Chapter 1: Ending it all in ONE go! The temple lay in the distance, the frog puffing his throat as he looked towards it. Frox and the other of the most elite natives looked at him, their faces serious and lacking any emotion. Ever since his defeat of the Arlian, his exploits had been passed around from village to village until he had arrived where he was now. Frox had been a brother to one of the warriors that died in the Arlian's destruction. So he felt as if he owed the frog warrior. When they had first met, there were few words, most of the talking was done between their eyes. It was obvious there was a great amount of respect between the two. The temple of meditation. Where the frog would face his worst nightmares. That was what the native had said, but the rewards of passing through it were supposed to be incredible. As he stepped up the marble steps, his sword was rested at his side. His throat continued to puff in anticipation. Fear gripped his heart, and yet. He had been through enough to know that no matter what happened, as long as he remembered that he was a warrior and that no matter how bad things got. He could come out of anything as long as he believed. As he reached the top of the steps, suddenly there was a voice from behind him. Stopping and turning, Frox looked at him deeply and said to him, "The temple of meditation is unforgiving, you will be entering another world. One where your worst nightmares are a reality, but if you can clear them. Then your heart will become pure." The frog nodded to him and turned around, looking at the large door, gripping the hilt of his blade until his knuckles became white. With a sigh of readiness. His eyes closing as the wind whistled softly. There was a whisper in his ear, the elder of his race. "Prepare yourself young one, this will be your hardest test yet." Suddenly the doors burst open, wind flusterring from them. Suddenly a portal appeared and sucked the frog in. And then, everything went black. But light was at the end of the tunnel, and the frog slowly hopped towards it. When he awoke, there was fire. And lots of it, the eyes of the frog dashed open. He jumped up and hovered into the air, but wherever he seemed to go the fire seemed to follow. It enveloped him, covering him. He coughed and hacked. The fire felt as if it was enveloping into his very aura, but that's when he realized that the fire wasn't burning him, in fact it was merely there. The frog closed his eyes, ignoring the sounds of the crackling and the smoking as he said to himself, "It isn't real, it's only a nightmare. You must come out of it Furoggu. You must learn to control your fears." He continued to close his eyes, willing his entire body into ignoring the fire. It took several minutes, the frog making a mental note in the back of his mind to start training his Willpower. But finally, he willed himself into sanity and the fire slowly dissapeared, being replaced by his shiny green aura. He opened his eyes, emitting a soft sigh of relief. Realizing he had been clutching his sword the entire time, he pulled his hand from it. Flexing the fingers and observing his surroundings. It was an interesting place, it looked like a combination of his home planet with the planet he had currently been on. Namekmarsh? Perhaps, or was the old Elder Namekian right and this was an alternate reality, concieved by his deepest thoughts? The latter was probably so, he continued to look around but then realized he should probably get moving. As he hopped, things seemed to blur and move, and after he had taken a hundred bounds, the entire landscape had changed. And before him he saw the inner Sanctum of his home fortress. The Elder sat above in the high throne as the arena before him filled with young Froglings. He looked at each of their faces, remembering old enemies and rivals, and old friends. He smiled softly, remembering this day perfectly. He spotted himself in the crowd, looking at how young he was the frog continued to smile, such a scrawny Frogling he once was. The Elder stood above and called out, "All of you, the battles will now begin. Remember that you do not fight out of hate, you fight out of forgivness. Now Furrogu, Atlerfax, both of you come forwards. Atlerfax, the older Furrogu grimaced at the same time as the young one, his worst rival in the Order. Not a day had gone by without the rich son of a sword maker didn't taunt and tease Furrogu. As they both stepped forwards, standing across from one another they both bowed low. Drawing their swords, older Furoggu could see the sweat pooling at the brow of his young form. But suddenly Atlerfax leapt forwards, swinging low at the frog, not even bothering to cover his sword with ki, both Furoggu's eyes flew agape, the older one remembering while the younger one was shocked. The younger one had no other choice than to fight back, he raised his blade and clashed it against the other. The fight hadn't lasted for long, but the moment was coming soon, as the two of them parried and slashed. The younger Furoggu tripped, Atlerfax at that moment, had been testing out a new side slice and it worked, all too well. He cleaved right through the stomach of the young frog, who went down on the ground, croaking as he tried his hardest to hold his guts in place. The Elder's voice boomed above the crowd, "Atlerfax! You know it is against our sacred laws to harm one of your Frogling brothers! You are hereby to be executed and have your head masted for all to see!" Atlerfax croaked and tried to run, but it was to no avail, as the Paladin Guards got ahold of him, they led him away. The older Furoggu looked at his younger self, tears pouring themselves down his face. If only he had been a little stronger, then his brother wouldn't have died, despite the hatred he had felt for Atlerfax, his actions had still caused the death of a brother. As the elder grasped up his younger self, he placed his hand against his wound, placing the intestines back in he uttered a few words in the Ancient Language and the wound became healed. The older Furoggu realized his hand was over the spot where he had been cut, there was no scar and no evidence of it, it had healed long ago, but not even the Elder could care for the emotional turmoil that both Furoggu's were going through. But this was naught but another nightmare, another dark memory to try and make the frog give up. But he would not do so, he had to keep moving. Hopping again in any direction, the landscape changed again. Where suddenly he was back outside. Looking around him, he realized suddenly that he was standing in front of a large mirror. Looking at himself, suddenly the figure in the mirror began to age, growing older and older as the young frog looked on in horror. The badge upon his chest never changed, remaining but a lowly Knight of the Frog as a harsh and cold voice whispered into his ear, sending chills down his body. "You will never get better, you will always be weak. Not strong enough to brave through fire, not strong enough to prevent a brother from dying and not strong enough to even advance in your precious little order." Furoggu's eyes closed and a tear formed but he opened them and shouted, "Where are you coward? I wish thee to come and say that to my face!" As the words came out of his mouth, suddenly the scene changed again, and the frog was standing back in the arena where he had practiced his sword moves with his Frogling brothers and sisters. There was a whoosh of air as the torches lit in each of the four corners, there was no one else in the room but himself and this unknown shadow. But soon a figure began to materialize across from him, looking deeply at it. The frog narrowed his eyes, wanting a crack at this damned shadow. But as the shadow finished materializing. Furoggu's eyes opened wide, as before him was himself. But it was not him, this shadow was darker, his aura a deep purple mixed with black. Furoggu looked at his Nega form. Nega Furoggu smirked and cackled, saying with his voice of chill-inducing horror. "Hahaha! Look at you, you are pathetic. I am your dark thoughts, your bad memories. I am your evil side." Furoggu looked at him and realized that the figure was right. His evil energies had laid dormant within him for so long, of course they had reason to re-appear before him now. Now it made sense what Frox had meant by purification, he had to defeat this evil Nega to win, he had to destroy his own evil. Furoggu reached for his sword, but at the exact same time his Nega did as well. They were moving in perfect synchrony. But that made perfect sense, considering they were both the same person. They both drew at the exact same time, and they both took the Flowering Blossom's main attack stance. Furoggu looked at his evil self, then suddenly he dashed forwards as he went for a side slash, as did his Nega and their blades both clashed, Furoggu continued to slash and strike and sweep and kick and try anything to defeat his evil form. But no matter what he did, His Nega repeated his movements. But as the fight continued to go on, Furoggu began to get tired, they both did. But no matter what he did, his Nega did the exact same thing. Furoggu looked at his Nega, suddenly transforming into his second Form, his energy spiked and shot up, with a sigh of relief. The frog looked at his Nega, who had done the exact same thing, but Furoggu had a plan, and it had to work, or everything would be screwed. He raised his hand, and a powerful green beam fired from it, as his Nega did so as well, they both fought with the beams, both of equal power. When suddenly Furoggu dashed forwards, around the beam. As his Nega did so as well, it had been a few seconds to late, their beams blew up just as Furoggu sliced through the stomach of his Nega. The blast sent him flying and he hit the ground, but after a few minutes he quickly awoke. Clutching his blade ready for anything, but all he saw was his Nega, who was laying on the ground, croaking softly. Furoggu stood over him, pointing his blade down he said to the Nega, "You are strong evil thoughts, but I am stronger. You are the evil, but I am the good, and the good has always held precendence over the evil. I in the end was stronger, because I know that no matter what. My good thoughts will always win." Furoggu watched as the evil slowly evaporated away. Suddenly a large white portal flashed before him, he sheathed his blade, his transformed shoulders heaving as he turned back into his regular form. Slowly he stepped through the portal, there was a flash. And then he was standing on the grasslands of his planet, his mind pure as he looked around. Frox and the other Namekians were standing before him and they nodded, flying away. As he turned around, he saw that he was on the highest mountain he had been on yet, looking out over the planet. A smile formed on his face, a new power showing on his face. All sense of evil perished from his body. The voice of the Elder flashed through his mind, "Yet again you have done extremely well, you have learned the lesson of Strength and Purification. You have met your demons and you have defeated them, as your Elder. I am promoting you to Advanced Knight. Wear this new rank proudly. Now, there are many more evils out there and many more demons, but I know that you are ready for them all. Good luck my boy, and may you always be strong." The frog smiled at the sky, Advanced Knight. He had done it, finally he had advanced in rank. But he could not gloat, there were many more adventures to be had and many more ranks to be won. But he was ready, staring at the sky his aura flared around him. All senses of evil perished from it. A soft gust of air passed through the area, his cape fluttering as he leapt from the mountain, running down it towards the ground. He felt new, as if his body had been reborn from the ashes of that fire. He felt light and free, free of the burdens that had complicated his life, and not only had his body been purified, he was an Advanced Knight. It was a momentous day when a Knight of the Frog advanced in rank, it meant that he was more powerful than he had been before, he was capable of taking on more powerful villains and capable of learning more techniques. He reached into his pocket, taking the small pocket book from it, opening it he went to the chapter that said "Chapter 2: Advanced Knight". The book was a book of fighting techniques, forbidden to read it past his current rank he followed it's guidelines, he was going to have to study the Flowering Blossom sword techniques and the Flying Fist of the Toad techniques. But after he had done so, he would be far more skilled with his weapons than he had before. His finger touched the flap that said "Grandmasters". Oh how he wanted to peek, but he was true to his words. The technqiues of a Grandmaster were limitless, able to defy all laws of physics. He smiled at the possibilites, he had seen two Grandmasters in combat before, it was almost impossible to see, and they were going easy on each other. But for now, he was content. He studied the manual as he walked, occasionally stopping and testing out a move that was confusing to him. As he walked and practiced, he wondered how the other Froglings from his class were, how far had they gotten? How many of them were even still alive? Surely he wasn't the only one to graduate to Advanced Knight, was he? But he could ask the Elder about that later. He had arrived home... [2,510] Total: 2,510 |
