Belial and the gateway beneath the sea.

“Cell and I destroyed you! There’s no way you’re still alive!” Damian shouted as he drew his blade.

“You’re right, the two of you did defeat me.” Belial chuckled as he touched down on the island. “However, I was restored by those with a far greater level of wisdom than you and your petty comrades.” Belial said as his tail slithered about behind him. “The Ancient One and Asmodeus promised me true power and they’ve given me a taste of that power. I’m sure you’ve noticed this new body of mine.” The former demon lord unfurled his flame wreathed wings as he spoke.

“Tch, your power level may’ve increased, but we’ll still take you down.” Damian grinned as he crushed his initial fear. “You’re not the only one who has grown stronger since our last meeting!” The demon roared as his malformed right hand released a brilliant sapphire light.

The ground beneath Damian’s feet trembled before caving and creating an ever growing crater. The son of Toshin continued to roar as a pulsating sapphire aura exploded around his body. The visage of an ancient demon appeared behind Damian. It wielded a demon blade forged in the shape of a Japanese Sword. Damian’s eyes became blood red and released a vermillion light as his transformation peaked.

“Oh my, it looks like you have grown stronger indeed.” Belial chuckled mockingly. “Still, without your bio-android friend you’re nothing compared to me.” The demon lord laughed as he took hold of his weapon with both of his hands. The flames that licked his flesh intensified and started to gather around the blades of his halberd.

“It’s true that Cell isn’t here, but I still have my comrades and we’ve got cavalry on the way.” Damian directed Belial’s attention toward the flashes of light behind them. The Namekian warriors were on the horizon and were prepared to do battle.

“Cavalry?” Belial laughed at the idea. “You think those mortal slugs have what it takes to stop me? To help you maggots?” Belial howled with mocking laughter. “You’re all fools; you will all bath in the fires of the underworld!” The demon lord raised his weapon overhead as he made his proclamation.

“Wyndara, put up a barrier now!” Kizura roared, he foresaw what was to come and it wasn’t pretty.

Wyndara did what was asked of her, no questions asked. The instant she worked her magic and put up a barrier around her and her comrades, the base of Belial’s weapon connected with the Earth. The expanding wave of fiery energy consumed the entire island, entrapping it in a fire laden barrier. All of the faith Damian had put into the so called cavalry had been drained away, Belial’s barrier was impossible to break through. At least, it was impossible for the meager warriors of Namek. For now this battle would be between those standing on the island.

“Now then, how about we settle this between ourselves?” Belial suggested with a devious grin. The demon loved being in control of the situation, it made him feel even more powerful than he already was. The demon lord was just as much of a psychological terror as he was a physical one.

“Tch, son of bitch.” Kizura mumbled as he turned to see the Namekian cavalry stop dead in its tracks. It was obvious that coming into direct contact with the barrier would result in death. “We really could’ve used those warriors in this fight.” The demon sighed as he returned his attention to the smirking Belial. If the Namekians had been able to join the fray, it would’ve been thirty-four against one, those odds were clearly better than the current situation.

“Now then, shall we begin?” Belial questioned rhetorically.

“With pleasure!” Mania was the first to attack. The demoness howled as she raced toward the fiery demon lord.

“Dammit! Don’t fly off the handle!” Damian shouted to his lover before he too broke into a mad dash. If Mania attacked alone there was no doubt that she would meet her end.

“The children are always the impatient ones.” Kizura grumbled as his black aura started to seep out of his pores, and enshroud his body. “Wyndara play the role of support, use your magic to attack from a distance while covering our blind spots.”

“Already on it.” The demoness said as her hands clasped together and a runic circle appeared beneath her.

While Kizura and Wyndara prepared to join the action, Mania and Damian began trading blows with the lord of the underworld. Their synchronized attacks seemed to force Belial to go on defense. The massive weapon he wielded wasn’t suited for such close range combat. Neither demon gave Belial the chance to swing his death dealing weapon. Should Belial be given that chance, there was no doubt that he’d bring an end to both warriors’ lives. It was a delicate game the two lovers were playing, but it was necessary in order to acquire victory.

“Not bad Damian.” Belial pointed out as he blocked a slash aimed at his right shoulder. “You and this woman have a greater sense of teamwork than you and that Cell creature ever did.” Belial gave his foe a legitimate compliment.

“Heh, you haven’t seen anything yet Belial.” Damian grinned as his blade grinded into Belial’s weapon.

     “Cero!”

Mania appeared behind Belial and unleashed her all-consuming energy wave unto the demon’s back. A cry of pain escaped the resurrected demon lord as the attack grinded into his back and lifted him off his feet. Before things got out of hand the son of Toshin flipped over his opponent, and allowed him to be taken by Mania’s Cero. Belial’s pained cry grew louder just before he collided with a rock formation on the other end of the island. Dust and debris kicked up as the site collapsed on itself, entrapping the fiery conqueror of hell. Grinning, Damian touched down behind his lover. The two said nothing; they both knew Belial was far from defeated. If anything, they’d only served to piss the demon off. Still, their job right now was simply to buy time.

“Impressive.” Belial’s voice emanated from his insufficient prison. “Most impressive actually.” The demon’s voice continued to stem from within the rocky tomb. “But, neither of you are strong enough to defeat me!” Belial roared as the debris was blown away by the demon’s expanding aura. The white hot flames that licked his charred flesh scorched the land beneath his feet. “Children, allow me to show you a real attack.” The demon grinned as he raised his left hand toward the demon duo across from. Streams of white hot fire started to pool before Belial’s extended palm. Those fiery streams came together to form a growing sphere of fire laden energy.

“Blaze Ball.” Belial mutter before the flaming sphere exploded forth, ripping through the ground as it careened toward its targets.

     Boom!

Belial’s attack collided with some unknown force, sending a torrent of dust and debris across the battlefield. Damian and Mania were robbed from Belial’s line of sight. Curious the demon lord lowered his arm and cocked his head to the side. Someone, or something, had intercepted his attack and rendered it useless. Very few had the power to stop Belial’s infamous Blaze Ball, so of course Belial was intrigued by this turn of events.

“You know Belial, you forgot that I’ve been Toshin’s second in command for eons.” Kizura’s voice stemmed from the dissipating dust cloud. “Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t get that position just for my brains and knowledge of the universe.” As Kizura spoke he cut through the smokescreen, revealing that he and the two behind him were unharmed.

“To think that my suspicions about you were correct. Well at least this won’t be as easy as I’d thought it would be. Perhaps I really will be able to test these new found powers of mine.” The demon lord said as a pleased grin spread across his lips.

“Heh, I’ll do more than test your new power…” Kizura raised his blade and kept his eyes trained on Belial. “Trust me. I’ll push you to your limits and beyond.” The demon taunted as white sparks crackled through his reforming black aura. Unlike the others Kizura didn’t have a fancy transformation. Instead he drew upon the fast well of power he’d created over thousands of years.

Chapter Three: The Demon Lord’s Return

-2-

A Makaioshin is Born

     Ting!

Kizura’s blade met with the broadside of Belial’s halberd, plasmatic sparks danced off the two weapons as they grinded into one another. Neither warrior feared their weapons breaking from the repeated force of their swings. Instead the two combatants focused on breaking through one another’s defenses in order to land one clean hit. However, that wasn’t going very well for either of them. Kizura’s power level had climbed just enough to match Belial’s own. The two were fighting toe to toe, the only way an opening would present itself was if one of them screwed up, and there was no sign of that happening anytime soon. Even with the added help of Wyndara, Damian and Mania, Kizura still couldn’t break through and vanquish the fiery demon. Belial was just too skilled.

Dammit, I don’t even think he’ll will tire out! Kizura thought as he narrowly avoided decapitation. We might actually need Sanosuke’s help to finish him. I’m not sure how long my body will be able to handle the strain of this power increase. The demon thought as he avoided being sliced once again. Still I have to keep buying time, Gohan will be here soon, he’ll be able to tear through that barrier. Kizura hoped as his blade prevented him from being impaled. Acting quickly the swordsman spun off the forward driving Halberd and flipped over Belial, narrowly avoiding the horns protruding from his head.

“Take this!” Damian roared as he took advantage of the exposed demon.

Yelling out Damian delivered a powerful side kick into Belial’s left shoulder. The demon lord stumbled, but kept himself from falling over. Mania followed behind her lover and appeared before the stumbling demon. Grinning, the crimson haired vixen rammed her armored knee into Belial’s face. The demon’s head whipped back as blood was forced from his nostrils. As the demon stumbled backward Kizura spun around and pressed his free hand against the small of the demon’s back. Kizura’s aura exploded around his body as he gathered his energy, focusing it into a single point. While Kizura gathered his energy, Mania and Damian leapt away from the vicinity as they knew what was to come.

“You little shit!” Belial roared as he balanced himself and prepared to make a counterattack.

“Restrict!” Wyndara exclaimed as a runic prism appeared beneath Belial’s feet. Just as the command suggested, the prism prevented Belial from making any other moves.

“Goodbye!” Kizura roared as he unleashed a massive burst of energy unto Belial’s body.

The black and white energy wave consumed the entirety of Belial’s being. The former demon lord released a scream of agonizing pain. He was lifted off his feet and taken over by the expanding energy wave. Kizura’s attack, and Belial by association, collided with the other end of the barrier. Upon impact the entire barrier trembled, for a moment it looked like the barrier was ready collapse. However after a couple tremors it stabilized and held strong. Dust and debris swept over the scene, and it appeared that the band of demons had taken down Belial. But, that hope was short-lived. The mere fact that the barrier remained in place was proof enough that Belial was still breathing.

“Even after all that, the bastard is still alive!?” Mania questioned as the demon quartet regrouped.

“He’s far stronger than when I fought him, but if we continue to work together we might be able to wear him down enough to where this barrier won’t be an issue.” Damian said as he eyed the still functioning barricade.

“I’ve already analyzed the barrier, the only options we have are to kill him, or to force him to take it down. We couldn’t destroy it even if we all attacked it together. The amount of force it would take to destroy it is far too great for us to produce.” Wyndara explained. Her tone said that she didn’t like admitting her own weakness, but it was the reality of their situation. They were locked in and would have to fight Belial until the bitter end.

“We cannot worry about that right now. We just need to survive, and to continue to attack in succession. We can’t give him the chance to single one of us out.” Kizura whispered.

“The four of you are quite amusing.” Belial voices resonated from within the dying shroud of dust. “You devised a way to attack me without being killed by me.” The demon said as he stepped forth and out from the veil of dust. “However, it is all meaningless. Kizura you put far too much energy into that last attack, I can sense your power decreasing, while mine has remained unmoved.” Belial sighed as he twirled his halberd overhead.

Dammit, he’s right, I’ll take me a few minutes to gather that much power again. He’s not going to give me that much time either. Kizura clenched his teeth angrily as he weighed his options.

“Now then, which of you should I kill first?” Belial questioned his enemies. None of them spoke up; instead they dropped into defensive positions. “No volunteers? Then I guess I’ll have to pick for myself.” The servant of Asmodeus grinned as he took a step forward.

Belial vanished from sight, despite his massive size he moved at impossible speeds. Of the quartet Kizura was the only one who could comprehend Belial’s speed. However, this time the demon couldn’t follow Belial’s movements. The death dealer appeared before Mania and before it even registered that he’d reappeared, Belial drove his left hand through Mania’s sternum. With one swift pull, the demon lord ripped Mania’s heart from her chest. The demoness’ crimson blood shot out from her newly formed wound. Blood formed at the corners of her lips as she fell to her knees. Death was quick and painless.

“Well Damian, it seems your mate was the first to meet her end.” Belial cackled as his fiery digits collapsed around Mania’s heart, causing the removed organ to explode into tiny pieces.

Damian’s eyes grew wide with both shock and anger, the woman he loved above all else had been robbed from him before his very eyes. At first Damian wanted to breakdown and let the tears he was holding back flow, however his rage surpassed his grief.

“Belial!” Damian roared as his aura exploded around his body and the ground beneath his boot clad feet caved. “I’m going to end you here and now!” Damian roared as the demonic visage that hovered behind him wrapped its arms around Damian.

The son of Toshin continued to scream in horror and anger as the blue spirit became a blood red and started to bind itself to Damian’s very flesh. Gale force winds were sent out in every direction as Damian’s power level climbed. Belial and the others in the vicinity were forced to shield themselves from the winds that slammed into their bodies with all the force of a speeding school bus. Damian’s hair spiked up as the solidifying spirit took over the entirety of Damian’s flesh. The son of Toshin had tapped into the demonic power sleeping within him. As the son of a Makaioshin, Damian had the ability to tap into that very same well of strength that made Toshin as legendary as he was. The death of Mania gave Damian the drive and the strength to dive head first into that well, without thinking twice.

Crush him, break his bones, rob him of his soul and consume his very flesh. A dark voice called to the raging son of Toshin. It resonated deep within his psyche and pushed him to complete his transformation. Yes! That’s it Damian! Awaken your true power! The voice commanded as Damian’s aura continued to expand.

One final yell escaped Damian before a blinding orange light consumed the entire island. When that light dimmed the transformed Damian was revealed to all. His flesh had become bonded with some sort of bio-armor. A glowing yellow light stemmed from his malformed chest. His blade had been transformed into a much bigger and foreboding one. The teen’s face became that of an older, much wiser demon’s. The hybrid had taken on the form of a true demon warrior; he could no longer pass for a weak and feeble human. Like his father before him, Damian had ascended to the level of Makaioshin, he’d become a true demon lord.

“That form…” Belial mused as he eyed the transformed Damian. “To think…the death of this wench was enough to bring out the power of your father.” Belial laughed as he let the bits of Mania’s heart that remained his palm fall toward the ground.

Without wasting his breath Damian kicked off the ground and launched himself toward Belial. Within an instant the transformed son of Toshin closed the distance between himself and his enemy. Damian howled angrily as he slammed the flat side of his blade into Belial’s well-armored body. Instantly Belial was lifted off his feet and sent flying toward the northern end of the island. Damian didn’t skip a beat and gave chase to his enemy. The transformed demon caught up to the accelerating Belial with little effort. Howling once again Damian slammed his left heel into Belial’s stomach, sending him back first into the unforgiving terra firma. Damian continued to grind his heel into Belial’s stomach after the initial impact. Salvia tainted with blood was forced from the demon’s mouth as Damian repeatedly stomped Belial’s torso.

Kizura and Wyndara watched in pure shock as Damian unloaded on Belial, neither of them expected to see Damian’s power increase so drastically. Mania was Wyndara’s daughter and the demoness’ power didn’t increase in the slightest after seeing her daughter slain. However, for Damian it did nothing but increase both his power and his focus. Even though Damian had given into his rage and sorrow, he knew exactly what he was doing and what he wanted out of all this.

“He’s truly acquired his father’s power…” Wyndara forced herself to speak as she fell to her knees.

“Yes, he’s grown stronger than both of us in an instant.” Kizura said as he continued to watch Damian unleash his unyielding rage upon Belial. “The only question is... will this really be enough?” The demon said as he looked toward Mania’s fading corpse.

The daughter of Wyndara was starting to turn to dust; her body was a faux one after all. It had been created in order to contain her vast demonic power and nothing more. Without her heart to keep everything together, her body was returning to being nothing but ash and cinder.

“It will be enough, Mania won’t have died in vain.” Wyndara said weakly. The demoness never showed it, but she loved her daughter just as any mother would. “I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure we end this battle here and now.” Wyndara’s expression hardened as her hands slowly came together; it was time for her to bring out her most powerful incantation.

Chapter Three: The Demon Lord’s Return

-3-

The Horror’s End

The thirty warriors gathered outside the barrier watched in shock and awe, the power released by Damian was beyond impressive. Each and every Namek could feel the Makaioshin’s power; it caused their skin to crawl and the hairs on the backs of their necks to stand. Damian’s power rivaled that of Son Gohan’s. Everyone knew it, and that fact gave them hope. Until Gohan freed himself from his underwater captor Damian was their greatest weapon. However, one had to ask. How long could Damian control himself? The rage that burned within him was starting to consume him. His focus was on Belial and Belial alone. His comrades had become nothing but collateral damage in the continuing battle. Damian had no longer had any regard for their safety. No matter what the cost, the son of Toshin was going to make Belial pay for what he did to his beloved Mania. The demoness didn’t deserve a death such as that, hell she didn’t deserve to die at all. Mania was the only one who grounded the son of Toshin, without her he had no desire to live and to lead a life of relative peace. Now all the Makaioshin wanted was to see the world decorated in the organs of those he’d slaughtered. The devil wanted the blood of his enemies to become the rain and soak the land. Soon Damian would completely lose himself to his desires, and he too would become an enemy of Kizura’s new found cause.

“I will destroy you!” Damian howled as he sliced through Belial’s recently released Blaze Ball. “Your attacks mean nothing to me now!” The hybrid roared as he walked through the flames of destruction. Damian glowered at his disturbed foe. “Now then, prepare to die!” The son of Toshin broke into a mad dash as he brought his blade overhead.

Belial cursed in some foreign tongue as he braced himself for Damian’s strike. Avoiding the son of Toshin was impossible, the demon’s speed and increased four times over. The former demon lord did his best to track Damian’s movements, and was able to block Damian’s overhead swing. The impact from Damian’s weapon resulted in a resounding shockwave that tore through the lands around them. Rock formations crumbled and the earth beneath their feet caved and bowled outward, creating yet another crater on the island’s surface.

“Their power…it’s unreal.” One of the Nameks said as he dropped his arms in shock. “How would we have competed with a creature such as that in the first place!?” The Namek continued to speak in his shock laden tone.

“Calm yourself brother, we cannot afford to let the odds of this battle overwhelm us. For now the Makaioshin is on our side. The Magus has yet to call forth more of his forces, so for now all we can do is stand back and wait for our turn to fight.” The presumed leader of the warrior company said, in an attempt to quell everyone’s fears.

The Namekians were right to be afraid of the battle they’d soon be dragged into. The demons of Asmodeus’ army knew naught what mercy was, they would tear them limb from limb. Courage and a strong will would be necessary for these warriors to make through it all. If the warriors had arrived when the lesser demons were coming through the gateway their confidence wouldn’t have dwindled as much. The lesser demons were even weaker than the weakest of warriors Nameks. The demons would’ve fallen within minutes. However, lady fate decided that it was not their duty to eliminate the lesser demons. No, their calling was to a much more important battle. One that would be even more catastrophic than the battle with Belial, but then that shouldn’t have been too surprising. The Cursed Legion, and the rest of Namek’s defense force, still needed to take on Asmodeus’ four generals. Hopefully by that time Gohan would’ve been freed from the belly of the beast.

“What are we to do now?” Wyndara questioned Kizura; she was still channeling her energy in preparation for some sort of long distance attack. “If he continues to fight like this, I won’t be able to cast the spell without dragging him into the line of fire.” Wyndara explained. There was a clear sense of urgency in her voice.

“We’ll just have to risk it, if we get too close Damian could turn his rage on us.” Kizura snickered as he continued to watch the battle. “Hopefully everything will work out, but if not I’ll strike the final blow on Belial and end this.”

“Alright then, I’ll unleash it.” Wyndara said as she pulled her hands away from one another and brought her eyes to a close. A sickening purple aura seeped out from Wyndara’s flesh and started to coil around her body. A distinct hissing sound was released from her aura as it danced about her frame. “Awaken, sleeping crest of stability.” Wyndara mumbled as she raised her left hand toward the heavens. The entire island began to shake as it fell under Wyndara’s spell. “I call upon that which hides in earth and darkness, that which has no end, nor a beginning.” The demoness continued her incantation as the severity of the tremors increased. “Shuu Madra…” Wyndara brought her other hand overhead to greet her already raised one. “Come forth!” Wyndara’s eyes shot open as she forcibly brought her clasped hand downward, stopping them just before they fell below her sternum. “Reaper’s Coil!” Wyndara roared as the earth beneath Belial’s feet split open.

Chains from the underworld came up from the expanding hole and wrapped themselves around Belial’s body and limbs. The ebony chains became consumed by the black flames of the goddess Amaterasu. Belial released a pained cry as his muscles seized and his own flames were snuffed out. The demon’s entire body became racked with an indescribable pain. The hellish chains sucked away his power and forced him to endure the searing nature of Lady Amaterasu’s flames. No matter Belial’s strength and stature he couldn’t withstand the power of the unholy sun goddess.

“Now Damian! End it right now!” Kizura roared.

“I didn’t need you to tell me that.” Damian muttered as his blade became wreathed in a black, white and red energy. Damian’s muscles bulged as he pushed every ounce of his power into his transformed blade. “Say goodbye once and for all!” Damian roared before he broke from his position.

The Makaioshin drove his blade forward, allowing it pierce through the dead center of Belial’s body. All of energy that Damian had poured into his blade exploded outward consuming the entirety of Belial’s body. Every fiber of the resurrected demon lord’s body was obliterated. Unlike before, Damian made sure that Belial’s mind, body and soul was eradicated. Even with the power of the Ancient One, Belial could never be restored again. He was destroyed for good. The chains that once bound him receded into the gaping hole. As the last of the chains descended into darkness the hole sealed itself. The fiery barrier that Belial had put around the island faded, proving that Belial had indeed been destroyed. Wyndara, Kizura and Damian were victorious.

“Finally, it’s over.” Damian muttered as he fell to his knees. “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you Mania…” The Makaioshin fell on his face and slipped into the realm of unconsciousness. The bio-armor that had spawned around his form dispersed in a rain of red particles. The son of Toshin had reverted to his original, more human, form.

“We’re going to need to get him out of here.” Kizura said to Wyndara as the two raced toward their unconscious comrade. “He’s going to be out of commission for a while, unless of course you can heal him.”

“No, that incantation took a lot of energy out of me, I won’t be able to use even the most basic of spells for a little while.”

“Great, so we still have to take on the guy who started all of this, but the two of you are pretty much out of the picture…” Kizura sighed as he and Wyndara reached their unconscious ally.

While Kizura and Wyndara knelt beside their comrade, the Namekian cavalry touched down on the war torn island. With Damian out of commission they knew that they were essentially screwed. There was no way that the demon horde didn’t have more warriors of Belial’s caliber at their disposal. That very thought instilled fear in the weakest of the thirty warriors, yet they couldn’t let that fear see the light of day. They’d trained for decades in order to defend their planet, now was the time to put all that training to use. They had no choice in the matter really.

“I’m Orgo, we were sent by the Elder Summit.” The leader of the Namekian force introduced himself to Kizura and Wyndara. “I am sorry that we couldn’t make it here sooner.” Orgo gave his new allies a respectful bow, his eyes revealed his condolences for their loss.

“Better late than never.” Kizura said with a half-smile as he turned toward Orgo. “Tell me Orgo; are there any healers with you? Getting Damian back on his feet before more demons arrive would be best.”

“Our healers did not come with us, however I can have a couple of my brothers take Damian to them.”

Kizura glanced toward the Namekians gathered on the island. “That’s fine, but you should probably send the weakest of your brothers, at least they won’t die in vain on the battlefield.” Kizura said bluntly. He, as well as everyone else, knew that there was a high probability that only a hand full of these warriors would survive the bloodshed.

“Very well.” Orgo sighed as he turned toward his brethren. “Duo, Sion.” Orgo called out to two Nameks in the crowd. “I need you to take this one to the spire, have him healed so that he can rejoin the battle.” The Namek commanded his weaker kin.

“Yes sir, we’ll do as you asked.” Sion responded. He did his best not to breathe a blatant sigh of relief. However, the expression on his face made it clear he was overjoyed by the fact he was one of the ones selected.

“Wyndara.” Kizura turned toward his fellow demon. “You should take this opportunity to rest and meditate. All we can do now is wait for our enemies to make their move.”

“Already on it.” Wyndara stepped past Kizura and moved to a less populated space. The demoness took a deep breath as she seated herself on the scorched soil. The woman of the underworld rested her hands in her lap and let her eyes draw to a close. Slowly, but surely, the daughterless demon receded into the realm of her inner-self.

“Any word on what’s happened to Gohan?” Kizura asked Orgo.

“All we know is that he is trapped within the Great Leviathan. Elder Argo said that he’s still alive; however we’re unable to track down the beast and free him. So for now we’re simply to hold out until Gohan frees himself. Once he’s done that Master Flute and Locke have agreed to awaken his true power. Then, and only then, will he be strong enough to face the one responsible for all this…”

     “Heh, so it is true…”

“What’s true?” Orgo asked as a puzzled expression crossed his face.

“The Ancient One has made his return. I hoped that seal would never see so much as a crack, but all we can do is get the crack sealed. Thankfully he never quite got a foothold on this planet, else the seal would’ve completely been broken and the forces of the Dark Dimension would be running rampant.” Kizura explained solemnly.

“It’s too bad this calm won’t last forever.” Orgo said under his breath as he crossed his arms over his chest. None of them knew who, or what, Asmodeus would call forth to challenge them next. Whatever it was going to be, there was no doubt it would be just as difficult to defeat as Belial was.

Chapter Four: Freedom

-1-

The One Star Dragonball

Gohan’s battle with the fearsome anti-body had gone on for what felt like days on end. Slowly but surely, the son of Kakarot was beginning to tire. Gohan’s muscles ached and sweat dripped from his brow. However, Gohan wasn’t the only one who was being victimized by fatigue. The anti-body was starting to lose its connection with the Dragonball lodged in the heart above them. Their destruction bringing clash started to damage the beast’s massive heart. The Dragonball that was lodged in the life continuing muscle was starting to loosen; soon it would fall to chamber floor. The Super Saiyan wouldn’t need to waste time ripping the ball from the beast’s heart, if the battle kept going at this level ofintensity that is.

     Kyah!

Gohan’s trademarked Kiaiho collided with the anti-body’s frame, sending the beast flying across the chamber. The hybrid wasted no time and gave chase to his out of control foe. Gohan’s golden aura burned around his body as he accelerated and drew out more of his power. Even though the battle was growing more and more intense with each passing second, the hybrid kept himself from ascending. The Super Saiyan appeared above his pain ridden foe, a thin smile formed on Gohan’s lips as he looked into the anti-body’s crimson spheres. Before the beast could regain control, Gohan slammed his fist into the warrior’s body. A pained gack escaped the immune system birthed monster, as it was sent rocketing toward the chamber floor. Just before the beast made impact he flipped onto his stomach and met the fleshy ground with his hands and knees. The anti-body’s limbs absorbed the impact and sent a tingling sensation through his nervous system. Bodily fluids splashed around the mutated blood cell as the impact reverberated throughout the chamber.

The anti-body quickly stood up and sought out his attacker, however Gohan had vanished from sight. Growling the creature crouched down as tendrils sprouted from its back. The creature’s senses were on high alert. Suddenly Gohan appeared to the beast’s right; his fist was cocked back in preparation to strike. Howling, the anti-body let its tendrils speed toward Gohan’s midsection. The four tendrils pierced Gohan’s frame, however there was no blood. The anti-body only managed to pierce Gohan’s after image. The real son of Kakarot appeared at the white skinned beast’s unprotected flank. With a roar Gohan rammed his left fist into the side of the beast’s face, forcing it to stumble awkwardly. Gohan didn’t end his assault there either. The Super Saiyan unloaded a barrage of punches into the creature’s body. Each strike was faster and more powerful than the last. Gohan was aiming to bring all of this to its final end.

“Eat this!” Gohan roared as he slammed his knee into the beast’s abdominals. The creature double over in agony, the oxygen it had collected in its lungs was forced into the outside world. “This was fun, but I have more important things to do than to deal with the likes of you!” Gohan proclaimed as he unleashed another succession of punches into the creature’s body. Finally Gohan pressed his bare palm against the creature’s sternum. Mass amount of energy gathered before Gohan’s palm. The distinctive hum of energy bounced off the chamber walls as Gohan focused his energy into his palm.

“Goodbye!” Gohan roared before he unleashed a massive wave of energy unto the creature’s body.

The beast screamed out as its body was overtaken by the force of Gohan’s energy wave. Bit by bit the creature was disintegrated and turned to nothing but ash and cinder. Gohan’ energy wave continued to travel forward, and drove into the Great Leviathan’s chest cavity. After a few moments it burst clean through the beast’s flesh and bone. The heart above Gohan beat rapidly as the integrity of the fleshy threads that held it in place were compromised. Slowly Gohan lowered his arm and the energy wave dissipated. The Super Saiyan directed his attention toward the heart above him, its pace quickened as blood started to enter the chamber. The Dragonball’s mystical energy no longer afforded the mutated whale the ability of regeneration. Acknowledging that the world was going to come crashing down around him, Gohan slightly bent his knees and prepared to take flight.

“I’ll have to take it to the next level to bust my way out of here.” The hybrid said to himself as he balled his hands into fists.

With a grunt Gohan pushed past the first level of Super Saiyan. His aura suddenly became erratic and violent, blue sparks of bio-electric energy crackled through his aura and his hair spiked even more. The look in Gohan’s eyes became that of a true Saiyan Warrior. Not wanting to waste any more time Gohan pushed off the blood laden flesh beneath him and accelerated toward the heart above him. The Super Saiyan extended his left hand and kept his eyes on the prize so to speak. Clenching his teeth in anticipation, Gohan reached out and took hold of the Dragonball. Without the slightest bit of resistance the son of Goku removed the Dragonball from its fleshy prison and continued on his upward path. Gohan pushed both of his arms out in front of him and continued to pump out more and more of his energy. The hybrid burst through the top of the chest cavity, his aura repelled the bone fragments and the blood that would’ve coated his body. The sound of contorting flesh and snapping bone turned Gohan’s stomach, but this was necessary to free himself from his captor.

There! Gohan thought as he broke through the final layer of whale flesh and returned to the outside world.

The hybrid held his breath as he became surrounded by the tainted ocean. The Ascended Super Saiyan broke free of the water’s surface with a resounding boom. The emerald water shot upward as if it were being driven by the force of a geyser. Gohan continued to climb toward the heavens until he completely cleared the geyser he’d created. Labored breathes escaped the hybrid as he came a halt. The fresh air that now filled his lungs revitalized him. Bursting free of the hellish beast and returning to the natural was a relief to say the least. However, the whole whale adventure wasn’t pointless. Gohan found one of the two remaining Dragonballs, he just needed one more and then their wishes could be made.

“Alright, now that I’m finally out of that thing I need to figure out what the hell is going on.” Gohan said to himself as he scanned the horizon. The hybrid was a long way from the actual war and conflict. The whale had brought him to practically the other side of the planet. “This was probably part of Asmodeus’ plan, but I should be able to contact Kizura now.” The hybrid continued to talk to himself as he sought signs of life.

Kizura! Kizura can you hear me! Gohan tried to reach out to his comrade with his thoughts. Usually the demon kept his mind open to connection with the hybrid; however Gohan’s inability to use telepathy unaided made it hard for him to make contact. It didn’t help that Gohan had no idea where Kizura was either. Kizura? Gohan tried to call out to his comrade once again, but there was no answer.

“Dammit, I guess I’ll have to try and find him the old fashioned way. Tch, to think that all of this could’ve been avoided if I kept my scouter.” Gohan laughed to himself.

Before Gohan could blast off into the unknown a voice unfamiliar to him resonated within his mind. Ah, it seems you’re every bit as skilled as Elder Argo said you were. The disembodied voice said with a clear sense of pleasure.

Who…who are you? Gohan asked as he raised a brow in confusion.

You and I haven’t met, but I am Locke one of the two guardians of this planet. My brother and I have been watching you and your allies since you’ve arrived here. We know that you’re destined to become a force for good, and we also need your help in order to stop this new evil. Locke explained as he introduced himself.

Wait, you two need my help in order to stop someone like Asmodeus?

Not Asmodeus exactly, we need your help with defeating the one who is really causing all of this. He’s an ancient being we simply call the Ancient One, he’s also known as the Dark One. In order for you to have enough power to vanquish his forces, you’ll need to have your potential awakened. Flute explained.

Elder Argo mentioned going to see you in order to have my potential unlocked. That was going to be my plan after I got the rest of the Dragonballs, but I guess things have changed. Gohan laughed weakly as he folded his arms over his chest.

Indeed they have my friend. I will guide you to our location. Your friends and my fellow warriors desperately need your help, the next wave of enemies is on its way… Flute said solemnly.

Gohan’s expression hardened, he didn’t to see those he’d been entrusted with protecting lose their home.

Alright, I’m on my way! Gohan proclaimed as his aura exploded around his body.

Gohan blasted off into the distance, his aura trailed behind him like jet exhaust as he accelerated. The hybrid wasn’t concerned about being tracked by any stray demons, all he wanted was to meet with Flute and have his true power awakened. Without it, this planet would be lost and Gohan would fail in his appointed duty.

Chapter Four: Freedom

-2-

The Next Battle Begins

“So, was this all a part of your plan, Kuromaru?” Asmodeus questioned his general as he and the others turned away from the viewing screen. They had watched the epic battle with Belial unfold, but even without their visual aids they could sense the flow of the battle. Damian had grown into quite the powerful warrior; however, he was out of commission. Belial had also managed to take the life of Mania, a threat to be sure. This idea of savoring the moment was quite appealing and undoubtedly beneficial.

“Of course it was sire, now we can travel to the surface.” Kuromaru said casually as he removed himself from his seat. “The two greatest threats have been weakened and Gohan has yet to arrive on the battlefield. There should be enough time for us to wipe them all out before the son of Kakarot arrives.” Kuromaru explained to Asmodeus and his general brethren. Kuromaru was indeed the brightest of the four generals; he was a tactician by nature. The demon hailed from a clan of shadow warriors who knew how to do battle while hidden within the darkness. Their strength lied in their ability to mentally destroy the opponents, before they physically harmed them.

“Very well then, you may travel to the surface. Let’s see if you’re all as powerful as you claimed to be.” Asmodeus laughed as he folded his arms over his chest.

With every second that passed Asmodeus grew stronger, he constantly absorbed the dark power released by his master. Staying hidden within the fortress was the best option for the mage. Once the four generals fell, Asmodeus would rise to claim their souls and do battle with their killer. Sadly for the generals, Asmodeus’ faith in them was miniscule at best; he only desired to use them for their power. They weren’t privy to the Dark One’s true plans, nor were they aware of their placement as being expendable. Kuromaru may’ve been well versed in the art of manipulation, but Asmodeus was a true master of the skill. It was the only he had going for him before he joined forces with the Dark One.

The four generals did as they were commanded and left the briefing room. Sheeva was the last to leave, and before she passed through the threshold she shot a glance toward Asmodeus. The four armed titan could see through Asmodeus’ ploy. Yet she decided to continue going forward. The bearer of the Three Star Dragonball had a countermeasure of her own, one that was superior to Asmodeus’ own. Sheeva knew exactly how to manipulate the mystic properties of the Dragonball embedded in her flesh. Asmodeus’ had grown blind to the power of the Dragonballs; too much of his focus had been placed upon the power of darkness. It blinded him to the true nature of Sheeva’s power, and his blindness would undoubtedly result in his downfall.

While the generals moved out, Kizura and his Namekian allies continued to stand on guard. Flute and Locke had informed them of Gohan’s recently attained freedom, but that didn’t mean they were out of the woods just yet. The son of Kakarot was still on the other side of the planet and needed to make it over to the great spire. No one could be sure how long the unlocking process would take either. So, even though Gohan was free and moving about the planet, Kizura and the Nameks couldn’t rest easy. Besides, if they placed every ounce of their hope in Gohan, what did that say about them? They needed to have some semblance of confidence and courage if they were put a dent in the coming challengers.

“Wyndara should recover some of her energy soon.” Kizura said to Orgo, as he motioned toward the meditating demoness.

Her aura continued to permeate her flesh, it coiled around her slender frame as it drew in the natural energies around her. Even though Wyndara used dark magic, she still needed to draw in energies from those around her. The elements fueled her power, and allowed her to reach deeper into the infernal pit in order to produce more powerful spells. What Wyndara lacked in physical might, she made up for in the area of mysticism. Her ability to bind the great conqueror of hell was proof of her skill and usefulness. Once again she proved that she was worthy of standing by the deceased Toshin’s side. Her power was formidable and was to be nothing short of valued. It was a shame that eventually Kizura would have no choice but to betray her.
“Good. As much as I hate dark magic such as hers, it will serve us well on this battlefield.” Orgo said as he eyed Wyndara. A part of him didn’t want to trust the demoness, but he knew he had no other option. If he went into battle distrusting the mistress, they’d all perish. They would only survive if they worked together and trusted one another completely.

“Don’t worry Orgo, we have no plans on betraying any of you. Gohan wouldn’t forgive us if we made some stupid move such as that.” Kizura picked up on Orgo’s caution. “Besides, working with someone like Asmodeus, or the Dark One, really wouldn’t benefit us. What they want is far from what we’re after.” The demon said with a half-smile, as he rested his hand upon Orgo’s shoulder.

The Namek raised a brow, “What exactly are you people after?”

“We simply want to restore our lost kingdom.” Kizura lied. “We intend to use the Dragonballs to wish Nishar into this realm as its own planet. It would be a safe haven for our people and would be an anchor for them to exist in the living realm.” Kizura explained the gist of Toshin’s plan. “Even though our leader was slain, we still plan to carry out his objective.” The demon wrapped up his lie with a seemingly legitimate smile.

“Interesting. Well if Elder Argo trusts that your plan is just I won’t interfere.” The Namek smiled weakly. Allowing demons to have an anchor in the mortal realm sounded like trouble, but it wasn’t Orgo’s place to get involved. Orgo was a warrior after all. He wasn’t one to venture into the world of mysticism and otherworldly politics. He simply lived to protect his brethren from those that were deemed threats to the Namekian way of life.

“Well, it seems the time for idle chit-chat is over.” Kizura turned away from Orgo. “They’re coming.” Kizura said under his breath as he watched the waters boil.

Right on cue the surface of the water exploded outward, and from the expanding geyser appeared four warriors. Each one appeared as dark and foreboding as the last. Two were of the male gender and two were of the female gender. However, all four of them were born of demon blood. The men were the first to touch down on the hard ground. Both of them brandished their blades as their eyes scanned the army they were about to attack. Azazel, the demon adorned in a weathered blue armor was the first to speak and break the awkward silence.

“So we finally meet face to face.” The demon said as he licked his lips in anticipation. “We saw your battle with Belial, and that my friend, was quite impressive.” The demon pointed his blade toward Kizura specifically. “However the loss of your Makaioshin ally, and the death of your foolish friend, severely weakened your forces.” Azazel laughed mockingly. “Do you think you’ll be able to take on all four of us without suffering anymore causalities?” As Azazel taunted his opponents, Sheeva and Vesper touched down on the ground behind the two men. Like the others they scanned the battlefield, sizing up their opponents.

Kizura ignored Azazel’s taunts, instead he focused on Sheeva. The demon’s eyes widened from behind his battle visor. She has a Dragonball! Perfect if we can take her out we’ll get even closer to completing our plan. Kizura thought as he slowly moved into a ready stance. These four demons could attack at any moment. Gohan you’d better get your ass moving, I have a feeling we’re going to lose quite a few comrades in this battle. The demon thought as he drew his blade.

“Oh, not going to entertain any conversation my dear Kizura? Very well, we’ll just cut right to the bloodshed!” Azazel howled just as he broke from his standing position.

The armored demon was aiming for Kizura and Kizura alone. Cursing the crimson haired warrior moved to greet his attacker. Their blades collided in a rain of orange sparks. The two weapons grinded against one another as the two demons tried to outdo one another. While the two swordsmen clashed Orgo ordered his twenty-seven brethren to engage the enemy. The warriors broke from their positions and charged the enemy; they abandoned their fears and their doubts. This wasn’t the time, nor was it the place, to succumb to such draining emotions. Every ounce of their mental and physical power needed to be directed toward the battlefield.

Orgo collided with Kuromaru, the weakest of the four generals. The Namekian’s aura laden fists were more than a match for Kuromaru’s Masamune styled blade. The two broke through the sound barrier with each strike, and with each strike they moved across the battlefield. The remainder of the Namekian warriors went after Vesper and Sheeva.

“Allow me to deal with them Lady Sheeva.” Vesper said as she stepped past her comrade. “Incinerate.” Vesper whispered as she pointed her scepter toward incoming Namekian horde.

“Reject.” Wyndara responded as he eyes shot open. A golden light was emitted from the demoness’ eyes and a barrier was erected around Vesper and Sheeva. An explosion emanated from within the barrier. Whatever spell Vesper was trying to unleash had been turned back on her and Sheeva. “Vesper, it has been a long time since I’ve seen you.” Wyndara spat as she stood up. “I hope you’ve grown stronger, else you’re finished.” The demoness hissed as she prepared to unleash yet another spell.

“Pathetic.” Sheeva’s dark voice echoed from within the barrier. “Vesper, I won’t shield you for a second time.” Sheeva barked as she punched clean through the barrier. “If you want to win you will need to do much better than that witch.” Sheeva snickered at the demoness as she stepped forward, toward the advancing army. “I shall deal with these slugs; you deal with your fellow witch.” Sheeva commanded Vesper as one of her four arms slammed into the face of the Namekian nearest her.

“My apologies Lady Sheeva.” Vesper bowed to the warrior goddess before vanishing in a huff of smoke.

The tables had been set, everyone had their assigned targets. Sheeva was to deal with the twenty-seven Namek Warriors. Azazel was to do battle with his old nemesis, Kizura. Orgo was to take on the devious demon of the shadows, Kuromaru. Lastly, Wyndara had to do battle with her witch counterpart, Vesper. For now these match ups seemed perfectly fair, however one couldn’t forget that Kizura and Wyndara were already worn from battle. They’d suffered at the hands of Belial, and they’d far from recovered from that suffering. Still they had no choice but to press onward, the fate the planet depended upon their success here.

While the battle got underway Gohan reached his destination, the Great Spire. The Ascended Super Saiyan burned a great deal of his energy ripping through the Namekian skies, but he maintained his transformation the entire way. Gohan was well aware of the weight that had been placed upon his shoulders, and he refused to let those who counted on his strength down.

“Alright, I finally made it.” Gohan wheezed as he touched down on the spire’s surface.

The hybrid breathed a sigh of relief as he reverted to his regular form. There was no need to go walking into the chamber before him transformed. Plus, Gohan’s body needed to rest for a little while longer. He needed to be at full power when he joined the battle. Just as Gohan reached for the door leading into the building the door slid open, and before him stood the fully healed son of Toshin.

“So you’re finally here huh? Good, I can bring the news to the others when I leave here.” Damian grinned as he motioned for Gohan to enter.

“Damian? What happened? Why are you here?” Gohan said dumbfounded.

“I don’t have time to explain everything to you, but I needed to be healed after the battle with Belial.” The Makaioshin sighed, his mind started to wander toward Mania’s death. “That bastard took her from me Gohan, he took Mania. Even if you don’t get there in time to end it, I swear I’ll crush every last demon in my path. They’ll pay for reviving Belial.” Damian clenched his fists angrily as he resisted the urge to unleash his full power.

For a moment Gohan put aside his indifference toward Damian, “I understand the pain of your loss. Go give’em hell till I get there.” Gohan grinned as he put his hand on Damian’s shoulder.

“Heh, you know Gohan, you’re not half bad.” The demon stepped past Gohan. “I’ll do my best, you just get your training over with so we can put an end to all this.” Damian said as he stepped toward the edge of the spire.

     “Right.” The hybrid responded.

With that Damian took the skies, he was itching to return to the battlefield and lay waste to more of Asmodeus’ soldiers. Gohan watched Damian fly off into the distance before he turned his attention to the building he found himself in. The elders that populated the planet were gathered at a long table. The presumed Flute and Locke stood at the head of that table; they motioned for Gohan to come over to them.

“I am glad you’re safe Gohan.” Elder Argo said as the half-breed walked past him. “And I see you got another Dragonball.” The elder motioned toward the Dragonball in Gohan’s hand.

“Yeah, the thing that ate me had the Dragonball lodged in its heart. The Dragonball gave that thing far too much power, but I was still able to take it down.” Gohan informed the elders with a confident smile.

“That’s good that you were able to take it down, but now it’s time to prepare you for an even greater challenge.” Flute called for Gohan’s attention. The Namekian guardian was a bit on the burly side, and there was a scar spanning his over his right cheek. There was no doubt that the Namekian had seen many battles over the years. “Unlocking your hidden power won’t be a simple task; or rather we won’t be able to do it as quickly as we did for Damian.” Flute explained as Gohan walked over to him.

“It’s because you’re a great deal stronger than Damian is.” Locke said as he stepped beside his brother. “It’s actually going to take both of us to awaken your sleeping power, that’s something we haven’t needed to do in quite some time.”

“Well, if that’s what it’s going to take that’s fine. I just hope the others can hold out until the process is complete.”

“They should be fine, Damian’s power after the awakening is equal to your current level. That should be enough to match him with the four enemies they’re currently facing.” Locke said with a reassuring smile.

“Alright then, what are we waiting for? Let’s get started.”

Chapter Four: Freedom

-3-

The Wrath of Sheeva

The sound of breaking bones and tearing flesh resonated through the airways as the battle raged on. Of the four conflicts, Sheeva’s was the most brutal and wrought the most destruction. The four-armed demoness tore through the Namekian Warriors as if they were nothing; to her they were simple nuisances. Their combined might couldn’t even hold a candle to Sheeva’s immense power, the demoness was simply too strong. It didn’t help that the four-armed warrior was equipped with a Dragonball, one that she was overly familiar with. The mystic properties of the sacred sphere were under her complete control. One would think that a Namek would be able to undermine the power of a Dragonball, but this was not so. The warriors didn’t have a strong bond with the spheres of their people, only the elders or the sorcerers had the power to manipulate the Dragonballs on an individual level.

“Is this the best you scum can do!?” Sheeva roared as he rammed her fist through yet another Namekian’s body. “I haven’t even broken a sweat yet!” Sheeva exclaimed as she tossed aside her latest victim.

The worst part about all of this was that Sheeva was clearly holding back the brunt of her power, yet she was making short work of every warrior that came her way. The demoness even took to dismembering various warriors only to give them a chance to regenerate, and then she did it all over again. Sheeva got a sickening pleasure from repeating the process over and over. The multiple pools of blood that had formed at her feet were starting to converge upon one another, creating something boarding on being called a small pond. The carnage was just awful, not even the most experienced of warriors would be used to the smell of rotting flesh and collecting plasma. However, Sheeva lavished in it, she loved every second of it.

“You monster!” One of the warriors roared as he cruised toward the howling Sheeva. “I’ll make you pay for what you did to my brothers!” The Namek foolishly declared.

He’d completely succumbed to his rage. Common sense was no longer a part of the equation. The jade toned warrior sent a fist toward Sheeva’s face; however his strike never reached the intended target. One of Sheeva’s extra hands rose to greet the Namek’s fist. The foolish warrior tried to pull his hand from Sheeva’s grasp, but he failed. Thankfully for him, his comrades weren’t ready to let him perish. Four warriors came charging toward Sheeva, one at her left, one at her right, one from her rear and one from above. Snickering, the demoness hurled the warrior in hand toward the Namek above her. Sheeva then slammed her fists into the warrior at either flank, purposely ignoring the Namek at her rear. The warrior’s knee to her back felt like a feather grazing her skin. A laugh escaped Sheeva; these warriors’ powerlessness would never grow old.

“You’re all so eager to meet the same fate as your beloved comrades aren’t you?” Sheeva mused as she slowly turned around to greet her flustered attacker. “Well then, enough with the dismemberment. I’ll simply give you the deaths you desire.” Sheeva’s eyes shined with an ominous vermilion light.

Before the Namek could concoct some sort of panicked response, his breastbone was pierced by Sheeva’s upper left and right hands. Blood flowed from the Namek’s mouth and newly exposed chest cavity. Licking her lips with pleasure the demoness began to part her hands from one another. In one fluid movement Sheeva ripped the Namek in two, right down his center. Regeneration was impossible. Grinning, the murderous demon tossed aside the two halves of the Namekian carcass. The smell of blood and exposed organs intensified as the remains were left out like yesterday’s garbage. The fifteen remaining warriors simply looked on sheer horror. They’d never seen such a graphic and violent death before. Sheeva gave a new meaning to the phrase fatality.

“I guess what they say about Sheeva is true.” Azazel laughed as he glanced toward Sheeva’s side of the battlefield. “Even if you manage to defeat me Kizura, do you think that you and your friends can fare against an evil such as that?”

“She’s violent, I’ll give her that.” Kizura responded as his blade collided with Azazel’s own. “However, she’s not unstoppable.” The demon continued as he and Azazel engaged in a rapid succession of slashes and counter-slashes. Their blades flashed through the air as they continued to repel one another.

“Such confidence, you’ve really changed over the centuries haven’t you?” Azazel questioned earnestly.

“Indeed I have, but you’ve remained the same… an arrogant fool who is too afraid to walk his own path.” Kizura’s words had a potent amount of in them venom. They cut Azazel deeper than any blade.

“Too afraid to walk my own path you say?” Azazel kept his cool for a moment. “No, you were the one who backed out on me. You were the one who stopped me, no the both of us, from acquiring true power! I will never forgive you for abandoning our bond of strength! On this day I will show you that I chose the right path to power, even without your help!” Azazel proclaimed as his white aura exploded around his body and the atmospheric pressure around him increased. “Now be gone!” Azazel roared as he swung his blade in an outward arc and forced Kizura from their deadlock.

Shit! Maybe taunting him wasn’t the best of ideas! Kizura thought as he was sent rocketing toward the island below. I’ll have to use everything in order to win this! Kizura thought as his white and black aura started to seep from his flesh and enshroud his body.

Kizura came to a sudden and alarming stop just shy of the ground, his aura acted as a barrier between him and the earth. The demon’s aura began to expand as Kizura upped his energy output. The clouds that existed within the heavens were being pulled from the atmosphere and were being drawn in by Kizura’s flashing aura. Kizura’s roar grew louder by the second as his power level climbed.

“I’ll show you…” A dark glint formed in Kizura’s eyes, it was clearly visible through his tinted visor. “The power of the Final Kurotsuchi.” The demon said under his breath as his once erratic aura stabilized.

Before Azazel had time to question what was happening to his former friend, Kizura vanished. Within an instant the former servant of Toshin appeared before Azazel, his blade already position as if it had exited an outward arc. For a moment it appeared that Azazel was unharmed, but reality quickly set in. Azazel’s body split in two, his halves were consumed by a potent black energy that ate through his armor and flesh. The black aura erased Azazel’s entire existence without hesitation, within seconds there was no evidence to the fact that Azazel even existed.

“I’d wanted to save that for Sheeva, but you left me no choice.” Kizura whispered as he lost his ability to remain airborne.

His grip on his blade loosened and the weapon turned to dust particles. Kizura’s mind slipped into the realm of unconsciousness as he plummeted toward the battlefield below. For once, gravity was allowed to take possession of one such as Kizura. No one came to Kizura’s aid. Everyone was too preoccupied with their own battles, and with a resounding thud Kizura hit the unforgiving earth.

“Well then Wyndara, it looks like your friend has already fallen.” Vesper mocked her fellow demoness as she avoided being hit by an energy bolt.

“Kizura is far from finished.” Wyndara retorted as she fired off yet another bolt of mystic energy.

“Are you sure about that? I can sense his life force fading.” Vesper hissed as she goaded Wyndara into attacking once again.

“Tch, your mind games won’t work on me like they used to Vesper.”

“If that’s what you wish to tell yourself.”

While Vesper and Wyndara continued to trade witty remarks with one another, Orgo and Kuromaru’s battle carried on in the heavens. Despite the fact that Orgo lacked a blade of his own, he was easily able to counter his foe’s attacks. Orgo’s knowledge of battle, and his overall skill, was nothing short of impressive. The longer the fight dragged on the clearer it became that Orgo was going to come out on top. Kuromaru simply didn’t have the physical stature to keep up, on top of that the nature of the battle made Kuromaru’s brains pointless.

     Crack!

Orgo’s fist tore through Kuromaru’s defenses as if they were nothing. The demon general was sent rocketing toward Sheeva and her prey. Not wanting to give Kuromaru a chance to recover Orgo aimed his palm toward the out of control demon. Orange particles of energy cultivated around the Namek’s palm as he prepared to unleash an energy wave. The distinctive hum of forming energy resonated along the airways just before Kuromaru unleashed his attack. The orange wave energy exploded forth and picked up speed as it cut through the air.

“I, I will not die!” Kuromaru declared as he brought his armored forearm to his defense.

Orgo’s energy wave slammed into the general’s arm and made short work of his armor. The entrapped general collided with the Sheeva and the two were quickly consumed by an expanding explosion. Orgo’s brethren moved out of range in the nick of time. There was no doubt that Orgo’s blast would’ve destroyed them as well. The expanding explosion caught everyone’s attention, bringing Vesper and Wyndara’s conflict to a brief halt.

“This…isn’t good.” Vesper said under her breath.

“Why? Cause we’re about to crush all of you?” Wyndara questioned stupidly. She’d grown too tired to sense what was happening within the veil of dust and debris.

“You fool you don’t understand, not only are you dead, but all of us are. That Namek managed to piss her off. Lady Sheeva is going to consume us all.” Vesper breathed shallow breaths as she fell to her knees. Fear gripped her heart.

“What the-” Wyndara was cut off by a brilliant explosion of crimson light.

Gale force winds were summoned and banished the smokescreen from the battlefield. Now and only now, could Wyndara pick up on Sheeva’s growing power level. Belial was nothing compared to Sheeva, that much was becoming clearer by the second. A crimson aura burned around Sheeva’s body as the Dragonball embedded in her flesh glowed even brighter. Howling with rage Sheeva used one of her hands to lift the unconscious Kuromaru off the ground.

“Your soul is mine.” Sheeva’s voice deepened as her hands clamped down upon Kuromaru’s mangled body. The Dragonball in her belly button released a bright golden light as Sheeva called upon its mystic properties. Kuromaru’s body broke down into particles of light and was drawn into Sheeva’s opened mouth.

“She…she can absorb the souls of others!?” Wyndara’s fell to one knee in shock. “All of those Nameks will be like a free buffet. They need to get out of there!”

“You don’t understand, it’s too late for them. Once she’s gotten her hands on one soul she cannot stop until all of those around her are dead.” Vesper had lost her will to do battle with Wyndara thanks to this unfortunate turn of events.

Sheeva licked her lips in anticipation; her gaze had been set upon the Namekians before her. A devious grin quickly took root in her expression, and the ground beneath her feet trembled as her aura expanded once again.

“Come to me.” Sheeva hissed as she spread her arms outward, falsely welcoming her prey.

A distortion in space formed before her opened mouth, and a wind tunnel quickly formed. It started to pull in the air surrounding Sheeva as if it were the vacuum of space. The first Namek to be caught in the expanding wind tunnel was broken down into particles of light, and was drawn into the belly of the beast to so speak.

“We have to retreat! Pull back now!” Orgo shouted to his comrades while he remained at a safe distance. However, it was too late. Warrior after warrior was drawn into Sheeva’s being. They were unable to escape the strength of Sheeva’s unique ability.

“Wyndara, we need to pull back until either Gohan or Damian arrive!” Orgo shouted as he landed beside Kizura’s unconscious body. “That ability of hers is just too strong, and her power level increasing by the second!” Orgo continued to shout to Wyndara as he hoisted Kizura over his shoulders.

Wyndara took a moment to process Orgo’s words, she was too fear stricken to really think things through. Vesper’s fears of death had become Wyndara’s own.

“Come on! Get up, now!” Orgo commanded the demoness as he raced toward her.

“Ah, what a satisfying meal.” Sheeva cackled as she absorbed the last of Orgo’s brethren. “Which of you desires to be next? My hunger is far from sated.” Sheeva laughed deviously as she turned her sights toward, Vesper, Wyndara and Kizura. At this point it was clear that Sheeva no longer held any allegiance to Vesper. She was too preoccupied with idea of consuming all she laid eyes upon. “Oh? No volunteers?” The four-armed monster said as she closed the distance between her and her prey. “Well then, I guess I get to choose.” Sheeva said as she came to a halt roughly twenty feet from her nervous quarry.

“Don’t get too cocky!” Damian’s energetic voice came from above. “I’ll be your opponent!” The son of Toshin shouted as he touched down between Sheeva and his weary allies.

“The son of Toshin has returned?” Sheeva raised a brow. “Interesting, I wasn’t expecting to see you anytime soon.” The demoness crossed her lower arms over one another.

“Heh, well you probably thought I wore myself out, but I’ve come back stronger than ever before.” Damian grinned as he let his right hand fell upon the handle of his sheathed blade.

“Oh really? Show me this supposed power of yours.” Sheeva laughed mockingly.

“I will.” Damian mumbled as he freed his blade from its sheath.

As the blade came free Damian’s devil arm released a relatively distinct humming sound. The atmospheric pressure around Damian increased as the ground beneath his feet crumbled. A low growl rumbled in the hybrid’s throat as he started to call upon his new powers. The fatherless demon’s eyes flashed crimson, as a thick red substance seeped out from his flesh. Damian’s growling turned into a full blown roar as a crimson aura exploded out from his frame. The crimson substance solidified as Damian’s hair spiked. Lastly Damian’s blade transformed, it extended in length and gained a rather large guard. Once again the son of Toshin had taken on the form of a true Makaioshin.

Before Sheeva could make some sort of remark Damian went on the offensive. The empowered son of Toshin appeared before Sheeva, his left fist cocked back in preparation to strike. Sheva snickered at the speedy demon and sent one of her fists toward the young Makaioshin, however her attack failed. Like Gohan, Damian was a master of the After Image technique. As the astonished Sheeva’s fist passed through Daman’s visage, the Makaioshin appeared to her left. With all the force of a supersonic hammer, Damian slammed his shin into the side of Sheeva’s head. Without the slightest pause Sheeva was lifted off her feet and sent rocketing across the war torn island. The four armed demoness was driven through what little rock formations remained on the island. None of them stopped her from clearing the island and continuing over the water’s surface.

“Wyndara, I’m going to give you a bit of my energy. Do what you can to heal the others. Remember after Sheeva we still have to deal with Asmodeus.” Damian kept his eyes on the trail of destruction caused by the rocketing Sheeva.

“Right, I’ll do what I can.” Wyndara nodded as she received a stream of energy from Damian. “You really are your father’s son. Your power…it’s amazing.”

“That might be true, but Gohan’s going to become even stronger than me. He’s the one who will put all of this to an end, not me.” Damian was finally able to shelve his pride.

Something happened when his potential was unlocked by Flute, his demon bred arrogance had been transformed into channeled into something else, something greater. Damian could see things in a much clearer light. He finally respected Gohan for his strength.

While the battle continued to unfold in the world above, Asmodeus prepared to join the fray. “So Sheeva, you plan to absorb the souls of those I sent you to fight? Do you really think that will give you enough power to defeat me?” Asmodeus laughed to himself as he continued to watch the battle on the surface world unfold. “The amount of dark energy I’ve absorbed since coming here is far beyond anything she could attain from the world above.” Asmodeus snickered; he gravely disapproved of Sheeva’s choice. “If you really want to see what it means to rob someone of their soul, I’ll show you Sheeva.” The cursed mage howled as he grabbed his scepter, it was about time for him to move out.

Chapter Five: The Final Battle

-1-

A Hero Is Born

The process of awakening the potential of an individual was thought to be quick and easy, however the more time Flute and Locke spent working with the son of Goku, the quicker that thought dissipated. The hidden potential within Gohan was even greater than the two guardians anticipated. Gohan’s mastery over both his Super Saiyan transformations had created something new, something that was ready to be brought into the light. The hybrid’s mixed blood augmented that power and made it different from any normal Saiyan’s. Soon Gohan would attain a form that transcended anything he’d ever thought possible.

Surpassing the power of Ascended Super Saiyan was normally thought to be impossible. Once one had attained the power of a Super Saiyan Two, they should’ve been done transforming. That should’ve been the end of the line. If there was a power beyond that it would take decades to unlock its secrets. Yet the son of Kakarot was on the precipice of unlocking that sacred power. The deeper Flute and Locke dug, the more they realized that Gohan would be able to stop not only Asmodeus, but the Ancient One as well. Their hopes hadn’t been misplaced, now they just needed to push that power out into the open and make it a reality.

I can feel it… Gohan could see a golden slight hovering before his mind’s eye. I can…see it. The hybrid thought as he reached out toward the glowing orb before him.

The closer Gohan drew to the flashing orb of light, the brighter became. The darkness that enveloped the void Gohan found himself floating in started to crack. Particles of blue light began to rain down around the son of Kakarot as he reached into the glowing sphere. The instant Gohan came into contact with it a rush of power surged through his veins. A battle cry escaped the hybrid as the history of the universe’s birth flashed before his very eyes. Planets he’d never seen before zoomed by him. Suddenly the blue light particles that were raining down around him coalesced into shards of energy, which flew past him with the planets in tow. The confused hybrid was swept up by the golden light as he heard the distinct roar of the mighty Great ape.

What is this!? Gohan cried out from within his mind as his forefathers appeared before them. Each of them wore proud smiles. They pushed for Gohan to complete the transition and to continue plowing forward. Is this truly real? This vision of the universe and my lineage. The half-breed thought as his forefathers faded from view and the Great Ape started to revert to its normal form.

Gohan’s eyes widened as the Oozaru was revealed to be Gohan himself, however it didn’t stop at reverting back to normal size. The Oozaru reverted back to Gohan as a baby. Before Gohan could further question what he was seeing, the world around him began to crack as if it were some glass creation. The power that now flowed through his veins took root in his very soul before everything around him exploding, forcing Gohan from the depths of his own mind.

Gohan’s eyes shot open. A sapphire aura burned around his body as a weary Flute and Locke stepped away from him. Their exposed flesh was covered in sweat, and their eyes drooped, fatigue had struck them without mercy. At first Gohan prepared to come to their aid, but the power that pervaded around him stopped him. Everything he’d felt while within that strange reality had been transferred into the physical world. Every ounce of power he’d attained while venturing the black void was with him. The hybrid looked down at his palms; blue lighting crackled off his skin and increased the atmospheric pressure around him. The further the fatigued guardians got from Gohan, the easier it became for them to catch their breath.

“This is awesome.” Gohan said to himself as he continued to look himself over. “It really worked.” Gohan looked over toward the recovering duo. “Thank you Master Flute, Master Locke.” The son of Goku said with a respectful bow. The aura that danced around his frame started to recede, his body was already adapting to it.

“I am just glad…it worked.” Flute spoke between labored breaths.

“We’ve never been so drained after awakening someone’s potential before.” Locke said as he forced himself to his feet. “You really are something.” The Namek continued.

Gohan scratched the back of his head and laughed weakly, “Well I’ll make sure it wasn’t for nothing.”

“I always knew you had it in you Gohan, the power to transcend your limitations.” Elder Argo said as he hobbled over to his surrogate son.

“Thank you, for everything Elder Argo.” Gohan respectfully kneeled before the wrinkled elder. “I will use everything you’ve given me and taught me to stop Asmodeus and the Ancient One.”

“I know you will Gohan.” Argo smiled as he placed his hand upon Gohan’s shoulder. “Now I must impart to you the gi of your forefathers, may it guide you on your path.” As Argo spoke Gohan’s clothing was wreathed in an array of light particles.

The particles quickly came together to create a new outfit for the son of Goku. It was very similar to his previous attire, only it had a black undershirt, a black belt fashioned into a sash and lastly a new set of black and red boots. The material felt even more durable, yet just as light weight, as Gohan’s previous attire. The Mystic Garments that had been entrusted to Gohan had received some sort of upgrade, that much Gohan could be sure of.

“I’ll return once everything is said and done.” Gohan said as he stood up. “Once I take down these guys we’ll still have Aisu to deal with.” Gohan’s expression became more serious at the mention of Aisu.

He and everyone else knew that they wouldn’t be out of danger with the defeat of Asmodeus. There was still another threat looming outside the planet’s atmosphere. Not wanting to waste any more time talking, Gohan stepped past Elder Argo and made his way toward the exit. The Nameks watched in silence, they’d seen Gohan’s true potential for their own eyes. Everyone had complete and total faith in Gohan’s victory. The decision that most opposed turned out be the best possible one. Taking a member of the most vicious race in the universe, and ensuring that he’d become a force for good, was the best thing the people of Namek could of done. Without them, there was no doubt that Gohan would’ve gone on to become a destroyer of worlds. The hybrid would’ve been no better than Aisu or Asmodeus for that matter.

Gohan stepped out unto the hard ground, and a cool breeze brushed up against his face. The half-breed took a deep breath. He let the peaceful air of the planet fill his lungs. Despite the war that raged in the distance, the planet breathed easy. Mother Nature trusted Gohan to act accordingly; he would protect her work so to speak. After a brief moment of soaking in the peace, Gohan slightly bent his knees in preparation for takeoff.

“Alright, this is it.” Gohan’s expression hardened as he pushed off the ground and leapt into the air. The hybrid’s aura didn’t burn around his body, and he kept from taking on the form of a Super Saiyan. Even at his base form he exhibited more power than did as a Super Saiyan. Gohan didn’t need to reveal the full extent of his powers just yet. That would be something to unveil on the battlefield.

Chapter Five: The Final Battle

-2-

A Whole New Gohan

The battle between Sheeva and the newly empowered Damian nearly destroyed the island. Each time the two otherworldly warriors collided pieces of the island were cast into the oblivion. The two combatants were forced to take their battle into the heavens, if they had continued trading blows on the ground the island would’ve fallen into the sea. The clash between Sheeva and Damian could be heard for miles around. Each strike they made broke through the sound barrier with ease, and when forces such as those collided the damage was beyond imagination. Anyone who came too close to the action would’ve been torn asunder; thankfully Wyndara and Vesper used their mastery of the mystic arts to their benefit. A protective warding had been placed around Orgo, Kizura, Vesper and Wyndara. The warding shielded them from the dark energy that travelled the airways. Even though Vesper once sided with Sheeva and had sworn her allegiance to Asmodeus, she had choice but to help the demons of Nishar. Like most demons of Vesper’s caliber, her loyalties could be shifted as quickly as the wind could change directions. Vesper knew her life would be forfeit if she didn’t ally with the people of Nishar.

“Toshin’s son is far more powerful than I’d imagined.” Vesper said under her breath. Her eyes had widened, her shock was clearly evident in both her face and her demeanor. “The information we’d gathered on him never placed him at the level of Makaioshin…” The demoness continued to speak through her shock.

“Yes, Damian has inherited all of his father’s tenacity and brute strength.” Kizura had regained consciousness, but his body still ached. It was still impossible for the demon to join any sort of battle. The mere act of breathing caused the demon’s chest to pulsate with pain. “Still, I hope it will be enough, there is one more enemy for us to face.” Kizura coughed as he fell to one knee, his body was telling him to just shut up and watch.

“Yes, the one who caused all this is still lurking below.” Orgo could sense Asmodeus’ dark power hiding beneath the ocean surface.

“Vesper, what do you know about Asmodeus? How did he resurrect the Dark One?” Wyndara questioned her fellow demoness.

A long and drawn out sigh escaped Vesper as she thought about how she was going to respond. “Asmodeus said that it was the awakening of Gohan’s other-self that broke the seal, or at least cracked it.” Vesper turned toward Wyndara and the others as she began her explanation. “Apparently his power combined with that of the Dragonball’s was enough to create a small tear in the fabric of space and time. The Dark One used that tear to send a bit of his influence into this dimension, and with that influence he made contact with Asmodeus.” Vesper concluded with a shrug. Everything was pretty straightforward; it wasn’t nearly as complicated as the others believed it to be.

Wyndara paused for a moment, her eyes wandered toward Kizura in order to confirm the possibility of Vesper’s story. The demon gave her a nod; he didn’t doubt her in the slightest. Considering the unknown properties of the Dragonballs and Gohan’ own power, there was no doubt they could create some spatial phenomena.

“Do you think we could fix the tear, if we combine our powers?” Wyndara suggested reluctantly. The demoness didn’t want to work with Vesper any more than she had to, but she had no choice if she wanted to preserve her way of life.

“Yes, between the two of us we could close that gateway. However, it won’t be easy. As long as Asmodeus is down there we won’t be able to close it. The tear grows larger the longer he is absorbing the energy that seeps from it. From what I’ve gathered, he cannot absorb energy from the Dark Dimension unless he’s in the cavern. Topside he won’t be able to increase his power as much.” Vesper spoke as if she’d already been planning to betray Asmodeus since she joined him.

“So once he surfaces we can get to work on sealing it.” Wyndara repeated as she glanced at each of her comrades. “Gohan had better hurry up. Damian might be a lot stronger now, but there’s no telling how strong Asmodeus will be by the time he surfaces.” The demoness directed her attention toward the horizon. She was secretly praying for the arrival of their greatest ally. Together, Gohan and Damian would be an unstoppable force.

While Wyndara and company made their plans, Damian continued to do battle with the vile Sheeva. In the midst of the chaos the son of Toshin had managed to cut off Sheeva’s lower left arm, leaving her with only three. Thankfully for Sheeva, Damian had inadvertently cauterized the wound with the swing of his blade. Even though the demoness was in searing pain she continued to wage war on the son of Toshin. She made it her solemn duty to eradicate the hybrid; however she was starting to falter in that goal. Even with the Dragonball augmenting her power, Damian still surpassed her level of strength. Sheeva had even attempted to absorb Damian’s soul, however the hybrid cancelled out the wind tunnel with ease. The longer the cataclysmic battle went on the, the clearer it became that Damian was the one bringing about such destruction, not Sheeva. That truth infuriated the former goddess; her anger pushed her to her very limits.

“This is growing old Sheeva!” Damian exclaimed as he slammed his elbow into the bridge of Sheeva’s nose. “I expected so much more from the bearer of the Three Star Dragonball.” Damian snickered as he smacked Sheeva with the flat side of his oversized weapon. “Well it’s time we end this petty squabble.” Damian concluded as he aimed his free hand toward the spiraling murderer.

Crimson particles of energy were summoned to the Makaioshin’s outstretched palm. They released distinctive buzz as they meshed together in order to create a red sphere. The air around Damian’s body spiraled outward as it was affected by Damian’s forming energy. A faint smile cracked the hybrid’s lips as the power of the energy sphere peaked and stabilized.

“Demon Blitz…” Damian muttered before he unleashed the mass of energy he’d cultivated. The energy sphere quickly took on the form of an energy wave. Its crimson light sparkled in the emerald heavens. Damian’s attack slammed into Sheeva’s body and resulted in a resounding explosion that consumed most of the sky. Sheeva’s cries of pain were completely overtaken by the sound of the expanding blast wave.

“Still alive huh?” Damian sighed as Sheeva’s mangled form broke through the veil of dust. The demoness plummeted toward the island below; gravity had taken complete control over her body. With an earthshattering thud the battle ravaged Sheeva collided with the ground. “At least she knows as well as I that she’s done for.” Damian supposed as he descended toward his defeat foe.

The closer he drew to her, the easier it was to see the extent of her pain. Blood flowed from various wounds; her plasma soaked her arms and chest. By the looks of things Sheeva had managed to block Damian’s attack. However, blocking it only delayed the inevitable. Damian touched down on the edge of crater that had been formed by Sheeva’s less than graceful landing. The Makaioshin pointed the tip of his blade toward Sheeva’s throat as he stepped over her mangled body. The demon looked into Sheeva’s eyes; they were filled with pain and sorrow. Sheeva had escaped the cold grasp of death for eons, but all of her running meant nothing before this upstart Makaioshin. The son of Toshin surpassed anything she could produce and she knew it.

“You chose the wrong path.” Damian snickered before he plunged his blade into Sheeva’s throat.

A gurgled cry escaped the demoness as her head started to tear away from its foundation. As Sheeva’s life force left her, her body started to breakdown into a pile of dust and bone. The only thing left of the demoness was the Dragonball that was embedded in her stomach, and that wasn’t even hers to begin with. Pleased with himself, Damian relinquished Sheeva’s petty remains of the Dragonball and stepped out of the impact crater.

For a moment it seemed like everything was right in the world. Sheeva had been slain, Asmodeus was out of generals and there weren’t any more lower class demons crawling out of the infernal pit. However, this moment was short lived and only a fool would’ve wasted energy lavishing in it. The ocean began to boil as it was overtaken by a sickening black ooze. The sky darkened as thunder clouds rolled in from nowhere. White lightning danced between the clouds as tornados descended from the sky and touched down in the distance. The winds howled with demonic laughter as a figure materialized across from Damian and his cowering allies. The wind’s laughter quickly became the forming figure’s laughter. The shadow cast by the newcomer consumed the entire island before it receded, and the frame of the humanoid took solid form.

“So, you’ve finally managed to defeat Sheeva. I would say I am impressed, however I am far from it in fact.” Asmodeus said as he appeared before his enemies. “Damian you hold a great deal of power, yet you’re nothing compared to me.” The sorcerer continued as a twisted grin formed on his lips.

Slowly Damian turned to face the dark sorcerer. “I am nothing you say?” The hybrid tossed the Dragonball he’d picked up over to Kizura and the others. “How about we test that theory!?”

“It is not a theory, it is mere fact. You’re just too foolish to realize that. However, I will show you so that you may see your weakness for yourself.” Asmodeus responded as he allowed his scepter to form in his right hand.

“No…this isn’t…” Orgo mumbled as he picked up on the true nature of Asmodeus’ power. “No don’t do it Damian! He’ll destroy you!”

It was too late; Damian had already broken into a mad dash toward Asmodeus. The son of Toshin was determined to prove himself once again, so much so that he completely threw caution to the wayside. As Damian accelerated he prepared to bring his blade into an outward arc. Before Damian could close the distance between the two, Asmodeus vanished from everyone’s line of sight. In the following instant the mage appeared above Damian. Asmodeus brought his left knee crashing into Damian’s back, forcing him to collide with the face of the earth. The sound of twisting bone resonated along the air ways as the speedy mage twisted his knee into Damian’s back.

“You see, you’re nothing but an ant beneath my boot.” Asmodeus whispered as he got off of Damian. “Now then it is time for your life to come to an end” The magus said as he grasped Damian’s right leg. With little effort Asmodeus hurled Damian into the air and took aim at him with his scepter. The emerald gem at the scepter’s tip released brilliant green light as a sphere of energy enclosed the son of Toshin.

“Chaos Scepter Blast.” Asmodeus chanted as the sphere of energy crackled and began to converge upon its center. The air around the sphere distorted as a tear within the dimension was starting to form.

     Kyah!

Out of seemingly nowhere an energy wave collided with the outside of the sphere causing it to explode outward, protecting the demon trapped within. With the sphere no longer suspending him, Damian plummeted toward the island. Just before impact, the Makaioshin was caught by the son of Kakarot. Gohan skid over the battle ravaged earth as he stuck his landing, Damian in hand. A small trail of dust kicked up behind the hybrid as he came to a halt.

“Go-Gohan?” Damian coughed as he reverted back to his normal form. The demon could no longer maintain his transformation.

“Sorry I’m late, but I’ll take things from here.” Gohan said as he turned his back on Asmodeus and started walking toward his other allies.

Interesting, he was able to stop my attack with a simple energy blast. Asmodeus thought as he watched Gohan wander over to his friends. What secrets have you unlocked Gohan, I am eager to see just how much more powerful you’ve become. The mage thought as he looked down at his left hand, it was actually shaking. Asmodeus’ instincts were telling him not to haphazardly do battle with Gohan, but the mage quieted his mind’s desire to flee.

“Take care of him Kizura.” Gohan said as he set Damian down. “I’ll handle Asmodeus.”

“Gohan.” Wyndara called out to her comrade. “Vesper and I won’t just be sitting back and watching, while you fight him we’ll work to seal the gateway.”

“Alright, do what you have to do. Just don’t get dragged into the chaos, I’m not sure how much control I’ll have over my new power.” Gohan said as he turned away from his allies. “But don’t worry, I won’t lose my sanity and start attacking you guys or anything.” Gohan said confidently as walked toward his new opponent.

“You’ve grown strong Gohan, but do you think you can beat me using the meager power of an Ascended Super Saiyan?” Asmodeus scoffed as he clenched his shaking hand, silencing it for now.

“Heh, I supposed an Ascended Super Saiyan isn’t much of a challenge for you anymore.” Gohan grinned as he looked into Asmodeus’ dark eyes. “How about I show you the next level?”

“The next level? Do you mean to tell me you’ve gone past the Super Saiyan level that’s beyond the original!?” Asmodeus gasped.

“Heh, observe Asmodeus I’ll show you the true extent of my awakened power. I’ll go right through each level and you can tell me if I’ve transcended my previous limitations.” Gohan grinned as he adjusted his stance ever so slightly.

Suddenly Gohan’s golden aura sparked to life around his body and his muscles bulged slightly. The man’s hair and eyebrows took on the same golden hue as his aura and his eyes became a trademark teal. A puff of dust was forced outward, away from Gohan and the now shocked Asmodeus. Gohan’s power had nearly doubled and it was already greater than the deceased Sheeva’s. The smug expression on Gohan’s face deepened as he called forth his power as an Ascended Super Saiyan. The ebb and flow of Gohan’s aura increased, it became more erratic. Blue sparks of bio-electricity crackled through his aura, and the amount of dust and debris that had been forced from the earth increased. Gohan had gone well beyond Damian and even the dead Toshin at this point.

“You’ve seen my Super Saiyan and Ascended Super Saiyan transformations, now it is time to show you what rests beyond that.” Gohan grinned as he spread his legs even further and hunched forward, taking up something of a squatting position.

A thundering roar escaped the son of Kakarot as his aura exploded outward and lost all color. Gohan’s aura climbed toward the sky and the blackened heavens were starting to see the light of day once again. Purple threads of lightning raged within Gohan’s aura as it continued to climb and expand. The ground beneath Gohan’s feet trembled, and what little grass that remained in the soil was instantly uprooted and incinerated. Thick veins appeared in Gohan’s biceps and his forehead. Sweat collected on Gohan’s brow and started to run down his left cheek. The hybrid’s yells intensified as his power level continued to climb, there didn’t appear to be any sign that it would stop growing.

“This…is amazing.” Kizura said as his jaw dropped. “Such incredible power and it’s still growing.” Kizura said flabbergasted.

“Masters Flute and Locke really out did themselves, they helped Gohan reach impossible heights.” Orgo said as he fell to one knee out of shock. His knees were too busy clacking together to keep him upright.

“This is unreal, I see why you allied yourselves with a Saiyan.” Vesper forced herself to speak.

“To think we didn’t want him to join us back on Frost, but he’s proven to be the strongest among us.” Wyndara laughed weakly.

“Go now my friend, show us the fruits of your training.” Kizura grinned.

One final roar escaped the son of Kakarot as his aura exploded outward. The darkness that once lingered above had been completely dispelled, and the raging tornados were no more. Despite all of this chaos, Gohan looked completely…normally. Sure his physique had become more profound and the land around him had been torn apart, but he looked as he did in his base form. His face had changed a little and his hair had become a little more…defined.

“This is what I’d call a Transcended Super Saiyan, or I guess you could this a Super Saiyan Three.” Gohan said as he stood fully erect, his raven eyes trained on the astounded Asmodeus. Gohan’s white aura continued to dance around his body, and blue sparks of energy continued to permeate his aura. Gohan’s true power had awoken and was now available for world to see.

Asmodeus simply stood there shock, his brain couldn’t get his mouth to form words. The magus could only look on in horror, for he knew just how severely he was about to be thrashed by the son of Goku.

“What’s the matter Asmodeus? Don’t tell me you’re afraid.” Gohan said cockily.

“I…I, I’m not afraid!” The mage roared as he tensed his muscles in order to stop shaking like a child left out in the cold.

“Heh, good.” Gohan said before he went on the attack.

Gohan’s left foot hit Asmodeus’ right foot and knocked him off his balance. Well before the Magus could recover Gohan stepped forward and rammed his right fist straight into Asmodeus’ gut. The once mighty sorcerer doubled over in pain as salvia was ejected from his mouth. Gohan didn’t stop his assault there, the hybrid jump into the air and cocked back his right fight as if were prepared to strike with it again. Instead the transcended fighter wheeled his right leg around and delivered a powerful kick to the side of Asmodeus’ head. Gohan held back just enough to keep the mage grounded. For a moment Gohan vanished from sight, travelling faster than the human eye could follow. In the following instant the Saiyan appeared behind Asmodeus. Gohan rammed his elbow into the back of the mage’s neck, forcing him onto his knees. The hybrid then reached out with both hands and grasped the headdress that seemed bound to Asmodeus’ scalp. Without pause the hybrid lifted his foe off the ground, and began spinning the magus around as if he were a hapless child. After the tenth rotation Gohan hurled the mage into the emerald sky. The force of the wind encircling the released Asmodeus pinned his arms to his sides as he unwillingly climbed the celestial ladder.

Gohan slightly bent his knees as his aura pulsated. With a brief grunt Gohan pushed off the ground and accelerated toward his foe. Within no time at all Gohan caught up to his foe, only to pass by him. Grinning, the half-breed pulled his arm across his body and waited for Asmodeus to come within striking range. The moment he did Gohan’s arm flew outward, and the back side of his fist collided with the dead center of Asmodeus’ back. The mage hung in the air for a moment as his limbs flailed outward and another agonizing cry escaped him. After that brief moment passed, Asmodeus was sent rocking toward the unforgiving terra firm below. Halfway toward the ground the mage broke through the sound barrier. His plummet was a fast and furious one. Sadly for Asmodeus Gohan wasn’t done with him. Before the mage hit the ground Gohan appeared in his path. The hybrid cocked back his left fist and waited for the right moment to drive his fist forward, straight into the plummeting mage’s gut. A resounding shockwave tore through the air as Gohan’s fist made contact.

For a moment it seemed Gohan’s fist wouldn’t pass through Asmodeus’ body, however the feeling of warm blood greeted Gohan’s exposed fist. Asmodeus began to slide down Gohan’s arm as if it were a pike. Snickering the son of Goku tossed the mage aside, flicking some of the sorcerer’s tainted blood off his arm as he did so. Asmodeus’ body tumbled across the ground before he came to a stop.

“Is it…over?” Vesper questioned as she lowered her arms. She and Wyndara had been casting a spell to seal the tear between worlds.

“Vesper we don’t have time to think about that, we need to keep working.” Wyndara barked as she glared at her companion. Wyndara didn’t want to be caught up in the storm of victory, else the tear wouldn’t be mended and more darkness would permeate the land.

“Right, I’m sorry we should focus on the task at hand.” Vesper sighed as she returned her hands to the proper position. Her black aura once again mingled with Wyndara’s own as the duo went back to chanting in their native tongue.

“This time I won’t make the mistake of letting you go Asmodeus. There’s only one way to deal with your kind.” Gohan said as he slowly raised his hand toward the maimed mage.

“You bastard!” Blood was forced from Asmodeus’ throat as he tried to force himself to his feet. “I won’t die here, I will return even stronger than before!” The mage howled as his arms gave out and he fell back to the ground. “I’ll destroy…everything.” The mage wheezed as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a golden ring. “You may have won this battle, but mark my words Gohan…This isn’t over.” Asmodeus cackled as a blood laden grin crossed his lips.

“No Asmodeus, it is over.” Gohan retorted as he unleashed a wave of energy toward the dying magus. However, at the last possible second Asmodeus slipped on the ring he’d produced. Like a thief in the night the mage vanished, leaving Gohan’s blast to destroy nothing but the earth. “Tch, he got away, dammit.” Gohan muttered as he lowered his arm and started walking toward his battle weary comrades.

“They should have the gateway sealed shortly.” Kizura said as he forced himself to stand, his body was starting cooperate with him.

“Good, I’ll be glad to at least have this ordeal taken care of…but you know we have another fight on our hands right?” Gohan questioned Kizura as he looked toward the sky. The time and space barrier that Sanosuke had veiled in the planet in was starting to break down. Gohan’s transformation, along with all the commotion planet side had managed to severely weaken the barrier.

“Yes I know, things are going to get even more complicated. However you can deal with Aisu on your own, considering how much power you’ve gained.” Kizura laughed mildly.

“You’re right, maybe I should fly into the upper atmosphere and take care of him before he can even touch down.” Gohan suggested. His eyes were still trained on the world above.

“Perhaps that would be best.” Kizura responded.

“I’ll be to take everyone to our healers, if you need our help we’ll be able to get to you once everyone is healed.” Orgo nodded respectfully as he spoke Gohan.

“No, that won’t be necessary. I’d rather you guys stay out of this. Aisu is my problem and I need to deal with him alone. Just focus on closing what remains of the tear. Even if Asmodeus managed to get away he wouldn’t be stupid enough to try and attack again so soon.”

“Gohan, I can promise you we won’t be seeing that bastard anytime soon. The ring that he put on his finger before you had the chance to destroy him, teleported him to the Dark Dimension. He’s now with his cursed master, I’m sure he’ll figure out a way to return, but he won’t be on Namek. It will be impossible once Vesper and Wyndara are done.” Kizura explained as he breathed easy, dealing with Asmodeus again wasn’t something anyone was itching to do.

“Alright, well then I’m off.” Gohan said as he stepped away from his comrades. The half-breed gave his allies a confident smile before taking to the skies. This next battle couldn’t be avoided, Aisu needed to be taken down once and for all. The changeling had wrought nothing but pain and misery. The opportunity to avenge his lost comrades was finally at hand, and Gohan wasn’t about to squander it.

Chapter Five: The Final Battle

-3-

The Bloodshed Never Ends

Kizura and the others watched as Gohan soared through the skies, his aura burned around his body as he broke through the sound barrier with ease. The amount of power at Gohan’s command frankly scared them. They’d never imagined that a Saiyan would grow strong enough to rival the powers of a gods, it was maddening. Even Kizura was sent into a state of shock, sure he believed in Gohan most of all, but he didn’t even think such a power increase was possible for a mortal. However, seeing Gohan in such a state confirmed something for everyone. That level of power wasn’t exclusive to the gods, even their creations could ascend to their level. Kizura, Wyndara, Damian, Orgo and even Vesper now had a new goal. They set their sights high, and would do whatever it took to ascend to Gohan’ level and become gods in their own right. While they may never come to surpass the son of Kakarot, they’d never fall out of the running.

“Alright, we’d better get to sealing this up.” Wyndara said as she stepped past Vesper and the others.

The two women had reduced the tear to the size of a pin head. The chasm at the ocean floor had been completely sealed, and the dark aura that permeated the waters had been cut off. However, if the tear itself wasn’t completely sealed all of this would happen all over again. It would be the same song and dance, only amplified. Once a tear was created it became more vulnerable if torn again. There was a reason that dimensional magic was forbidden, things like this would happen more often and the Dark Dimension could be forcibly drawn into the known universe. Setting free the Dark One and bringing about the true apocalypse, something no one wanted to see. Not even the great Raishin would wish that fate upon the mortal realm.

“Yes, let’s finish what we started.” Vesper said as she stepped beside Wyndara, scepter in hand. The two women went back to speaking in their native tongue, as a runic circle appeared beneath their feet and expanded to a diameter of ten feet. The aura born circle released a bright violet light as Wyndara and Vesper drew from its mystic power.

While the two women of hell worked, Orgo, Kizura and Damian convened. Three men looked like hell, namely Damian as he was still fighting to stay conscious. Despite Orgo’s initial distrust of the demon warriors, he came to think of them as true comrades. Their courage in battle was to be commended and praised. They did nothing to jeopardize the safety of the planet and its people. Even though no demon wanted to be thought of as a hero, Orgo saw these three as just that. Vesper on the other hand, was someone Orgo was undecided about. For all he knew Vesper could turn on them once her job was done. Still, he chose to set that possibility aside and focused on the scene before him.

“I will return to the Great Spire and bring one of our healers back with me in order to get you and Damian fixed up.” Orgo said as he forced Damian to lie back down. The son of Toshin refused to let himself rest, and simply slip into the realm of dreams. Damian didn’t want to miss any of the action so to speak.

“No, just take us with you.” Damian wheezed as he struggled against Orgo prompts to rest. “Gohan may want to do face the Icer alone, but we can’t let him take on another battle by himself. No matter how powerful he’s become.” The son of Toshin spoke through his pain and labored breaths. Damian’s chest rose and fell erratically as he teetered on hyperventilation.

A weak laugh escaped Kizura as he watched Damian struggle against fate. “You know Damian, you were the one who hated Gohan most of all, now you’re more than eager to help him out.” Kizura’s laughter quickly became a wheezing cough. “If I didn’t know better…I’d think that you actually trust Gohan now and think of him as a friend.” Kizura presumed as his coughing ceased.

Damian grumbled as he stopped fighting Orgo’s suppression. “Gohan is…an ally now.” Damian continued with his grumbling. Now that he was out of commission his pride had returned. “I should have trusted him sooner, but now I can see that he really is on our side.” Damian forced himself to laugh as he rested his head against the hard ground.

Heh, they’re going to make this whole betrayal thing harder than it needs to be. Kizura thought as he watched the expression on Damian’s face soften. Gohan no doubt feels the same way about Damian and Wyndara now. I won’t be able to convince him to continue on with the plan. I guess we’ll be making a new enemy in Sanosuke. The demon sighed as he closed his eyes. Still, this will make things all the more interesting, maybe Azazel had a point about walking a path that is our own. Kizura thought as he sat down on the ground. I’ll have to figure out how to speak with Sanosuke about this, he’ll be anything but happy. Another sigh escaped the former servant of Toshin, the politics of the situation had just become all the more complicated.

“Rejection!” Wyndara and Vesper’s words resonated along the airways and reached the triage of men. The sickening feeling that knotted everyone’s gut receded, the tear had been sealed and everyone felt it collectively. Vesper and Wyndara had succeeded in their duty, Namek was officially free from Asmodeus’ and the Dark One’s infernal grasp.

“So then, what happens now?” Vesper questioned Wyndara as the runic circle that once shined beneath there feed dissipated.

Vesper knew that she wasn’t exactly the most welcomed of people in the Nisharian province. She’s betrayed Toshin centuries ago and had been in hiding ever since. Vesper was a counterpart of Wyndara’s, both of them served as the head magistrates in Toshin’s army. When Vesper left, Wyndara had been tasked with hunting her down. However, over the centuries Wyndara and Toshin gave up their desire to see Vesper decapitated for her treason. Thankfully for Vesper, Toshin’s death and Wyndara’s lack of power prevented her from renewing her expired duty.

“Now you have two choices.” Wyndara folded her arms over her chest. “You leave and never show your face to us again…” Wyndara’s expression hardened as she gave option number one. An undeniable tension formed in the air between the two as Wyndara’s words hit Vesper. Vesper noticeably gulped as Wyndara prepared to speak about option number two. “Or you can join us and help us rebuild. Even though you were out to kill us you showed some of your old loyalties today. There may yet be a place for you in the restored Nishar.” Wyndara unfolded her arms and kindly gestured for a handshake with her former enemy. Instantly the atmosphere relaxed, Wyndara earnestly wanted to let her back into the fold.

Vesper’s eyes widened in shock, she didn’t think she’d actually be permitted to return. The demoness knew that if things were reversed she wouldn’t have let Wyndara off like this. The Saiyan hybrid really had changed the leaders of Nishar, for what seemed like the better. A new type of demon utopia had been seeded in the minds of those gathered here. Perhaps coexistence with the mortals was possible and Toshin’s dream of universal dominance was simply obsolete.

Vesper breathed a sigh of relief as she took Wyndara’s hand. “Yes, I will rejoin you. Besides what else can I do? It seems mixing it up with Sheeva and Asmodeus’ kind does nothing but get you killed.” Vesper sighed as she thought about Azazel and Kuromaru.

Both generals had an astounding amount of potential; they just allied themselves with the wrong people. Vesper had gotten lucky when it came to her survival. If Sheeva hadn’t gone into a fit of rage, Vesper herself would no doubt be dead. The handshake between the two denizens of Hell renewed their vow as comrades in arms. However, it also meant that any future betrayals, from either party, would result in death. The past would not be allowed to repeat itself.

While the demons patched things up, Flute & Locke continued to speak with the elders of Namek. Everyone had seen Gohan’s tremendous power, and his finalized desire to be a force for good and not evil. Helping Gohan attain a power that bordered on godhood, was perhaps the best thing the people of Namek had done in decades. While it was true they lost many of their warriors in the chaos, they birthed the ultimate warrior. One who would be remembered for all eternity.

“Gohan’s final battle on this planet is about to begin.” Elder Argo addressed his colleagues. “The barrier that Sanosuke put up around our planet was destroyed by the battle, Gohan is on his way to face Aisu, the terror that we feared would descend upon us before all of this happened.” Argo said cryptically. “We’ve no warriors to spare; he’ll have to join in this chaos alone.” Argo sighed as he hobbled over to one of the building’s windows. Despite Gohan’s immense power boost, Argo worried about his surrogate son. The elder knew just how much pain Aisu had brought Gohan in the past, seeing the Icer after all these years would be hard for the Super Saiyan.

“We may not be able to support him physically elder, but we can give him our upmost faith. We’ve seen what he can do and Aisu is completely in the dark about Gohan’s new found abilities. Gohan can, and will, destroy Aisu once and for all. Our people will know peace once more.” Locke said as he stepped behind the elder. “You’re the one who has had the most faith in him after all, don’t lose that faith it’s what’s gotten all of us this far.” Locke continued to breathe his words of encouragement and wisdom. The others in the room nodded in agreement, they too trusted Gohan’s success.

The elder laughed a little as he took in Locke’s words. “You’re right; I guess my worry really proves how I feel about our young prodigy. He’s might be the son of humanity and the Saiyans, but he’s also a son of Namek.” Argo declared as he tightened his gasp on his cane, his dwindled confidence had been completely revitalized.

“If you really don’t want him to go alone, I can help him.” A voice unfamiliar to the gathered Namek’s came from the opened entrance. “Now that the barrier’s been taken down my full power has returned.” The leader of Hitori clan said as he walked into the light, allowing the elders to take in the sight of him.

“I was wondering when we’d meet face to face.” Argo didn’t turn away from the window as he spoke to the newcomer. “I wanted to thank you for protecting our planet, even if your motives were a little self-serving.”

“But of course. The Dragonballs intrigue me; however I don’t want them for their wishes. But then, you already knew that didn’t you Argo?” Sanosuke failed to honor Argo with his title of elder. Flute and Locke were prepared to call the demon out for his lack of respect, but they held their tongues at the command of Elder Argo.

“Let me guess, you’ve realized that Gohan and the others won’t go along with the betrayal now right?” Argo questioned the demon; he still didn’t do him the honor of speaking to him face to face.

“Yes, that battle with Asmodeus truly brought them together, asking them to betray one another is foolish at this point. Plus Gohan has grown strong enough to challenge me outright. Even with the power of the Ryuugan I wouldn’t want to take him on in a life or death battle.” Sanosuke laughed as he crossed his arms over his chest.

“So then, what do you propose? I know you want to bring back your son more than anything.”

“Yes, Felix’s life is all that I wish to have restored, even if it means I must give up my own.” Sanosuke’s words called for Argo’s attention. The elder slowly turned to face the leader of the Hitori clan. There was actually an underlying hue of fatherly love in his voice. The hybrid demon was being very sincere.

“Well then Sanosuke, I think we can help you restore Felix. You simply desire the ambient power of the Porunga, however using that power would once again alter dimensions…correct?” Argo asked a he raised a brow.

The demon nodded. “Yes, and considering what happened I don’t think allowing the Ancient One to gain another foothold on this planet is wise, so instead I ask that you use my life to restore my son’s.” Sanosuke gave up his pride and kneeled before the elder, showing his desperation.

“Giving up your life to bring back your son is admirable, but foolish.” Argo sighed. “Pawning him off to Gohan will only confuse him and push him down a potentially darker path. But then, you know this.”

     Sanosuke remained silent.

“You’ll have to venture into a place far from here in order to get Felix back. I can give you the power to access the realm he is sealed in, but I cannot say what other things you will find there.” Argo explained. “Once you have your son you can escape using that same power, it won’t cause a hole to form between worlds, so nothing will be able to travel with you unexpectedly.” The elder finished as he motioned for Sanosuke to stand up.

“I see, thank you for your assistance. I will help Gohan deal with the weaker members of Aisu’s forces. However he will have to fight Aisu on his own.”

“I know, he wouldn’t have it any other way.” The elder laughed a little as he thought about Gohan’s desire to take revenge for the loss of his squad. “Thankfully he’s gained some mastery over his emotions, his judgment won’t be clouded.”

“I had better get moving if I plan to be of any real help.” The clan leader said as he turned away from the Namek Summit. Gohan’s much needed ally in the coming battle had been selected, now the battle was truly won.

Chapter Five: The Final Battle

-4-

First Contact

“Lord Aisu!” Korvak came barging into his liege’s quarters; fear riddled both his voice and his face. Aisu didn’t answer Korvak’s cry, instead he gave him a deathly glare one that urged the advisor to speak rather than fumble around stupidly. “The long range scanners have picked something up, its heading right toward our fleet!” Korvak rambled as he tried to regain some semblance of prestige and dignity. Alas, his attempts were pointless, sweat still dripped from his brow and seeped from his blue flesh.

“Then shoot whatever it is down.” Aisu scoffed, he didn’t understand what the problem was. Korvak wasn’t one to succumb to fear, at least not publicly. This display frankly disturbed the rogue Icer, the thought of killing Korvak was being pushed to the forefront. Even though Korvak was a valuable asset, his foolishness was growing old and tiresome.

“Sir you don’t quite understand, I think you need to see the readings for yourself. This object is traveling at speeds that exceed our fastest ships and the power its generating…its…it is just not possible!” Korvak cried. It had become impossible for him to regain his composure. He was falling apart thanks to fear and anxiety.

For Aisu, seeing his most trusted advisor in such a state was just disgusting, there was no being in this universe that should bring such fear to Korvak’s heart. The alien had seen Aisu’s true power; nothing in the mortal realm could possibly exceed that. Aisu was the ultimate warrior and if someone had surpassed him they wouldn’t appear out of the blue. A great deal of time would’ve transpired between now and then, and during that time Aisu would’ve become privy to their existence. It was true that Aisu believed Gohan had the potential to grow as strong, if not stronger than Aisu himself, there was no way he could’ve achieved that power. For Aisu and the fleet it had only been a couple of hours since Gohan had defeated the Super Namek, not a couple of months. Sanosuke’s time and space barrier had done exactly what it was supposed to do. Aisu and his forces were completely unaware of the trials Gohan had just undergone planet side; their ignorance would result in their destruction.

“Please sir, just look at the readings!” On cue with Korvak’s pleas the viewing screen descended from the ceiling.

The screen showed a being moving too fast for the camera to accurately display, however the scanners picked up on the speedster’s power. Whatever it was, it was approaching the speed of light and had a power level that was unheard of, even by Aisu’s standards. For a moment the Icer stood still in sheer shock and disbelief, there was nothing on the emerald planet that could generate that much power. It was just outright impossible for Gohan to become this powerful, in the span of a couple hours. Unless the hybrid made some sort of deal with Satan himself, he wouldn’t have the strength to rival the gods themselves. Considering the fact that Gohan had abandoned the path of darkness…that possibility was ruled out. So what other explanation was there?

A spatial distortion appeared before the astonished Korvak and Aisu; both parties looked on with raised eye brows. Slowly a humanoid figure, garbed in shinobi armor appeared before them. The humanoid’s eye released a dark violet light; the runic design of the infamous Ryuugan adorned his spheres. The newcomer remained silent as his tabi clad feet touched down on the metal floor, and the spatial distortion behind him disappeared as quickly as it appeared. The shinobi crossed his arms over his chest as he examined Aisu and Korvak.

“So, you’re Aisu? You’re not as monstrous as I pictured you to be.” The demon hybrid said with a half-smile.

Aisu was indeed a monstrous looking Icer. He had black flesh and a horned headdress that was even more pronounced than Frost’s. His body’s natural armor was adorned with crimson tribal markings as well. Unlike many Icers, Aisu always maintained his final form. He didn’t believe in holding back his transformations. However, that didn’t mean that he flaunted his true power at all times.

“Who the hell are you?” Aisu questioned as his fear faded. This intruder was just as pressing as the being speeding toward them.

“I’m the one responsible for your confusion, your loss of time. You think it has only been a couple of hours since Gohan defeated that idiot Barot. Well it’s been a couple of months since then.” Sanosuke grinned as his Ryuugan glowed even brighter.

Aisu eyed Sanosuke suspiciously. “Then the being racing toward us…” Aisu’s voice trailed off as he looked toward the viewing screen. “No…No! That’s impossible, no one can control space and time, demon or not, that isn’t within your power!” Aisu pointed at Sanosuke accusingly.

“Heh, I am no average demon. In fact I am half demon, half human. These eyes of mine give me powers beyond any mortal.” Sanosuke laughed mockingly. “Now then Aisu, it is time you fight Gohan, he’s been itching to take revenge for what you did to his comrades.” The hybrid started pacing toward Aisu as he mentioned Gohan. Each step Sanosuke took sent a shiver down Korvak’s spine, the alien was afraid of not only the approaching Gohan, but the demon standing before him.

“This is absurd! I have travelled the stars for millennia! I have never come across a being such as yourself, one who could bend the natural order of things.” Aisu barked as he slipped into a state of denial.

“Perhaps you just didn’t know where to look.” Sano responded as he stopped just five feet away from the towering Icer. “Now then, you have somewhere you need to be.” Before Aisu could react Sanosuke pressed his left hand against the Icer’s chest. The spatial distortion the hybrid used to appear, drew both himself and Aisu into its twisted depths. A scream escaped Aisu as he felt himself practically liquefy in order to slip through the distortion.

Aisu found himself tumbling across hard, foreign ground. Sanosuke had ensured that his landing was anything but graceful. Hissing angrily the Icer climbed to his feet, his first mind told him to assault the demon hybrid, however he paused. Aisu’s yellow eyes widened as he surveyed the area he’d just been hurled into. Aisu and Sanosuke stood on a massive moon, for a planet that was completely alien to the Icer. There was a belt of small asteroids between the moon and sapphire planet it orbited. Aisu could see stars twinkling in the distance; it appeared as if he’d been thrown into another part of space. However the moon upon which he stood had actual gravity, just as much as planet Namek did.

“Where the hell am I?” Aisu questioned the demon.

“You’re in another world, one not bound by the laws you’re used to. We’re indeed in space however there is oxygen on this small moon. You could say that you’re trapped in a world forged by my will.” Sanosuke grinned as he motioned toward his glowing Ryuugan. “This is where you and Gohan will have your final battle, while I destroy your fleet.” The shinobi explained casually.

“Destroy my fleet?” Aisu raised a brow; his confidence was starting to return to him. “Even with all of your powers you will never be strong enough to slay 60,000 soldiers.” Aisu hissed as he pointed toward the demon.

“Perhaps destroy was the wrong word. No matter, your fleet will cease to a be a threat. Now then allow me to bring Gohan here; even if you manage to win I will bring you back to the real world.” Sanosuke lied.

“Why, why are you doing all of this!?” Aisu demanded.

“Simple, I want to see what Gohan can do. How will he defeat his most hated enemy and will he succumb to the darker nature of his heritage in order to defeat you? To me this is all just a game.” The demon laughed as his body was drawn into another distortion of space and time.

Gohan was brought to a sudden halt as he broke through the upper atmosphere, he could see Aisu’s fleet lingering in the distance. They were too far out for Gohan to physically fly out to them and start destroying them. However, they weren’t so far away that he couldn’t hit them with a barrage of energy attacks. Taking out the fleet so haphazardly wasn’t in the hybrid’s best interest, but for now it appeared to be his best choice. Although, Gohan’s options changed when Sanosuke suddenly appeared before him, his Ryuugan activated.

“What are you doing here?” Gohan questioned.

“I’ve come to help you by order of the elders.” Sanosuke responded casually.

The hybrid released a sigh. “I don’t need any help; I can take care of Aisu myself.”

“Indeed you can, but how do you intend to do battle with him all the way out here? Do you really think he has the guts to fly out here and fight you?”

Gohan clenched his teeth angrily, Sanosuke did have a point. “Well what do you suggest? Can those eyes you’re so proud of give me the power to breath in space?” Gohan questioned sarcastically.

A laugh escaped the demon. “No, however they can bring you to a place where you can fight Aisu free of collateral damage. I’ve already brought him there. Now, I just need to bring you over so you can settle your battle one on one, without distractions.” The hybrid explained.

Gohan paused for a moment; he wasn’t quite sure why Sanosuke was so eager to help him. While it was true Gohan had been enlisted to help Kizura and Sanosuke with their plans to betray the legion, Gohan didn’t expect the shinobi to appear like this. On top of that, Gohan was having major doubts about even going through with the initial plan. Killing off Damian and Wyndara after they’d fought to protect the people of Namek didn’t feel right at all. Betrayal just wasn’t something Gohan considered an option anymore.

“What of your plan to revive your son and kill the others?” Gohan finally spoke as he adjusted his stance in the event Sanosuke turned on him.

“I have worked out a deal with Elder Argo. I won’t need the power of the Eternal Dragon to get him. So we won’t be carrying through with the plan. For now you need to go and face Aisu. I can handle the fleet alone.” Sanosuke explained as he started to move toward the son of Goku.

“Alright…” Gohan breathed a sigh of relief, the sincerity in Sanosuke’s voice appealed to the half-breed. “Let’s get moving then.”

Sanosuke nodded as he placed his hand upon Gohan’s shoulder. Just as he did with Aisu, Sanosuke drew both himself and his passenger into the spatial distortion. The two warriors passed through the gateway of space and time and materialized in the alien universe spawned by Sanosuke. Like Aisu, Gohan took a moment to take in the surroundings. It was breathtaking to say the least.

“So you’ve finally come.” Aisu cackled as Gohan’s eyes met Aisu’s own.

“Aisu.” Gohan snickered as he stepped away from Sanosuke. “Finally, after all these years we meet face to face.” The half-breed balled his hands into fists and clenched his teeth.

The hybrid’s white aura flashed to life around his body and sparks of plasmatic energy crackled through his aura. The asteroid began to tremble in the face of Gohan’s growing power. Before Gohan’s mind’s eyes flashed the images of his bloodied squad members. Over their mangled corpses stood the howling Aisu, he was pleased by his shallow victory. The memories of the past didn’t blind Gohan by rage, instead they gave him the desire to win. The revenge that he sought was finally at hand, his friends wouldn’t have died for nothing. Their will, their very power, would bring Gohan the victory he deserved.

“Once your battle is over I will return the victor to Namek.” Sanosuke’s words were ignored by the two combatants; they had more pressing matters to attend to at the moment. Neither fighter even took note of Sanosuke’s exit.

“I see you’ve grown since the last time we met. You’re no longer a helpless runt.” Aisu smirked as his purple aura seeped from his flesh.

“Tch, and you haven’t changed at all. You’re still an arrogant fool who can’t see past his own ambition. You’ve wrought far too much pain, and today you’ll pay for your crimes!” Gohan declared as the winds generated by his aura intensified.

“Heh, we shall see about that won’t we?” Aisu snickered as his tail smacked the asteroid’s surface.

As Gohan’s aura expanded and became more threatening, Aisu’s power level went on the rise. The Icer wasn’t going to save anything for later; he could feel Gohan’s power. As much as Aisu hated to admit it, if he didn’t go all out from the beginning he would meet his end at the hands of this Saiyan.

“Tell me Gohan, that form you’ve taken how is it that it generates more power than your Super Saiyan transformation?” Aisu questioned as he attempted to buy himself more time.

“You’re wrong Aisu. I’ve gone even further beyond an Ascended Super Saiyan; you could call this a Transcended Super Saiyan or a Super Saiyan Three. I’m sure this form is different for everyone who dares to reach it.” Gohan explained as he prepared to engage Aisu in mortal combat. The hybrid knew Aisu was simply stalling until he could reach his full power, but Gohan didn’t care. He wanted to show Aisu that all his power was meaningless. Gohan wanted to crush the Icer at his very best.

“Interesting, well let’s see if this Super Saiyan Three is enough to defeat me!” Aisu howled as his muscles bulged and his power level peaked. The ground beneath his feet caved and bowled outward, it was unable to maintain its form in the face of Aisu’s maximum power.

“Heh, be careful what you ask for.” Gohan muttered before he darted toward the empowered Icer. The air around Gohan’s body convex and formed a cone around him as he accelerated. The Saiyan traveled low to the ground, causing the earth to split in the wake of his fearsome aura. The lightning within his aura raged about as Gohan released a thunderous roar.

As soon as Aisu came within striking range, Gohan’s fist careened toward the rogue warrior’s chest. However, unlike Asmodeus, Aisu was able to follow Gohan’s movements. The Changeling’s forearm moved to greet Gohan’s power packed fist. Upon impact a thundering shockwave was sent out into the world, it tore into the ground beneath the two combatant’s feet. Aisu clenched his teeth as his forearm went numb, and pain surged through the rest of his nervous system. While the Icer could follow Gohan’s speed, he couldn’t withstand the Saiyan’s brute strength. Cursing the Icer sent his unused arm forward, in an attempt to knock Gohan into the ground. Sadly for Aisu Gohan vanished from sight, for a moment Aisu completely lost sight of Gohan.

“Over here!” Gohan roared as he appeared to Aisu’s right.

Before the Icer could think up a reaction, Gohan slammed his left shoulder into Aisu’s side. The Icer stumbled, but he didn’t tumble. Before Aisu could regain his footing, Gohan appeared to the changeling’s right and shoulder rammed him once again. The same result followed from Gohan’s second strike. Once more Gohan vanished, but this time he attacked from Aisu’s front and he didn’t bring with him a shoulder ram. Instead, the Transcended Super Saiyan unloaded a barrage of fiery punches into Aisu’s torso. Aisu cried out in agony as each blow struck him, each one was more powerful and faster than the last. If Gohan had delivered such strikes to Asmodeus, the mage would’ve looked like he’d just been subjected to a three-hole puncher, over and over again.

Taking a deep breath Gohan cocked back his right fist one final time, and he looked over the pain laden Icer. With a mighty roar the son of Goku let his fist fly forward. It slammed into Aisu’s face with extreme and unrelenting prejudice. Aisu was forced off his feet and was sent rocketing over the landscape. Any rock formation that happened to be in the Icer’s way was mowed down, they failed to catch the Changeling and end his unwanted trip.

I shouldn’t drag this out, I should end this here and now. Gohan thought as he watched Aisu collide with his final obstacle before coming to a halt.

The hybrid began to levitate and climb the celestial ladder as he raised his hands over his head. Gohan let his palms overlap one another as he raised his arms overhead. Particles of orange energy came together before the hybrid’s palms as he called upon the energies buried within his soul. Gohan’s power level steadily increased as he focused his energy into a single point. The distinctive hum of amassing energy traveled the airways as Gohan continued to draw upon his power. For the first time since his transformation, Gohan was prepared to unleash his most powerful attack. At first the hybrid thought his attack would go uncontested, but with a brilliant show of power Aisu exploded from his rocky tomb.

“You filthy worm!” Aisu roared as his anger was transmitted to his aura. “I will destroy you and everything you hold dear! Nothing will escape my fiery wrath!” Aisu howled as he raised his right hand over his head. Orange streams of energy began to cultivate before his palm. Those streams quickly came together to form a massive scarlet sphere.

“This is my ultimate attack! I’ve used this to destroy world after world! Let’s see if you can stop such a force!” Aisu howled as his Supernova attack stabilized. “Now die!” Aisu shouted as he hurled the massive attack toward the airborne Gohan.

“Don’t underestimate me Aisu!” Gohan shouted as his attack stabilized as well. “Masenko- Ha!” The half-breed exclaimed as he pushed his palms forward.

A massive burst of energy exploded from Gohan’s palms. Gohan’s trademark attack sped toward Aisu’s Supernova, and in no time at all the two forces collided with one another. Shockwave after shockwave was released from the two attacks as they grinded into one another. By nature Aisu’s Supernova exceeded the strength of Gohan’s style of attack, but Gohan’s excessive power more than made up for that difference in class. For a moment it seemed like two attacks were going to be stuck in a stalemate forever. But, the more energy Gohan pushed into his blast the stronger it became and the easier it was for it to push back Aisu’s attack. The hybrid couldn’t hold back an ounce of strength, if he did then death would certainly take hold of him and not Aisu.

“This is the end!” Gohan roared as his aura expanded and one final surge of energy was sent into his Masenko.

The attack’s diameter expanded and the ferocity of the attack increased exponentially. The Masenko managed to pierce the heart of Aisu’s Supernova, causing it to disperse in a rain of light particles. The Icer’s eyes widened as the Masenko raced towards him, dodging simply wasn’t an option, the attack was far too big for that. So Aisu did the only thing he could, he brought his arms over his body in the shape of an ‘X’ in order to keep himself from being obliterated. However, Aisu’s attempts to cling to life were pointless. The Icer didn’t have the energy to toughen his skin and augment his defense with Ki. Before the might of Gohan’s Masenko his arms were about as useful as a shield made out of papier-mâché. The Icer was consumed body and soul by Gohan’s attack. The resounding explosion tore through the asteroid as a starving dog would a steak. The land touched by the expanding explosion was completely destroyed, wiped from existence.

“I finally did it.” Gohan said through labored breaths as his arms fell to his sides. “After all this time...” Tears started to form in the hybrid’s eyes as he reverted to his base form and descended toward the ground. “It’s over my friends.” Gohan didn’t stop his tears from flowing when he touched down on the hard ground.

The smiling faces of his former squad appeared before him as he slunk to his hands and knees. Tears of joy continued to flow from his eyes as he struggled to stay within the realm of consciousness. He’d undergone two major battles after unlocking the power of a Super Saiyan Three. It was a miracle that his body was even able to withstand the strain. Now that it was all over Gohan could rest easy. His eyes drew to a close as he allowed himself to slip into the realm of unconsciousness.

Chapter Five: The Final Battle

-5-

In The End

Three days had passed since the defeat of Asmodeus and his cursed generals and since Gohan toppled the great Aisu. Finally the emerald planet was free from the hands of cruelty and despair. The people of Namek could focus on rebuilding their civilization, and could return to trying to heal their wounded planet. The islands lost in the battles would be restored with time, and so could the warriors who lost their lives in the battle with Sheeva. None of what the people of Namek had lost, was lost in vain. The young ones were safe and they would carry forth the emerald race. On top of acquiring freedom, the people had found a new ally in the Cursed Legion. However, this change in events inspired the group change their name and their objective. Although, none of their changes had been finalized, their greatest warrior was still out of commission. Gohan had yet to awaken from his unconscious state and the healers were unable to help the hybrid recuperate. Gohan simply needed time, his body needed to heal itself naturally in order for him to truly recover.

“To think we’d actually be working together to protect this planet earnestly.” Damian laughed to himself as he took up a seat at the table his comrades were convening.

“Yes it is, odd that all of you converted so to speak.” Kizura said as he wrapped his knuckles against the tabletop casually. “This planet really has affected all of us.” The demon sighed as he looked toward Wyndara and Damian.

The two of them had been…informed of the plot to kill them. Sanosuke and Kizura had no choice but to come clean about the entire ordeal, as Sanosuke’s assistance left too many unanswered questions for the demon duo. Surprisingly, Wyndara and Damian didn’t resent Kizura, or Sanosuke for that matter, for their hand in Toshin’s demise. They had been completely unaware of Toshin’s true plans for the Dragonballs and the Nisharian people. Plus the time they’d spent on Namek changed their view on war and conflict. If Toshin had his way then there would’ve been internal conflict later on. In the end his murder worked out for the best, now Damian was free to usher in a new era for the people he now knew as his subjects.

“So then Sanosuke, where will you go now?” Wyndara questioned the shinobi. Unlike the others he didn’t take up a seat at the table, instead he chose to stand by the door.

“I will go to the dimension Felix is being sustained and free him. I’m not sure who or what I’ll run into one the way, but I have no other choice.” Sanosuke responded as he leaned against the wall behind him. “I cannot allow Asmodeus and the Dark One to gain another foothold on this planet, or anywhere for that matter, so I won’t be going the way I planned.” Sanosuke explained.

“Right, that elder is going to help you.” Damian chimed in.

Sanosuke nodded in response. “Yes, I am not sure when I will return, but my clan will still be an ally of your provenance. My younger brother, Kensei, will be in charge while I am away.” The demon explained as he removed himself from the wall he’d been leaning against. “I am sure with Kizura and the others to guide you things will go well.” Sanosuke concluded as he took his leave from the briefing room. It was time for Sanosuke to travel the road of the unknown.

“You know, even if I wanted to get revenge for what he did to father I couldn’t.” Damian sighed as he diverted his gaze toward the tabletop. “Even though I’ve unlocked this power, I still have a long way to go.” Damian laughed as he thought about the unprecedented power Gohan displayed in the battle with Asmodeus.
“We all have a long way to go.” Vesper smiled as she looked toward her new ruler.

“If only Mania could be here to see all of this.” The son of Toshin mused as he forced a smile to cross his lips. He’d been trying to avoid thinking about his lost lover, but it was becoming harder and harder not to think about her. Now that he wasn’t forced to fight for his life he had time to reflect.

“She would be proud of you Damian.” Wyndara reassured her son-in-law as she patted him on the back.

“So then, what do we plan to do about the wishes?” Kizura questioned abruptly. It was an issue that everyone had been avoiding, but it was one that needed to be discussed.

Silence befell the room as everyone traded looks; they weren’t exactly sure what to do about the wish issue. However, one thought did cross Damian’s mind and that was the revival of Mania. Of course, one obvious choice was to bring Felix into this dimension instead of leaving Sanosuke to go and retrieve him. However, that was well outside of Porunga’s power. The dimension Felix had been trapped in was created by the gods themselves; it was a prison that couldn’t be escaped so easily.

“What’s with the depressing atmosphere.” Gohan’s voice came from the entrance, and everyone instantly turned to see the victorious Saiyan with their own eyes. “Hehe, hey guys.” Gohan waved happily as he started walking over to the table. Everyone’s faces lit up so to speak, seeing the recovered hybrid was like a dream come true. They had no clue how long he’d be out for.

“Well if it isn’t sleeping beauty. You’ve been out cold for three days.” Kizura laughed as Gohan took up a seat at the table.

     “Three days huh?” Gohan repeated.

“Yes, but we’re glad to have you back my friend. There is much for us to discuss.”

“Go figure, I just wake up and there’s already a lot to take care. No rest for the weary.” The half-breed sighed as he scratched the side of his head. Now that Gohan was here the alliance seemed more complete. Daikon and Leon’s role in the group had been mitigated to the point of non-existence. Their time as members of the alliance was essentially up. The Cursed Legion would soon be reborn as XeroToleranCe, a much…different kind of alliance.
